Anyone ever stayed Deck 1 on Wonder (Medical Ctr)?

Am getting ready to book on the 12/28/15 Wonder sailing. Am trying to get 2 connecting Oceanview cabins and the TA has come back with rooms on Deck 1 (category 9D). Are these oceanview? Has anyone stayed on this deck before? Only thing else on this deck besides a handful of rooms is the medical/health center. Am reluctant to stay this far down, but would appreciate some feedback from those who have stayed on this deck, please. Thanks!

We are booked on deck 2, while I was reading up, someone mentioned that the elevators are usually not crowded at all going up, so there's a plus. I'd guess that the motion wouldn't be as drastic lower down as well, which could be great if you are prone to motion sickness.

I know some rooms are under the nightclubs and you can hear stuff above, and if aft you can hear the anchor raising and lowering. Check out the reviews of whatever cabin you are assigned

On Deck 1 the rooms have two small portholes rather than one large porthole, but because they have portholes they do still count as "ocean view"

(the link 2 posts above - when you click on that, the site shows a photo of a verandah stateroom with the description of an oceanview - oops)

Here's what the portholes look like:

We stayed on deck 1 Wonder in October. I loved my room. There are two small portholes instead of 1 large one. We had little traffic in the halls. We didn't hear anything above Us. We were able to go up a few flights of steps and be at the main dining rooms or guest services. When elevator gets down there it will be empty so no issue getting a ride up to pool deck. I would save money and book again. We are going to Alaska this summer and booked deck 2 Wonder to try it out. I hope we like it as well.

We stayed on deck one of the Magic March 2013. As others have said, two small portholes. There are VERY few rooms down there, so little traffic. You only have access to midship and forward elevators. You can't get all the way down to 1 at the back of the ship.

Only real issue is actually getting off the ship at ports. We assumed we'd be able to walk right off because we were *right there*, but they block the hallway door so we actually had to go up to Deck 2 at midship and then come back down.

The coolest part of staying in a deck 1 oceanview is when the seas get up a bit. If the waves are big enough the water will occasionally go over the portholes. A cool view during the day.

Our very first cruise was on the Wonder on deck 1. We were right down the hall from the medical center. I really didn't have any issues with it at all. I will say that there isn't as much motion when you stay lower in the ship. Since then we have been deck 6 and above. I prefer them, and I can't really say why. Maybe it's because you are closer to things... But again that cabin was fine!! Have a great time!!!

Yes, 9D is ocean view with two smaller portholes. The inside staterooms on deck one are cat 10C. You can check all this on the DCL website. Go to Ships & Activities, select the ship and click "View the deck plans" there you can select any deck and hover over to see stateroom numbers and cat. In the details that pop up it will say if it is a connecting stateroom and to which stateroom it is connected.

We were on deck one on the Magic last year for 21 days and loved the location! We were in a 10C, so across from the rooms with views. It was so quiet down there. We were right by the door that the crew uses to get to their area and those folks are quiet as, well, mice :goodvibes.

We didn't use the elevators at all (we knew with 21 days on board we needed to get plenty of exercise or risk outgrowing all of our clothes) but noticed that there didn't seem to be any trouble for others down there to get on. We are booked on next year's WBPC on the Wonder and specifically requested a room on the first deck.

Also, we didn't hear any noise from deck 2 above us. I think it's all guest rooms.

I am glad to hear these positives, because I have been freaking out reading reviews about noise from below the first deck, mostly mechanical. So no problems there for you?

I'm sure we must have heard something, but I can't remember anything. If we did hear stuff, it wasn't anything that stuck with us. Mostly we were just thrilled with how quiet it was in general down there.

We normally stay on deck 2, but recently, we stayed in a 10c on deck 1 (1041). We loved it!! Next year, we have a sideways 11c on deck 5 or 6, but I'm wanting to change to deck 1.

We used the stairs for the whole week and it definitely helped keep the lbs off!!!
