On the waiting for Starbucks inside the park vs Downtown Disney, one of the reasons I may opt for in-park despite a longer line has to do with the Magic Key discount as the in-park locations apply it on food/drinks and the Downtown Disney ones don't. However, an hour+ wait is long past my limit.

Look up Solvang, CA, a little town with Dutch history and some nods to Hans Christian Anderson. There are hotels in town that would put you in walking distance most things. As for beach towns, we like visiting Carpinteria or Morro Bay.

I don't use Maxpass, but have never had an issue getting my fastpasses to show up on the app. Also no issues with Mobile ordering. Sometimes the map takes a little while to load fully. I don't have experience with the other carriers, so not sure how much of a difference there is.
