Any opinions on the split porthole rooms on the Fantasy? Specifically 5022?

We are sailing in a year and have reserved this room and are seeking any info or opinions about the room.

These 8a's are popular and often challenging to reserve. Nice choice. :thumbsup2

5022 - "mini-suite" w/wall divider, no split bath, sleeps 3

Notes: This room has two large portholes, the room is larger widthwise than lengthwise. There is plenty of floor space (we had 7 people in the room at one time and did not find it crowded). This would be an ideal room if you have a stroller or a scooter, but don't need an accessible bath. The bathroom is small and not split. The rooms are over the Walt Disney Theatre, so during the shows you will hear the show and feel the vibrations. This room Sleeps 3. The desk in this room is the full length of the one wall and has plenty of storage.

Found a couple videos;

We've stayed in 5022 on the Dream, I think it's an identical room. We love the 8a category rooms. They feel really spacious. I see a lot of feedback about the noise during shows but we've never been bothered by it, usually because we are either at the shows or at dinner during the shows. I would prefer a split bathroom but that's the only thing I don't like about it. Otherwise, it's great. The large portholes have the bench seating on them and with two of them there is so much light during the day. Also comes with plenty of closet space and cabinets. Two tvs for family members to watch different things. Great if you're traveling with kids.

Wow, that porthole is big! Is that standard in most outside cabins on DCL? We might go for that instead of a Veranda if we can find two connecting cabins with that kind of porthole.

We've stayed in one of its cousin rooms on the Dream and Fantasy. We LOVE the space and the room. location is great. we did not have noise issues from the theatre.

We did have noisy hangers in the closet, banging around in rough seas, espeically on the fantasy. I finally gave up and took them out and dumped them on the floor (thankfully lots of space :-)).

Also, during rough seas you can feel the ship crashing down into the waves (or them into the ship... whatever,... you can feel and hear that motion). I didn't mind it, but I could envision some people might be disturbed by this.

The only thing we did not like, and why we probably won't be back in those rooms anytime soon: my sister slept on the sofa bed and found it uncomfortable. Our last two cruises (B2B) we had a category 8B with a murphy bed and she was MUCH more comfy on the murphy, so that is our new cabin preference: "must have murphy bed" (unfortunately, that criteria is quite limiting!).

On our last Fantasy cruise we were in an 8A (5518) and it had both a sofa bed and a bed that came down from the ceiling. Didn't use either so not sure how comfortable they were, but our cabin attendant made them up the first night so we got to see them both.

The extra large porthole is standard for most porthole rooms on the Dream and Fantasy- the "Dream class" ships- above deck 2 (except for the cabins all the way forward that have slanted walls). The portholes on deck 2 can be sat in, but aren't as large as the ones pictured in the previous post.

The Magic and Wonder- the "classic ships"- have smaller portholes with no sit-in option.

We've stayed in 5518 and in two weeks are staying in 5522 both on the Fantasy. These rooms are awesome!! So much so we've even had notes put on our reservation not to upgrade us, just in case.
