    DAS changes coming WDW

I should have been clearer. One of my conditions is progressive. It can cause very different limitations as it progresses, many of which would independently likely qualify for DAS. If only describing the limitations of the condition, and not using it's name, it can be difficult to remember who...

    DAS changes coming WDW

It is abundantly clear to most that one of my conditions is progressive since a clear version of the word has been in the name of the condition for almost 50 years. It also happens to be exceedingly rare. Very few health care providers are familiar with it. Most have never seen a case.

    DAS changes coming WDW

Two easy examples of not lying that are problematic: 1) I have a condition that is progressive and, as such, there are new needs that were not present during my last visit. 2) I have a new condition that needs accommodation. In my particular case, both are true today and are not hypothetical.

    ? About DAS

Under the proposed rules changes, Disney appears to be focusing the DAS on individuals with developmental disabilities such as autism. Even under the current process, your needs would be called "stamina-related" by Disney. Disney would likely typically suggest that you utilize an ECV...

Ramps do not give an advantage. Nor does a Braille menu or signage. Nor does transcription (sign language) services.

2nd bad experience on Spaceship Earth

I haven't ridden in awhile- I can no longer transfer to ANY ride vehicle. It at least used to be that all guests using wheels loaded and unloaded on the "back side/exit" of Spaceship Earth, even going back to the 1980s. That way, wheelchairs and scooters did not have to be moved too far to...

2nd bad experience on Spaceship Earth

Assuming a CM will push either way is an assumption, not a reasonable expectation. At unloading, the CM, unless told otherwise, may not have known that the other members of the OP's party had limitations (and, in my opinion, it is still the OP's responsibility to have a pusher). It's usually...

Last Minute trip for hubby and I! How to stretch our budget?

Don't drink alcohol or soda/water only. Leverage happy hours for food specials.

    DAS changes coming WDW

There's a big difference between a few minutes for one or two riderswitch waits and over an hour of time gone. I'm not saying DAS is the only solution. Disney's data suggests that using DAS alone vastly increases the number of rides possible in a day. A fact of the matter is that from a purely...

    DAS changes coming WDW

Except Disney charges a rather high (non refundable) entrance fee AND from their language changes, altered the language from "if you have allergies..." to "If you are allergic to corn..." leaving individuals with other allergies hanging a bit regarding to what accommodations, if any, might be...

    DAS changes coming WDW

Disney's language on their DAS page has changed again. Formerly, it cited "developmental delay" and then referring to autism. The updated language now says "developmental disabilities" which, by default and in many cases law, include a number of disabilities. The federal government defines...

    DAS changes coming WDW

Some parties have used RS to get "double rides" for people in their party- the very core of the "swap" language. My understanding is that Disney has been clamping down on the number of people accompanying the "second" rider to one. This may limit interest in the "double" ride technique. They...

    DAS changes coming WDW

One issue that would need to be addressed is in smaller overall parties that include a child under 7, an individual with a condition who cannot wait without a companion. due to medical need. and a person 14 or over providing said assistance. That doesn't work, in terms of having someone wait...

Wholeheartedly agree, and consistent with my comment on equal protection under the law earlier in this thread.

    DAS changes coming WDW

While rollators are most welcome, cane seats are not (as seats) as they are fairly unstable and Disney does not want people to fall, get injured, and/or potentially block attraction lines or interrupt regular, non-emergency park operations.

Most regulations specific to health info apply to HIPAA Covered Entities, their Buisness Associates, and government. Whether consumer protection laws apply to health information that is not explicitly in scope of those laws is largely untested in court.

To deny a benefit to someone who does not disclose information but to grant the benefit to someone who does is the same as requiring disclosure to receive the benefit. This disclosure requirement is explicitly prohibited under the ADA. I, for one. am not especially interested in telling a...

    DAS changes coming WDW

Good point to clarify. I was posting 5 as an example scenario, not attempting to state Disney's rules on the matter (though providing an example that is consistent with the rule). I don't think that bringing another person is a reasonable alternative. It is certainly an expensive one, if one...

    DAS changes coming WDW

And an issue with three is if two people can't wait alone (not just would BE alone, but cannot WAIT alone, for example, One unimpaired adult, one impaired individual requiring companion, and a third person who is 5 years old, without impairment. The same issue exists if there are more...
