We normally use Southwest points for travel, but they do not fly to Hawaii. We flew to Hawaii last year on Hawaiian Air, using a credit card promotion to get enough points. Alaska airlines has a similar promotion right now. We could fly to San Diego on Southwest points from the east coast and use Alaska air to Hawaii.
Would like any input good or bad about Alaska airlines and their rewards program.

Thanks

I've never flown them from San Diego, but we've taken them from the SF Bay area to Hawaii several times. They're an excellent airline - would take them again anywhere.

I don't know what their current promotions are, but look into their credit card. Get their CC, and once/year you can get a companion fare for $99 + tax, wherever they fly. You have to buy one normally priced ticket. Also, check in 24 hours in advance, and look for their cheap 1st class upgrade. We did that once to Hawaii - $100 per seat for FF. But that's only available 24 hours in advance for any unsold FF seats. And they go quickly.

Fly them all the time to Hawaii. I use their credit card to book my tickets (also helps I fly to Seattle and Portland often). Great airlines.

we have done that flight, if it has not changed it leaves at like 6 am so we were at the pool at the Grand Wailea by 11. Its the small plane 737 but San Diego gets a nice crowd, full of helicopter moms that kept trading seats. We also do the Alaska credit card with buy one get one for $100. Hawaiinan is by far the best with their big A330s but as long as I get there I am good.

I live n the east coast, so have only flown them once. I have a family member living on the west coast and she flies them all the time; loves them. They seem to really care about customer service.
