My son has a peanut allergy and I *heed* the warning labels at Disney. While I do allow my son to have the packaged Rice Krispie treats that you can get in the grocery store, I do not allow him to eat the ones at Disney because I do not know there manufacturing process.
I understand what the poster ruttie is getting at. A lot of manufacturers are putting these labels on the food unnecessarily because, even though their manufacturing might be safe, they don't want ANY responsibility.
Still...WDW is not a place where I want to find that out.
I do know several children who have reacted to regular M&Ms so there are peanut traces in them and, as far as I know, always have been. We avoid those.
As for the Mickey Ice Cream bars--it used to be that they were considered safe, then for awhile at least, the manufacture wouldn't guarantee it. I continued to let my son eat these because they had not changed anything about the manufacturing process. They were just 'covering' themselves.
Several years ago, we ate at Citricos and they have a chocolate eclair dessert called "Dog Bones". The chef came out and discussed what type of chocolate went into the dessert and we deemed it "safe". This year, they said that they were getting their chocolate from various sources and that it could not be deemed safe. So, no dog bones this year.
Just do what you feel comfortable with.
