Aqua Dots - why couldnt we have a few days to stock up, before the recall?

Dumb lady here.. What are Aqua Dots??

They were these kids craft toy thing.... that instead of ironing the beads on one of those peg things to make a 'whatever' - you used water, and it just adhered the beads together.

Apparently whatever was IN that water activated glue-stuff contained GHB - Liquid G, Liquid Ectasy, Date-Rape Drug.

So kids were munching on these things (lord knows why) and were going into coma's.

NO ONE DIED - EVERYONE RECOVERED - so I am allowed to make tastless jokes now.

Actualy I did! I added to my recalled collection. Ok it is only the second piece. I bought a sarge truck when that came out.

But we do not have kids so they will never be opened.
I read the notice hear and zipped over to ebay and did a "buy it now" and payed instantly. One hour later ebay cancelled all the auctions and emailed us both. Since the seller already had the money he asked if I wanted it and agreed to ship it.

OH wait, I do have a set of jarts. OK I am set for retirement.

Aren't AquaDots for ages 3 & up? I saw a mother on TV tonight whose 18-20month old had swallowed them and nearly died.

Don't get me wrong..... they need to be recalled AND I don't know one parent that did not have a near-tragedy from an accident or lapse of judgement.

It just struck me as weird.

BTW, DGD has some and she had 2 in her mouth. She is constantly putting things in her mouth and we watch her closely. They were only in her mouth for a minute or so and we never noticed anything unusual. To smaller kids, they look like Dippin Dots ice cream.

Very scary, though, to think she was that close to major problems.
