My family of 6 was thinking of renting a Beachcomber Shack when we visit in June. I have a few questions about the shacks. Are the shacks covered from the sun? The last price I saw was $300 plus tax. What all does this include?
Are tips required for the attentant? If so, do we tip after each order or at the end of the day? We are looking for a place we can sit and relax out of the sun while the kids play in the park.

1. There is a roped-off area only for people with wristbands. This is the cabanas and the reserved umbrellas with the upgraded seating. The area is not crowded.

2. You will get towels for everyone in the group. As they get used and/or dirty they will be replaced.

3. Each person in the group gets a water park refillable mug.

4. There is an ice chest supplied with bottled water.

5. You get a private locker at the cabana.

6. The attendant will purchase food (you pay) and bring it back, and will refill your mugs.

7. I never asked, but I do not think that tipping is expected.

8. No, there are not restroom facilities in the reserved area.

9. Even though the reservation is limited to six people, depending on circumstances you may be able to get additional people at $25 each, including the towels and mugs. There is a limit primarily based on ages for the extra people.

Does this area overlook part of the waterpark? If so, which part of the park do you see? My wife and sister in law doesn't take alot of direct sun very well, so they need a covered or shaded area while the kids play. I just wonder is this worth the $300.

It is an area of the main beach fairly close to the central area of the wave pool. But far enough back so that access can be controlled. And the cabanas do have roofs, so a person can (for most of the day) stay out of direct sun.

We went to Typhoon Lagoon last year. We rented chairs in the Premium Beach Chair Space which is in the same enclosed area and all but 1 of the Beachcomber shacks. Most shacks have a reasonable view of the wave pool and overlook the lazy river. There is 1 shack (I believe it is actually shack #1) that is on the right side of the wave pool directly overlooking it. All the rest are to the left near "Getaway Glen". All the shacks are covered and most are in areas with lots of trees that give additional shade. Here a few picks of the enclosed area and the shacks to give you an idea what they look like:

We have rented a shack twice now.

We definitely tip. We tip for the food/drink delivered at the time we close those tabs. We tip the cabana runner at the end of the day.

We have been in 2 different locations. We had a much better view in Cabana 1 then we did in Cabana 6 but 6 was much quieter.

They are roofed but they will not be shaded completely unless sun is directly overhead.

They have no bathrooms and the furniture is heavy, wooden and not comfortable for lounging.

Our family (me, DH, DS13 & DS11) rented a shack for the first time last August and we absolutely loved it. We probably will rent one every time go now. It was so nice having a place out of the way, we were in the Getaway Glen area, where we could rest and have everything we needed right there. On the day we were there a rain storm brewed up which left everyone else in the park scrambling to find somewhere to stay dry. Most of the people left. Our attendant informed us that the shacks are safe to stay in during a storm unless storm warnings are issued. Our attendants brought us our lunches while we waited out the storm. As soon as we were done eating the skies cleared and we practically had the park to ourselves. We did tip the attendants, because not all cabanas were rented out on the day we were there we unded up with two gals who waited on us, at the end of the day. Because we were the last ones to leave the cabana area, they offered us all of the left over unused water bottles that were left behind from the other cabanas. They gave us a nice big, heavy bag with about 10 bottles of cold water in it. We kept them in the fridge at our hotel room and for the rest of our trip we all had a nice cold bottle of water to take with us to the parks each morning. I would highly recommend renting one of the cabanas - we loved it.
