For those of you considering taking I81-I40-I75 through Atlanta try this alternate... it does not add any drive time onto the trip except for stops you make.
Take I40 in TN to the exit for RT 66 (look like exit 407). Take this down through Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg. This will bring you to Great Smokey Mountain National Park. We just did this over the summer. Much nicer than traveling the Interstate. I would just verify that are has no problems.
