Anyone up? Harry & Meghan Royal Wedding Watch thread

The dress was designed by British designer Clare Waight Keller for the House of Givenchy.

The tiara was from the Queens collection. It was the Queen Mary’s Lozenge Bandeau tiara. This diamond bandeau tiara with geometric lozenge motifs belonged to Queen Mary and was also worn by Princess Margaret. It has a detachable brouch in the centre.

I thought the Duchess of Cornwall and the Countess of Essex looked really beautiful. The Duchess of Cambridge looked amazing, as always. Has she ever looked not perfect??

She is gorgeous. I loved that she chose such an understand (but beautiful) outfit, that she has worn before so that none of the talk would be about what she wore on her debut after Louis and all the focus would be on Meghan-very classy.

I can't figure Meghan's mom out. Was she being so stoic so that she didn't cry? Does she just have one of those "resting..." faces? Is she unhappy about the marriage?

I wonder if you would feel like you were loosing your daughter a little, I mean think of all the threads with in laws and their power plays, as her mother you will always take a back seat now.

I saw Andrew but not Edward
They walked in together with Anne.

* I just can't get in to team Harry/Meghan for some reason. I can't put my finger on why though....guess I don't think they are a good fit or that this wedding will last.

I wouldn’t be surprised either way, whereas I would be gobsmacked if Will and Kate split.
I think H&M genuinely love each other right now, they have t been together for very long though (although many people have long marriages after a short courtship)

I wasn't criticizing the mother. I was just trying to figure her out.

I was reading an article today that was tearing into Kate for "looking tired" I wish I could look half as good as she does on her worst day :rotfl:

Not just a little, but a lot. I can't even imagine the conflicted feelings she is having. So happy for her, but so worried for what she's losing and how her daughter will be treated by the extended new family.

I thought her hair looked a little "off." The sides were not secured and just kind of tucked behind her ear and a few long pieces kept slipping out. I thought it looked sloppy. I also did not like how it was parted in the middle. It didn't look bad, just a little unkempt. But she always has her hair in that messy bun so maybe she likes the messy look. The back of her hair looked amazing though. I was fine with the dress, it could have used a little "pizazz" but I think she was going for simple and clean.

The dress she wore to the reception was absolutely stunning. She looked like a million bucks. Wow.

That designer is the first female artistic director for Givenchy. That seems to be a meaningful choice.

Yes. Beautiful. Maybe that was her original first choice for a wedding dress. She could have pulled it off with the veil and tiara. It would have looked awesome!

The strands hanging down the left side of her face bothered me, I wanted to push them aside! I wish I saw this thread yesterday. I had gotten up early and had it on, then my daughters got up and were watching it. I mentioned my girls were watching it to a friend who then couldn't wait to tell me how they couldn't care less about it. Then she said she told her daughter it was on and she was just like 'whatever'. Excuse us for being uncool! *people*

Regarding royal wedding gowns, I thought princess Diana's dress was one of the ugliest wedding dresses I've ever seen. It was gaudy, with those huge selves. It looked like it was wearing her and not the other way around. The fabric was awful and all wrinkled. No wonder the style didn't become a trend -remember Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy's gown? It seemed that for a while everyone wanted to marry in a gown similar to hers, even though few could pull it off. Not so with Diana's gown, and I think that was it for the designers.

Kate's dress was gorgeous. Now, to me, that what elegance and class looks like. Not too little, not too much. Just perfect.

I didn't like Meghan's s dress at all. I get that she was going for simplicity, but the dress didn't even fit! I think something similar to this would have looked gorgeous on her:

Now, can someone please explain to me why did the dress cost hundreds of thousands of dollars? I can understand if it is embellished with crystals or pearls, but this dress was nothing but fabric. Why so expensive?

I though the tiara was gorgeous, and Meghan looked radiant. She was a beautiful bride.

Not sure of the specifics, but there is a dress code for royal brides, and I believe they are required to have sleeves.

Yes. Beautiful. Maybe that was her original first choice for a wedding dress. She could have pulled it off with the veil and tiara. It would have looked awesome!

Joe Zee (fashion guy brought in for the wedding coverage on CNN) said that the church required covered shoulders and long sleeves. It was mentioned she was pushing the edge with the neckline she had because of the shoulder treatment. He also thought she didn't want to look back in 10 years to see something outdated. I thought she looked lovely and like herself. Harry thought she looked amazing, so that was nice to see.

Of course, the reception dress was a showstopper, but I can see why she couldn't wear it to church. It made an amazing picture getting into that car princess::car:

Personally I thought she was beautiful. The dress was classic and simple and beautiful on her. The veil was gorgeous. And she is a beautiful woman.

They looked very much in love with one another and so very happy. I hope they have a long and happy marriage.

She was required to wear sleeves in church. She could have worn a little capelet of some kind in the church. I like the draping of this one so much better.

I love the expression in Harry's face below. Now this is a relaxed, confident man, escorting his bride.

Diana's dress was really "something else" - a spectacle rather than a nice outfit. Nobody anywhere could have or probably wanted to duplicate it (unlike Kate Middleton, who single-handedly killed the strapless, sweetheart gown!). Diana's dress did influence trends though. For a while there in the 80's wedding dresses were getting pretty out of control with the sleeves, bows and general frippery:

not true.

Here is the seating chart. He is #10 seated in the first row next to his fiancee.

Thanks for the seating chart. Since Meghan's father couldn't attend, I wonder which lucky guest got an upgrade to the VIP section.

The 200 A list guests: Did they stay on site between the receptions and get to rest and change clothes in one of the castle's many rooms?

The car Harry drove to the reception had the steering wheel on the incorrect side for British traffic.
