did i read somewhere that aaa will take you passport photos for free if
you belong to aaa??

They're really easy to do yourself if you want to. Also, you can go to the electronics counter at Wal-Mart, and they'll make it for you. All they charged me was the cost of printing off the picture (maybe 28 cents), but some charge close to $10 (I guess it's just the luck of the draw).

I had mine done for free at AAA in 2005.....but, when I went to get the passport, the photo did not line up with the guidelines and I had to pay to have one done at the post office on the spot. There are very specific guides for the photos (placement and size of your head in the pic), so make sure you have the info if you try AAA.

I haven't heard of AAA doing them for free but I have gotten a set of 2 photos from Costco for $4.99. :goodvibes

Our AAA branch/office charges ($7 I think) for passport photos unless you have a passport requiring vacation booked with them. I had my DD's passport photos done for free last year because we had a Disney cruise booked with them. The pictures came out perfect (and fast).

from their website...

AAA branch offices offer passport and immigration photo services. Photos are 2" x 2" in size and conform to US Passport and Immigration Services' requirements. Prices listed below are for AAA Members and their minor children (17 years and younger):

Basic AAA Membership $8/first set
Plus AAA Membership First set Free
Non-Members $12/first set

Additional sets of photos are $4/set and must be of the same person. Valid AAA Membership must be shown for Member prices, and Member prices are applicable to the member listed on the card only. Child photos will be taken if the child is able to sit up without assistance.

Please be aware, though, that the "First set Free" offer is on an office-by-office basis.

My membership is out of AAA Mid-Atlantic and members in that office do not get a free set. If my membership was out of an office in south Jersey I would be eligible, since that office continues the offer.

We actually found it easier to just let the county office where we applied for our passports take our photos. $8 for the set and we knew right away that they would be perfect.

I have a membership out of AAA Mid-Atlantic and had no problem getting free passport photos.:confused3

I am AAA plus member and everyone in my family (2 adultsand 3 kids) got our photos for free.

Every AAA has a different policy. Mine charges $7.95 + tax. And their camera is only for passport photos, so the sizes should never be wrong.......
