A couple weeks ago my SIL/BIL were over for some games. She told me about how she went online to the Kay's website and requested the gold exchange envelope. I guess they send you an envelope and you put in all your unwanted gold, then they email you with a video of them opening/emptying your envelope and then they go through the gold, inspect it and will give you an offer of what you're gold is worth. If you accept, they will send you a check. I guess she sent in a couple broken braclets and a necklace and got a check for just over $500. I was like YEEHAA!!!!

So I went through my jewelry and found 5 rings that either don't fit or I will never wear them plus my class ring. I sent them out on Monday and I got an email stating that they received them, now I just have to wait for them to "process" them and for them to send me a quote on how much they'll give me.

I know I'm not expecting over $500 like my SIL (I'm sure her bracelets and necklace weighed more than my rings LOL) but I'm still kind of excited to see how much I could get for them. I'm hoping for like maybe $100. :confused3
That way I can buy some shorts for my son for the summer. LOL Just went through his closet this weekend, weeded out everything that doesn't fit and at the end of it all, he ended up with 1 pair that he can still wear over the summer.

So do you think I'm hoping for too much ($100 for 5 rings)? Actually, I should just not even think of how much I think I might get. I'll be happy with whatever it is (since I won't EVER wear those rings anyhow) but I'm just wondering if you've done this with Kay's (or any gold place for that matter) what did you exchange and what did you get?

So nobody else has used Kay Jeweler's for their gold exchange? Like I said before, I sent in 5 rings (including my class ring) and just received a check for $198. I was soooo happy!!!! I was hoping for around $100 so I think I made out pretty good. I'm sending out another set of jewelry today. My DH has decided to cash in his class ring and use that money for some spending $$$ on a cross country trip in a couple weeks. I also have some more jewelery that I'm cashing in. Keeping fingers crossed I can get another couple hundred!!!!

Gold is currently over $1400 an ounce. I would be asking how much my stuff weighs and then figure out if you ar getting a fair price.

We sell to someone in the diamond district and do great. Last time selling single earrings, a couple of thin small bangles I got over $900!
