We always stay at a value and as everyone knows those rooms are small!
We are going for 10 days this time. In the past I have found it difficut to keep the room organized and tidy. It always seems like it takes us a while to locate our glasses, hubby's wallet, etc before heading our to the parks.

I have already decided to bring some plastic hangers. There are never enough hangers and I thought that the more clothing I can hang up will make it easier and free up more drawer space.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I do like the over the door organizers. I've bought them from the dollar store, but honestly the nicer $10 - $15 ones from Target or such are much better.

I think you can call housekeeping for more hangars - I agree - I hang as much as possible also!

I think they will store you empty luggage for you if you call the bell services (just tip them!).

I bring a little pop up hamper for laundry.

I also try to keep a room tidy, as I can't stand clutter. The organizers help - maybe even use two of them!

Don't bring lots of stuff that you don't really need - I always brought crayons and stuff for the kids, and found that they didn't need them much.

I hope this helps!

I bought some inexpensive little plastic baskets, 4"x6"x2.5" deep - one for each member of our family. You can put them on the bedside stand or wherever is convenient. Each person puts their watch, change, wallet, sunglasses, keys, and other small stuff in their basket. They are lightweight and nestle easily for packing in a suitcase. During the day, if there's anything left in the basket we can put it into a dresser drawer or on the top shelf of the closet out of sight. Very convenient and they help keep the small clutter organized in one place.
The over-the-door shoe holders are another great clutter organizer.

I thought the same thing this past trip..

I brought extra hangers and that seemed to help alot
I also brought a pop up hamper for dirty clothes.. I also brought some little plastic baskets to put the misc stuff in..

These little tips helped tremendously.. I always feel like the room gets so cluttered..

Looking forward to other tips for our next trip..

Not sure this will work for you if you have alot of hang-up clothes. When my two teens and I stayed at the POP last fall we didn't have much to hang up so I set up the ironing board under the clothes rod, adjacent to the sink. We put all our toiletries there and kept the sink counter totally clear. We did unpack everything and everyone had their own drawer or area. Take as few pairs of shoes as possible. Crocs can be used for pool shoes as well as for walking. I found that once we were in for the night the teens settled on the bed to watch a move and that was when I did my moving around. I had a checklist of what I had to take to the parks each day and I packed that in my little backpack at night to be ready for the next day. The kids each had a backpack beside their beds and that is where all of their extra gear, mp3 players, etc. was stored during the day. I ALWAYS make beds each day, just to make sure nothing important was left behind. I also brought clothespins with our names on them to attach to our towels so we knew whose was whose. Laundry went into two suitcases, pre-sorted for dark and light loads as soon as we hit the laundry room back home. It was a pretty small room but we kept it pretty well organized and tidy.

I haven't tried this yet but someone on these boards suggested the fold up sweater type storage unit that hangs over the closet rod. You can use the shelves in the unit for clothes, shoes, toys or whatever. We never seem to have enough drawer space.

Great ideas everyone! Thanks a bunch!

I picked up a pop up hamper tonight... Darn it I forgot to look for an over-the-door shoe organizer. Maybe I will check at the dollar store for one. At this point I dpn't want to spend any more $$$. We leave next Saturday and my hubby just informed me that his shorts don't fit... Argh. well at least he didn't wait until Friday to tell me.

Thanks again for all the useful tips!!

we brought extra hangers, a laundry bag for dirty clothes, and stored tolietries in a plastic rubbermaid box in the bath area when we stayed at POR. We kept clothes in our suitcases (we use duffel bags) and left them open in a corner for easy access. I also packed DS's clothes in zip lock bags to make getting him dressed easier. I also packed clothespins to hang swimsuits and ponchos in the shower to dry. I am a zip lock freak! I used them to stash sugar, forks, straws, napkins, salt and pepper, receipts, and anything else that when left out makes a mess!!
We used a tote bag to hold souveniers and put it on the shelf in the bath area (over the clothes rack) and when it overflowed I put the Disney bags up there too, that kept all the souveniers in one area. DH didn't want to put the stuff in the car (which I thought would be a great spacesaver!!) he was nervous that someone would break in the car!
We kept the stroller folded in the corner between the ac and the wall, perfect fit!

Staying organized in a hotel room is no harder than staying organized in your own bedroom at home. Just follow the same routine you do at home for where you put your watch, glasses, etc.

The over the door shoe organizer (with clear pockets) was the best advice I got from the DIS. It held all of our toiletries, brushes, jewelry (fake, of course), pins, lanyards, etc. Also, the pop up hamper was a huge help. Once that got full, we put the dirty clothes in a suitcase and did laundry.

Also, I wish I hadn't packed as many clothes as I did. We did laundry 2-3 times during 9 days and I could have saved myself a lot of space by not packing quite so much.

Lastly, bring a power strip for charging phones, Ipods, cameras, etc. There were plenty of outlets in our room, but it made it easier knowing where everything was when it was all plugged into one place.

Enjoy your vacation!

My immediate thoughts when I read the topic of this thread.
HMMMMM....how to keep room clean, tidy, organized?
Leave husband and son home...
take daughter, go to WDW...
NO PROBLEM!!!!!!!!

:lmao: :lmao: Oh I love it!!! That is the truth for sure!!!!! If it wasn't for my husband and son everything would organized not only on the trip but at home as well!!!!!! And honestly it is mostly the hubby who is a clutter magnet! he can never find a thing. Even at home - he spends more time nearly 4 to 5 times a week looking for his sunglasses, truck keys and wallet. And I even have a basket at the door for him to put those items in immeditely when he comes home. The proof is some men can never be trained!!! :lmao:

I picked up a pop up hamper tonight...

Do you mind if I ask where you found one? My mom was just saying the other day she wants one for our upcoming cruise. I wouldn't mind one myself too. We used the closet floor last time but eventually the pile hides our shoes.:headache:
Cabins on a ship are waaay smaller than even a small hotel room. It's so hard to find a home for everything. (not complaining really) :goodvibes

I have one of those hubbys too.
me too! :goodvibes

I actually found a Disney Cars one on clearance at Target this past wekkend.
It was marked down to $1.78. It was in the area of the children's bedding ensembles. The plain ones were $8.99 in the laundry aisle (where the ironing boards and such are).

The Disney cars one is the same size as the regular ones.

I found my hamper in the Back to School/Dorm section of JC Penney.

thanks!!!

I liked using the pop-up clothes hamper.

I also bring lots of empty ziploc bags (different sizes). Helps keep things organized in drawers.

I found that it helped to try to organize myself a little at the end of each day; it only took about 5 minutes, but it saved some frantic "where are my sunglasses?" moments in the morning, when you're trying to get out of the door.

I picked up a hanging shoe organizer today at the the local dollar store for only $1.
It is not the over the door type - it just has a hanger that I could put over the closet rod.
I figure that will work for alot of stuff.

We're getting close just under 5 days now!!!!
