Hello going late august flying in on a Saturday and staying offsite for the night so check in day is Sunday. Do we physically have to go to the boardwalk inn first or can we just head to the water park? Are there direct busses to the resorts or you have to go to Disney springs? I’d like to go right at opening for a couple hours to avoid crowds. Thank you

No your free Water Park tile will appear in MDE. There is no need to stop at the BW first.

Are there direct busses to the resorts or you have to go to Disney springs? I’d like to go right at opening for a couple hours to avoid crowds.

Buses are still from TL to Disney Springs where you can catch a resort bus that will take you back to BW. It is often a shared bus to multiple Crescent Lake area resorts.
