? about adding dining plan

Has anyone waited until check-in to add the dining plan to their stay? Is this an option?

I've read different reports saying you have to add it either three days prior or five days prior. Presumably the right answer is one or the other or somewhere in between.

The DVC literature says we must add it at least 5 days ahead. I have read other posts (not concerning DVC) that say 3 days. The one thing that all agree on is that you cannot add it at check in. It MUST be booked ahead.

I believe you can add the dining plan to you package no later than five days before you arrive. You cannot add dining plan to a "room only" reservation. You have to have the package in order to get the dining plan.
