DH and I were spending our 8th anniversary at WDW. We are glad we got married in October, as this is a great excuse to go to WDW at this time of year. :teeth:

We love the Food and Wine festival, and in recent years have tried to get into some of the various events. This year, we did the Party of the Senses (a favorite), Sweet Sundays (with Keegan Gerhard) and a Food and Wine Pairing (Sake, Sushi, and Sashimi). But, the highlight was the Exquisite Evenings at Epcot.

This event was held at the Odyssey in the Chef's Showplace from 6:30PM-9:00PM. The price was $195, plus tax, gratuity included. The theme was Celebrating the Pride of the Pacific Northwest. It was well worth every penny.

Since we were staying at BWV, we walked over to the International Gateway. I was in a dress, and DH in a shirt and jacket (jackets were required). A CM near the enterance asked if we were going to Exquisite Evenings, and escorted us to a towncar behind the scenes, for a drive to the guest relations building at the main enterance. We waited there for 30 minutes or so, and then they drove us to the Odyssey (again behind the scenes) to our destination.

When we arrived, we entered into a reception room, where there were chefs at an open counter creating the nibbles. Servers were passing trays of the goods, and glasses of wine.

The Reception menu, created by Brian Piasecki of Le Cellier and Rose & Crown Pub and Dining Room, is as follows:

Candied Maple Salmon with Peppercorn Cracker and Pear Jam

Grilled Portabella and Truffle Duxelle, Chive Creme Fraiche

Lavender Dusted Buffalo Tenderloin with Stewed Sweet Onions

The wine:

Chateau Ste Michelle EROICA Riesling, 2005

All the food was wonderful, but the big hit was the buffalo - so lean. It was served very rare, and was so creamy. The portabella/truffle was also very good - it was all very finely chopped, and the chive creme fraiche added a great savory sweetness. I usually love salmon, but this was just too sweet for me - I guess the candied maple part should have given that away.

The wine was paired nicely. I have very little experience with Rieslings, as the ones I have tried have all been too sweet for my taste, but this one was nice, smooth, and tasty, without being too sweet.

OK, it is late, I'm tired, and this has been my first review in 3-4 years. I will continue tomorrow with the rest of the fanatstic feast!

Enjoyed reading your reviews ~ Thanx for sharing.

We got married in Oct. this will be yr no. nine at WDW-big foodies and
found the event on our honeymoon-now though we go in Nov.- we love
all the events and did our first EE at Epcot last year-it truly was wonderful
can't wait 4 days til I leave :)

Thanks for the review! I'm a little confused though. I have no objection to paying $200 a plate for dinner, but for $200 I'd expect more than three dishes. Was that it or just the highlights?
