Bath and Body Works shipping? WTH?

Prices have skyrocketed and rare to have free shipping since covid. Then the shipping is economy. Although, last week they had 20% off sale prices plus free shipping if $50 or more. Great deal.

I paid $7 in shipping for this. What is going on with BBWs?

I always contact the vendor if a shipment is that late. They will either tell you to wait until X date, tell you to wait and comp the shipping charge somehow, or comp the entire thing. Normally it’s option 1 but at least it gets you a date to go back to them if it doesn’t show.

i ordered a couple of weeks ago when they had a big sale and got an email a few days later that read-

Hi!

Just wanted to let you know that we’re hard at work getting your order ready to ship.

Due to high order volume, your items may take longer than usual to process. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on the status of your package. Watch your inbox for updates.

Thanks for shopping with us!

Yes, they're in the middle of their semi-annual sale. Add to that that many companies are still having trouble filling positions.

They are one of stores that I fill my basket, see the shipping charge, empty my basket and stop by the the mall and go to their store. I never spend enough with them to qualify for free shipping, you need a lot hand soap for free shipping! I also have an outlet store maybe 30 minutes from me and I rarely find the outlet to be better deal than the store, which always seem to have a sale.

I would assume they are just overwhelmed with orders from the sale. Even with charging $7 for the shipping, they are still most likely taking a loss on the shipping cost because it is expensive to ship things these days.

Free shipping I have waited almost a month with Vans when they had a big sale.
But one has nothing to do with another
Shipping has gotten very expensive as other have said the rates have increased by over 40% and they have a lot of surcharges further adding to the price much less boxes packing materials and labor. The trend is shopping in stores now for lower priced items and sometimes even higher priced that would get free shipping. Been seeing this since late last year. I highly doubt free and or fast shipping will return unless more people decide to pay the shipping costs. Companies just cant afford to fully staff shipping facilities when online sales are down 15+% for most and that was true before companies started charging more. They are still losing money but making to more of 2022 losses.
If you want something now you are far better off getting it yourself these days or willing to pay a private service to get it for you.

The candles I ordered were online exclusive, so getting them in store was not an option.

I just looked at my orders placed over the last year and I usually paid $8 or $9 for shipping so this looks like a bargain...or at least a good price. I would spend $5.00+in gas to get to the nearest B&BW store and if I'm there in person, I'm going to find a whole bunch more stuff that I "need" so will ultimately end up spending more than if I ordered online. I'll pay the shipping fee (and I agree with the PPs who have said that shipping fees have gone up astronomically over the last year. My daughter ships things for her home business and I can't believe how much more expensive shipping costs are now than they were a year ago). And I've always gotten ship dates that are about 10-12 days out from the date of order with B&BW. This order looks totally normal to me.

I have never had one take this long from BBWs. It could be a one off.

I paid $7 shipping last week, got the email that my shipment might be delayed, but it arrived within 24 hours of ordering.

I get hooked into the One day sales and just pay the shipping, figuring it would be about $7 in gas for me to get in the car and drive to the nearest store.

I don't mind the shipping costs, but they usually cancel half of my order. They never have what I want in stock at my local store.

Maybe it has to do with location/proximity to a distribution center. I've never had an order from B&BW arrive faster than 7 days -- and that only happened once (Ironically, that was my most recent order about 2 months ago). I was shocked that it arrived so quickly because my estimated shipping date that time was 10 days out. All my other orders over the last few years have been 10+ days.

if ups does'nt renegotiate their contract by the end of july they have already authorized a strike-prepare for longer shipping time all around.

BBW is by far one of the most annoying online platforms for shopping. You can stack coupons all day long at the store and get a smoking deal but online, you can't ever use more than one promo code and if you do get a great promo code, chances are there's no free shipping. And if you do decide to do store pickup, they rarely ever have everything you selected in stock. Shopping at BBW online is why retailers like Amazon are so successful. Bath and Body Works is the Kohls of lotion and body sprays, it's like 1999 on their website.
