We are going on a 7 day cruise out of Galveston in October. I am trying to buy things a little at a time and was wondering how many swimsuits each person should have. I am bringing six for my 2 year old because...well she is 2 :rotfl2: But for us adults how many should we each bring? Thanks!!!

I am also going on one in October for seven days - super excited! I am bringing three or four for my four year old. We are not planning on doing water most days though because I hear it gets really crowded. Maybe early morning and port days we will do the pools. I am planning on waiting as long as possible to get all of our warm weather things because I know there will be lots of swimsuit and cover-up sales once September gets here!!

I like to have 2-3 since they dont dry fast at all. so you can rotate days and hope they are dry.

Six for a two year old? What huh?:confused3

I'm bringing an overly generous 3 for myself, the guys will bring 2 each so one is always dry. Honestly one per person would be just fine!:goodvibes

I USED to take one for each day (one dress for each night, one hat for each bathing suit, a pair of shoes for each outfit)... needless to say I'VE DOWNSIZED! Now three for me and for each family member (even on REALLY long cruises). No fashionable hats anymore btw... just dumb on my part!

Thanks everyone!!! We do have a balcony so i can maybe bring a coat hanger to hang on a chair for them to dry. Not sure if we are going to do the pools eveyday but I figured we would just play it by ear. I know for sure we are doing the beach at each stop because we love just hanging out on the beach (we use to have a beach cabin my great grandmother left me but Hurrican Ike swept it out to sea :worried:) Thanks for all the advice....the balcony suggestion was a great idea....I never even thought of that!!! This is out first cruise and I have NO idea what I am doing lol!!! Any more packing tips would be greatly appreciated!!!

You can also do laundry on board. On a 7 night you will probably want to at least once.

I planned on using our balcony to dry things too - bought some large clips at the hardware store in the tool section. They are heavy duty metal clips with rubber on the handles and the clip part. They were around two dollars each and I am hoping to use them for towels and suits on the chairs. Don't forget the baby powder if you are doing lots of beach excursions. It helps remove sand from legs. :-)

OP--I bring 2 per person. One can be worn while the other is drying.

BUT...this post has raised a couple of other points. You are not permitted to hang or leave anything out on your balcony. If you do, your stateroom host will bring it in. There is a line in the bathtub to use to dry things.

Can you come on our cruise with us? You know the ropes WAY better than me! (you know from my compliments over time that I'm NOT being sarcastic)

I brought 3 for my almost 2 year old (at the time) for an 8 night. And that was more than enough. OP if your daughter is not potty trained by then, I highly recommend the IPlay bathing suits that have a built in swim diaper. They sell them at Babies R US and Buy Buy Baby and are super cute. They will save you a lot of room since you wont have to bring swim diapers.

Oh -- I read about getting the clips on here to do just that! I had no idea you couldn't do put things on the balcony chairs to dry... Sorry for the suggestion. I guess I will use my clips in the shower then! Thanks for the heads up :) Sometimes I think I read so much and still don't know what I am doing.

because my DS12 & I don't like to put on a wet suit...I bring woolite & rinse them out in the sink, hang them to dry on the line in the shower...esp the suits from the CC beach...w/sand & all...:laundy:

2 for each of us. dry them on the balcony table and chairs or on the clothesline in the shower depending on the time of day.

I used to be a over packer but have quickly realized what a pain in the you know what it is to unpack it all when I get home from vacation. I am going on the Fantasy in November. I take one carry on bag and my purse on vacation. That is it. For a 7 night vacation, I will pack 4 outfits one swimsuit a pair of pj's and a nice outfit. I figure half way through the vacation I will do up all the laundry and wear each outfit again once. I hand wash my swimsuit before I go to bed and hang it up to dry for the next day. I again will do any laundry up prior to coming home and when I get home, I can unpack all the items in my carryon (which will now be clean) and I am done in 15 minutes.

I figure I pick a night in which I go back to the cabin say 10pm and sit in the laundry room for about 1 hour and I'm all done. Makes my life so easy. No checking bags at the airport which usually cost about $25 a bag now and I put that money ( actually less than 25 bucks) towards a little laundry cost and I have it all taken care of.:laundy::thumbsup2

Well on my way to 30 on DCL, I ought to have some idea what is going on....The most fun thing was exploring the Fantasy. New ship, new things. We did miss a lot of our old favorite CMs though. I'll have to add up nights again sometime (many of our cruises were 10+ nights, so they add up quickly.) But then, I've met people who are getting toward 80 cruises and one couple who are shooting for 365 nights on the ships (and getting close).

The funny thing is that the Magic is still my favorite. Yes, she is due for some updating, but she's a grand lady. The Fantasy is more like a funky teenager.
