Annual Pass Room Discounts for Value Resorts

Hi! I am considering getting an annual pass starting with a trip in January. I believe I will have enough days/trips in a 12 month period to warrant a pass. What I'm curious about is the room discounts. How often does Disney offer room discounts to annual pass holders? Are they generally certain times of year? Also, I almost always stay at value resorts (because we go, go, go at the parks all day and some of these trips may be solo trips) so I'm wondering if those room discounts really even amount to much when staying at a value. Thank you!

To my knowledge, there is no set time of year Disney will allocate Annual Pass discounts, nor is there a set discount amount. From what I understand, Disney offers discounts based on operational needs, as in they need to fill rooms. I could be wrong, but that is what I've noticed. The value resorts typically have the least discount, and it could change. Perhaps do some math using your expected travel dates utilizing the current promotion and see if that gives you enough info to make your decision. Wish I could be more helpful!

Except for super peak times, there's almost always an AP discount available eventually for most dates. Value Resorts typically have a lower percentage discount than Mods and Deluxe, though, and not all resorts will be discounted for all dates, so flexibility is key.

Had AP for around 16 years and agree no set time or amount. I used it for years and what I saved paid for one AP but it actually became less an option than a regular public discount. I then used FL Discount for awhile, it was better. Now since COVID I have mostly used the Disney+ discount as it was better than others.

Another thing to remember is that the discount isn't infinite. Each hotel decides how many rooms it will offer any given discount/time frame. Add that the values go fast, you need to always be on the lookout for announcements.

And to add to everyone's helpful feedback above, as of late, it seems the Disney + and the Disney Chase card deals have been better than the FL & AP deals I've seen as of the past several years. The discount we got for a moderate room was 35%, at the time, and it was applicable for most resorts across all categories of stay. Hopefully discounts like this stick around as travel demand has normalized a great deal.

Something to keep in mind: If you can't get a discount, or your discount isn't great, you can always login to your account and try tweaking your reservation. I've found previously unavailable discounts in the past right before my travel dates. Some folks cancel and you may be able to scoop up those discounts!
