Over the past 15 years I've been at WDW IN the value resorts at least 10x during Pop Warner. I have often responded to other's concerns on this forum reassuring them that I'd never experienced a problem, which is true--until this past December.
First let me issue my disclaimers, my job dictates when I visit and my budget dictates where I stay. When I made my reservation I could ONLY get All Star Sports, preferred room. I know, I know.... Pool view would have never been my first choice, but when I tried even at check in to change, no go. My BFF and I arrived on Saturday. No issues Saturday night. Sunday I awakened to hear a group of girls (3rd floor walkway) in shouting exchange with a man (not a kid) on ground level. It was heated and in English, but I couldn't make out the words. My BFF has trouble sleeping so I didn't want to wake her by using the phone to call security. I tiptoed to the door and the shouting heated up. I am not squirrel-ly, but I honestly didn't feel safe going outside. (In hindsight, I should have gotten my cell phone and turned on the shower to block my chatter.)
The next evening OMG.....the noise and chaos from the pool was INSANE. "Ok" I thought, "Hang in there until they close to pool." I went to the food court. Along the way I met a nice lady on an ECV who commented that she had NEVER seen it like this even during Pop. A group of running teens (no adult in sight) ran into me (literally) knocking me off balance. No apology. No acknowledgment. At the bar, those whom I assume to be Pop chaperones were 3-4 deep. On the way back to my room, a different RUNNING group of girls ran into me, knocking me off my feet and into the landscaping! again, no apology or even acknowledgement.
(FWIW, I do NOT know this for a fact but I was told by 2 other guests that the cheerleaders were in Sports and the football players were in the other All Stars. I don't know that this is true, but there was an overwhelming ratio of squeal-ly teen and tween females at Sports.)
For the first time in 25 years of travel, much of it as a solo female, I felt unsafe on my beloved Disney property. I retrieved the welcome letter signed by the manager and sent an email. I though I'd hear something in a day or two or perhaps once I got home. I retold my above story, politely and in much the same wording. I wasn't angry nor did I ask for any adjustment. I was astonished to receive a phone call within minutes!!!
My friend and I were quickly and efficiently relocated to an AoA family suite (Lion King!) THAT night!
I was so impressed and encouraged by the rapid and wonderful resolution to our problem!
Again please note that over the past 15 years I've had multiple stays at value resorts during Pop Warner and this was the first time I've ever encountered a problem. I fully recognize that WDW is not responsible for the conduct of its guests. BUT they mayhem outside was not minor and I felt then and now that there should have been an OBVIOUS presence of WDW Security.
I want to commend Disney on their rapid and concerned response not only that night, but in multiple, follow up phone calls. I also want to encourage others to communicate issues promptly and politely with resort management. Finally, I know it was a fluke, but no more stays at any All Stars for me during Pop....
