Hi
Thinking of putting my FCC money towards an Alaskan cruise. Does anyone know which Itinerary is better. The 7 or 9 night

Also wondering if the prices have gone up a lot since opening day.
Looking at the 9 night leaving on June 28,2021. 2 adults
Or the June 7th also 2 adults. Thanks if anyone can help with what opening day pricing would have been

Personally I prefer the 9 night Alaskan cruises and very much enjoyed visits to Sitka and Hubbard Glacier.

Sitka is charming and my absolute of all time favorite port! And I would always say longer is better for a cruise. :earsboy:

The longer the cruise, the better. For us anyways.

The one negative for the 9-nighter next year is the missing Skagway stop. That port and the possibilities of what you could do from there hands down were our party's favorite.

Agree with Intr3pid above...longer the better. Alaska is a special state. Sometimes the magic comes to you. We were sitting on our verandah, waiting for Wonder to leave Juneau when a hummingbird flew up over the railing, looked us over and flew off...could have been Tinkerbelle.
Also, do not get a stateroom that is way forward on the port side from deck 5 up. We did for our Alaska cruise and, during the glacier day, when the ship is still all day but turns so all sides can see the glacier, the smokers (in their area) came out, hung over the railing above, flipped ashes overboard and on our verandah. The air was dead calm. We complained to guest services and they taped off the railing, but the smoke still came down on us...just about ruined the whole day. Rest of the cruise was awesome.

I was on the 9-night in 2017 and am booked again for the 9-night June 2021. I too like the longer cruises even if it's more expensive / day than the traditional 7-night. Dawes Glacier was good to see - BUT Hubbard Glacier was UNBELIEVABLE! Agree with Intr3pid - disappointed we're not stopping at Skagway but am really excited about the rest of the itinerary. From my previous cruise - the crew was just as excited as we were for some of the out of the ordinary ports and made our cruise that much more special.

Last year the guy from the Disney Cruise Line Blog was on the 9 night and did a great trip report on the blog. It seemed from his review that the extra stops and days were totally worthwhile on the 9 night.

I would encourage you to take a look at the DCL blog and check for his review. If you are going to pay for the flights and travel and everything, might as well add a few extra days!

We went first week in June on another cruise line in 2018. It was an amazing trip. Hubbard Glacier was so terrific. I did not think I would enjoy a glacier day, but I was amazing. One of the highlights was watching a mother harp seal and her pup. Mom would dive in the water, come back, dive, come back. Plus, Hubbard is massive and is not receding like most of the glaciers. I meant IT was amazing, not I was amazing. 😂 Not sure why it won’t let me edit.

We did the 7-day last year, and if we go again, I would like to do the 9 day to see the Hubbard glacier. Glacier Day on our last cruise surprisingly was my favorite day. I wouldn't mind swapping out Skagway for Sitka just to try something new, either.
