For someone who has been on this, could you please give more detail about the AquaDuck? I've got some questions to see if I can handle this or if I'm just too chicken.
Is the entire "ride" enclosed in the tube. Does it feel claustrophobic? I saw a picture somewhere (could be a artists rendition) about the side being open. If so is the wall tall? How fast are you going? A difficult question to answer but......how scary is this? I know I am sounding like a chicken but I need a little more information before I start trying to get courage to try this.
I love Space Mt, Matterhorn, Thunder Mt etc. at Disneyland but for some reason this looks soooooo scary to me. Any other "chickens" ride this??

Thanks
Vicki

It's not scary at all. There are only a couple of spots were it goes fast, after that it's almost like a lazy river. The tube is fairly big, and unless you are really claustrophobic, you shouldn't have a problem. It also helps that the tube is see thru.

If you can handle Space Mountain then the Aqua Duck will be a breeze for you. I agree with the post above. I say go for it.

Ditto.....it is open in spots and not scary at all....my friend was scared to death to ride it and I encouraged her to give it a try....we shared the tube and she screamed the whole way through...so much so that people people behind us told us they could hear her all through the tube....but at least she tried it!!! Not sure if she would ride it again....I rode it a few times. I liked it!!!

Thanks for the info. I am GOING to talk myself into doing this !!!!

You will feel much better after you are on board and watch a few tubes go past before you ride. The first several seconds are a little faster, but you will be surprised how slowly you go for most of the ride.

I think space mountain is MUCH scarier than this ride...

One tip, if it is cool or breezy, have someone with a towel close to the exit, as you get mostly dry waiting in line, but get wet on the ride (especially the person in the back seat).

The ride is not scary at all. You're mostly in tube except for where the dips are. The tube is more than big enough to not feel closed in. Two people in the raft go faster than one person, so go alone first if you want to take it slow to test it out. The only surprise is when you go up the other side of the dips and get hit by water at your back.

When we were there, one kid got stuck on a dip and they had to shut down for 15 minutes. I think that's why the dips are not fully enclosed and there are stairs at each dip.

Other than that, the ride seems to be a bit shorter that I would've like, but all these rides are like that :)

Also, you can see part of the tube from the Edge and can see into the Edge from the ride
as it turns around to go to the aft of the ship.

Hmm... forgot to mention that there's a towel cabinet about 10 feet from the end of the ride. Just hop out and walk towards the front of the ship as if to get back into line, but look at the side of the ship for the brown wood cabinets.

Sometimes they let you keep the towel to wait in line and take the towel with you on the ride, but then you end up with a soaking wet towel at the end.

I am afraid of these things, and I really had a good time on the Aquaduck. It is a little more scary at the beginning, because there are some big dips and you're not sure how fast you're going to go. Once you get around the turn, it's pretty mellow, and it is very cool to look down at the pool deck from above.

In terms of lines, we had late seating and the 7 pm show and realized that the lines virtually disappear around the time of early seating, when people are just getting out of the 5 pm show. So we went at around 5:45 and there was almost no line.

I'm a big chicken, too. But, I really want to try this! At first I thought it was just for kids, but seems it's for adults, too. Right? It will be dh and myself. Do we have to ride together or can we go separately?

I am a big CHICKEN on rides and we rode it a ton of times. My daughters went on it 18 times in one day!! It is AWESOME,, your going to LOVE IT!!

Ok .... a silly question....where the dips are open to the world, are the walls high enough so you CAN"T fall over the side. It is just hard to picture this and that seems to be the only thing really scaring me since I am really afraid of heights.:scared1:

The walls are high enough were you wouldn't fly out.
I have some pictures of the aqua duck on my facebook page.
still trying to upload some more.

Did I hear correctly that they changed the height requirements from 48" to 42"? My daughter so wants to do this!!!!!!

Thanks for mentioning this. As soon as they release the rest of the 2012 itineraries I wan to book the Dream for Dec, and had in mind an early dinner seating, but since the Duck is a priority, I might change my mind about that!! :yay:

I made a video on our first trip down too. I don't think you're supposed to take cameras but no one said anything and it wasn't posted anywhere.

Not scary just fun! Just click on the picture to see the video. :)
