In the past, I have been very satisfied with Wayfair but they are really failing me right now. I ordered a new nightstand on February 18 with expected delivery something like 2/25-28. Perfect. I need it specifically for the spare bedroom where I will be convalescing after foot surgery. It is still not here. I used the chat function to let them know that it says on my account "expected delivery 2/28" and also says "preparing for shipping". This was two days ago on 2/28. The asked me to be patient and check again in 24 hours to see if the site has updated. I chatted with them again today and asked them to just let me know if it is coming or not so I can make a back-up plan. ( Funny thing is that now my "expected delivery" date is 2/23! )

The response was that they were going to contact the shipper and see if it has shipped and tell them to get on it. Or, if it has shipped, write it off as lost and send me another one. Looking at the website, it is now sold out.

If they had just given me an answer the other day, I would have had time to either order a different nightstand or physically gone to a store to look for one. But now I am in limbo. Do I buy something from brick and mortar store and risk the other one showing up? Do I cancel the order and risk not having one at all? Do I stack a pile of empty Amazon boxes and use that for a nightstand? Surgery is Wednesday and I will be living downstairs for 6 weeks. And if it comes after surgery, I won't be physically able to get it int he house and set up (assembly required) without help. So annoyed.

Just move something from somewhere else in the house, I'm sure you have something that will work.
I do. I just want to be sad. I was hoping for this style because I want the drawers next to my bed for all my snackage. I do have a nightstand shaped nightstand in another spare bedroom that I can use if it doesn't come.

It looks to me like it hasn't shipped yet but they won't tell me that for sure.
That's what I was thinking, you don't have tracking information yet which means it hasn't shipped out. From Wayfair's website they state they will e-mail you with the tracking information once it has shipped. Even if there were lags in updates to the order via the tracking information you'd still have one like "label created for shipment" or something like that.

IMO this is a shipper issue not Wayfair. Unfortunately furniture and appliances have been very unreliable in shipping (and even creation of the product itself) throughout the pandemic. It's quite possible given that the item is out of stock that the manufacturer is unable to meet the demands of the item.

I feel for you it sucks, I know the prep my mom did for her total knee replacements. At this point I really would go and find something in store (which may be difficult) or try to make something work at home and just cancel the item, at least I wouldn't want the stress of it all. Maybe don't cancel until you have something that works??

If the status doesn't change by tomorrow, I am going to cancel and go shopping this weekend.
Why not go find something local, hopefully cheap, that you can return if the Wayfair one shows up? You don't say when you need it (or I missed it). Leave it in the box until the day before if you have to assemble something.

I need it by Tuesday - Surgery is Wednesday. Ill be shopping this weekend for sure.

Have you been charged? We went through the same thing with Wayfair. In our case, the TV stand we ordered hadn't arrived a few months, after the expected delivery date.

DH called them a few times and kept getting the runaround. He finally ran out of patience & kept elevating the call up through the chain of command. After explaining his situation repeatedly, he was finally able to speak to someone helpful.

It turned out that they didn't have any control over the item we purchased. They had no clue, when it would ship. She said she couldn't even cancel our order, because the payment went through the company that makes and ships it. They're actually a drop shipment company for the majority of their products. She suggested he cancel the card he had paid with, so they couldn't ship the item & charge us months later.

I had foot surgery in 2021 and was 8 weeks non-weightbearing. I used a rolling cart that I probably got at Target or something to be with me where I was and rolled where I needed.

Different question--why do you need to stay downstairs for 6 weeks. As I said, I was non weight bearing for reconstructive foot surgery and I live in a 3 level house. I went up and down the stairs right away but on my butt! And I'm not a young woman nor in any kind of great shape! Just curious.

Have purchased a number of household type items from Wayfair and never had any issues. As I recall, your credit card isn't charged until the item has actually shipped. Amazon and various similar sites I use work the same same. Wayfair and all of those similar online stores don't actually manufacture the products they sell. They are simply a distribution network. If there are delays from the manufacturer, none of those sites have any control over that. For bigger purchases, I always check several of those sites to check prices and availability. The prices can often vary by quite a bit among those sites.

I've never had a problem with shipping time on anything I've ordered from Amazon. If I did, I have no doubt that I'd receive much better customer service than we received from Wayfair. I'm glad you've had good experiences though.

Perhaps depends on the items. A few times on Amazon I had to contact customer service to clarify something about the product description and the person on the online chat feature didn't seem fluent in English which made having an effective discussion challenging. I ended up buying the item from a different website. One time Amazong sent me three of something when I only ordered ONE (and they only charged me for ONE). It was quite a challenge to contact them to get information about the return process.

I've never had a problem with Amazon either until my last order. It is been pending shipment for 2 weeks and I have a feeling it's going to get canceled. I placed the order two weeks ago and it's an item shipped from Amazon warehouse by Amazon so there's that...

I have no advice but a friend ordered furniture from Wayfair for her business and several aspects of the delivery were odd.
Now my friend lives in a small town, 95,000 population, and for some reason Wayfair used a delivery company 150 miles away, in an even smaller town, 25,000 population. They got a tracking e-mail with a direct contact phone number to the shipping company and a delivery date and time window. When the delivery did not come as scheduled, she called. There was no answer at the shipping company, and no voicemail. Didn't come the next day, tried calling again, and again no answer or voice mail. She called Wayfair, who called the shipper and they didn't get an answer or voicemail either. They said give it another day and call back and they would ship a replacement. That would have been Friday, she forgot about it that day. On Monday.......which was a holiday......and her office closed.....she gets a call from the delivery driver that he was there and there was nobody in the office, where did she want the delivery? Fortunately she lives just a few blocks away, and let him in to make the delivery. Delivery guy said he had no idea where Wayfair got the previous delivery information as his company only does deliveries in her city on Mondays.
