Same. Going to MK on the 4th. We cannot do the whole "get there early and stay all day" thing -- between the heat, the crowds, and with two kids in tow... the magic would have melted away long before fireworks time for sure. Like you, we're hoping the AP and onsite stay will help us get in later...
