Big Thunder Mountain TV Series : Would you want ABC to revive this cancelled 2013 pilot and give it another shot?

Old description from TVline:

"From EP Chris Morgan (Fast & Furious) and scribe Jason Fuchs (Ice Age: Continental Drift), Big Thunder centers on a late 19th century New York doctor and his family who relocate to a frontier mining town run by a powerful, but mysterious tycoon. Unfortunately, they quickly realize that not everything in the titular city is as it seems."

I think it would be a cool way to bring Big Thunder Mountain's and Phantom Manor's story into a great TV program. ABC could always use a boost in decent programming (and also free advertisement for the theme parks). Also when I mean giving the series another chance, I mean making changes to the original series for whatever was problematic in the first place.

Thoughts?

If you could have input into the story line, what would you like to see in it? :happytv:

I’m curious, with ABC doing more and more reboots, why would they not at least release the unaired pilot just to see what a test audience would say? Since they are remaking the haunted mansion, wouldn’t this show help promote that movie since there is already a connection between the two rides? Thoughts?

I'd love to see some BTMRR media, but westerns are such a hard sell these days. I'd probably enjoy it though. BTMRR has ties to the S.E.A. as does Jungle Cruise, so maybe they can create a universe based on that.

The show was actually pretty progressive from what I read. It would be cool if they made a show based on the Phantom Manor since its story appeals to both North American and European markets. Easy tv money and it advertises two Disney rides.

Never knew this was a thing. Missed this thread when it was first posted. I could see this being a Disney + thing but I don't see it working on network TV.

This was supposedly going to be the theme to the show:

I wish Disney would have released the unaired pilot as a test for modern audiences. Then they could recast the character actors if the original actors are to old for their original roles.

This was the description in the video:

"The new series, titled "Big Thunder" is set in 1856 and then in 1890. It centers on Dr. Grant Carson, who is recently widowed with two children he cares for with the help of his late wife's sister, Lizzie Rhodes. His beautiful teen daughter Abigail is gracious and refined, and finds herself with a love interest in the form of a handsome young Apache. Carson's ten year old son Jack is an adorable boy who thrives in the wild west. The head honcho and mine owner in Big Thunder Township is Abe White, who is larger than life and funny but can be unpredictable and maybe even dangerous. Abe's girlfriend is a beautiful Latina named Selena Morales. As soon as the Carson's arrive in town, they are immediately confronted by a strange affliction that is affecting only the miners who dig deep into the great mountain in search of gold."

It was also supposed to tie in Haunted Mansion as well.
