Dessert before Dinner: a trifecta of dining reports? Update 9/22 LTT COMPLETE!

Ya I'm excited we are going to try out club level at Animal Kingdom Lodge.
I think the offerings there sound so good! We've only done club at WL and GF but I want to try it at AKL and BWI.

I wonder if it was Ronnie from the FB group, Mousejunkies? He's somewhat of a celebrity to us there :)
AH, could be! I'm not all that familiar with that group but now I need to check it out and find a picture of him! @pepperandchips would you know?

Oh, my goodness, the JOY on his face!!!!! :) This is adorable.
:rotfl2: I have more from our 2 trips after that one too lol it was so funny!

I feel the same way!!! I keep wanting to talk about what our December game plan will be, and Rob looks at me like, Don't you have a May trip you can obsess about for awhile first? Uh, hello...that trip is already planned and ready to roll. Work with me here!
I know they just don't get it! May is done, buddy. I have a work trip in Oct. but I can't plan anything as it's all being planned for the group; so far one ADR for 100 made but we haven't been told where yet and I'm nervous. So Dec. is what I have for now! And we have to be on the ball for Dec. when the time comes............

Oh, wow. I am completely sold now. I absolutely LOVE those Disney chips! Like seriously can't get enough. I don't usually love pulled pork either, but I'm thinking this dish overall would be perfect...like right now.
You will NOT be disappointed. Honestly I end up leaving a bit of the pork on the dish, but it's just flavored so well and goes with all the other ingredients. With so many F&G dishes I want to try I don't know where I'll fit these in but I'm going to try my best :scratchin

Awww! Hangry at WDW is not a good thing! We have been trying to wing it more on adult trips and we've done alright at lounges, with a small fail at Victoria Falls when we got there too late for food. We are Marrakesh fans (even ended up going there twice in once trip when my college aged daughter's school closed due to the CA fires and she unexpectedly ended up with us and requested it after we'd already gone earlier in the week), That being said, I totally get not being in the mood for a certain place and then having it go badly when the food just isn't right. Thank goodness for ice cream!

What surprised us was his request for BOG dinner! Now this was a family favorite before it was 2 credits. We did the new menu last Thanksgiving and, unknown to you since I failed at doing a dining report for that trip, we did NOT like it. Well, apparently Chris did but we did not. Neither Steve nor I had plans to ever return for dinner but I'm just happy Chris wants to go, so I guess I'm booking whatever he wants...................
I'll be adding a couple other restaurants as I want to have 2 table service a day. No dealing with QS much during Dec. 28-Jan 1st which are our dates, but I don't book till June so plenty of time to figure it out. I'm just so excited to be going for New Years' I had to share our recent conversation.
You're going to have so much fun being there over NYE! We were in Magic Kingdom on NYE and although it's crowded it's still a lot of fun. I haven't tried BOG since they changed to the new set up, I haven't heard that great of things. It's a shame it used to be my favorite place to go in Magic Kingdom.

OMG I need to fit these in to my May trip. If you've had these you understand why I was drooling on the monorail ride over. If you've never had them then you have no idea what you're missing! The chips are like Uber Disney chips with extra crunch and the perfect amount of salt; the cheese sauce is better than any cheese sauce I've ever had and the pulled pork, which I normally don't eat, is a great combination of sweet and smoky. The onions aren't overpowering and neither is my favorite part, the pineapple salsa! So if you don't really like pineapple that much it shouldn't deter you from trying these.
This sounds delicious! I've never eaten at Captain Cooks before, I might need to make my way over there in the future.

close enough to the MK that it wasn't hard to get to and not a hardship to leave the park for and better than any QS in the park. We both like CHH and on some days Pinocchio's is OK but I'll pass on both for these nachos of love
I never thought about going to a MK hotel for a quick lunch, this is a good idea!

I know the meat doesn't look that bad but unfortunately it was. It was almost as dry as my bastilla :( and there was like no Nov. seasoning on it. I was SO disappointed
Ugh, bad meals always suck. I had a similar experience here I went once with my friend and it was a beyond amazing meal. The meat was so tender it just fell apart. Then I went back a few months later and the same dish was awful. It might have been this one, but I don't remember. It's been a few years now I haven't been back.

We left and it was only about 7:45 but we were done so we walked back to the Beach Club. Can I stop for a minute and say how much I love this? It had been awhile since we'd stayed in the BW area and I remembered how convenient it is when leaving Epcot at night. And how convenient it is when you want ice cream at night!
That is the best part of the Epcot hotels is walking to and from the parks. We walked to both this past weekend it was so nice having a five minute walk back to our room.

Oh and this is from Ample Hills (ample hills :D will never get old). Steve asked if I wanted to stand inside and eat since it was like 35 degrees outside but nope, we walked back over to Beach Club with it!
Ample Hills has the best ice cream! That looks delicious.

We have been trying to wing it more on adult trips and we've done alright at lounges, with a small fail at Victoria Falls when we got there too late for food.
We do that sometimes, we've done good at Trader Sam's and Tambu and actually at Victoria Falls lol as well as Territory Lounge more than once. And Jock Lindsey's , we love it there. The lounges are great options!

We are Marrakesh fans
We are too! Don't get me wrong, and we'll go back. Steve enjoyed his meal even though it wasn't where he initially felt like going, it was more me. And if I had ordered something else for my entree (and remembered which app I'd liked back in Nov) the outcome probably would have been different...............

You're going to have so much fun being there over NYE! We were in Magic Kingdom on NYE and although it's crowded it's still a lot of fun.
I can't wait! Last time I was there for NYE I was 15 and there were only 2 parks:o

I haven't tried BOG since they changed to the new set up, I haven't heard that great of things. It's a shame it used to be my favorite place to go in Magic Kingdom.
I heard the same before we went but needed to try it since it was one of our favorites before the change. I know why they did that but it's a disappointment.

I've never eaten at Captain Cooks before, I might need to make my way over there in the future.
It's a good choice for a QS. There are only a handful we like and that's one of them along with Gasparilla Grille at the GF. Maybe the monorail resorts just have the better ones lol? Because I've head good things about the Contempo Cafe too! And very easy to get to there and even back if you're in the MK and want something different.

That is the best part of the Epcot hotels is walking to and from the parks. We walked to both this past weekend it was so nice having a five minute walk back to our room.
Yes  I love the atmosphere of the BW at night too; seeing families walking around, groups of friends chilling with drinks, couples. Love the performers too if you're there early and the calmness if you're there on the later side and there are only a few people around :cloud9: While the WL will stay #1 for me I'll never get tired of being at an Epcot resort!

'

I just requested to join so that I can find out :)
LMK if that's the celeb we saw :D

I am all caught up... I think!

I just booked Spice Road for our August trip, the menu seems a little more to our liking than Marakesh. Sorry it was yucky!

slush, I got my tried and true pear cider in the U.K.:
Magner's Pear Cider:

ffood3-jpg.386556
Seriously Andy's new favorite!

See, as a person who hate even getting a pedicure because they touch your feet and massage them, this picture creeps me out.

Oohh let me back up! To go with our champagne we got more drinks. Steve went with a special mule they make that he's had before:

Strawberry Basil Mule
Russian Standard Vodka, Strawberry Purée, Fresh Basil Leaf, and Fever Tree Ginger Beer
and I tried something I've seen on menus but never tried:
Rekorderlig Premium Pear Cider

citricos2-jpg.387845
That mule sounds delish! And all ciders are not alike!

thinking (and hoping) Ricky won't be. Those of you who know about his 18 month ACL injury will understand that he's hoping to be playing basketball for the school again - finally - in his senior year so he'll have a tournament over Xmas break. Speaking of his injury we're at 18 months with roughly another 4 to go before clearance so almost there!!!
That would be amazing!!!! He better take it nice and slow this time around!!! Fingers crossed!

He already looks so young in this pic!

Pulled Pork Nachos
topped with Onions, Cheese, Spicy Mayo, Tomatoes and Pineapple Salsa

img_0792-jpg.389523
So good!!!!

img_0832-jpg.389656

That's Steve's, not bad! Ricky usually has the best drawing.
It looks like Stitch!

I admit it, a little pissed that we couldn't agree on Y&Y or Sanaa where I had delicious chicken dishes in mind. Steve told me to pick which was a bit ironic so in a moment of hanger and panic I chose Marrakesh.
Ugh, I hate when Andy does this. Grrrr... I feel your pain. But this is why I try to have restaurants picked already for Disney. When Disney Hangry hits, adults or kids, it hits hard!

Ok, so I was just sharing your latest trip report with Joe. We got to the part with you and Steve failing to take a selfie with your Bloody Mary's and he laughed very hard and LOVED the hash tags. He wanted me to tell you that he's looking forward to seeing the 2 of you in May. That's 39 days for me and Joe, 40 days for you and 41 days for Steve...:cool1::cool1::cool1:

I am all caught up... I think!

:thumbsup2 I am behind on EVERYONE'S reports, and I know it. I'm trying not to wait too long before updates here so I can actually add all my reviews from last Thanksgiving before THIS Thanksgiving!

I just booked Spice Road for our August trip, the menu seems a little more to our liking than Marakesh. Sorry it was yucky!
Steve has mentioned trying it there; the menu at Marrakesh works better for me but I'm not opposed to Spice Road. I'll be looking forward to hearing what you think about it :)

Seriously Andy's new favorite!
Right? It's so refreshing.

See, as a person who hate even getting a pedicure because they touch your feet and massage them, this picture creeps me out.
lol, you remind me of my friend from college, anyone or anything touching her feet creeps her out. Sometimes we all get together at the Palisades Mall in Nanuet (they're all in Jersey and PA but don't mind driving there) and before or after we eat we'll get pedi's. She watches for like 2 minutes and then has to leave.

That would be amazing!!!! He better take it nice and slow this time around!!! Fingers crossed!
He is! He has done absolutely nothing he shouldn't be and he's coming along super well. His p/t told him Friday that he really needs running shoes because of all the running he's been doing there, outside and up and down stairs, racing some other kids that are there for torn ACL's. As soon as the weather is a bit nicer he'll be playing basketball with his therapist and the p/t assistants as they have a court there. So first thing Sat. he was at the mall with his friends buying running shoes! I cried when he told me.

It looks like Stitch!
I don't know how but our drawings all end up looking like who they should :confused3 because otherwise I can't even draw a decent stick figure!

Ugh, I hate when Andy does this. Grrrr... I feel your pain. But this is why I try to have restaurants picked already for Disney. When Disney Hangry hits, adults or kids, it hits hard!
:sad2: We always have restaurants picked/booked when the kids are with us, and if we want to change fine; but at least we have them set. Normally Steve and I are good and even when I've been with Cathy we've done a bit of both with a reservation and winging it. But this was one time we failed. I made up for it the next day! And in Feb. it all worked swimmingly :goodvibes

Ok, so I was just sharing your latest trip report with Joe. We got to the part with you and Steve failing to take a selfie with your Bloody Mary's and he laughed very hard and LOVED the hash tags.
It's old people problems man, old people problems :crutches:

He wanted me to tell you that he's looking forward to seeing the 2 of you in May. That's 39 days for me and Joe, 40 days for you and 41 days for Steve...:cool1::cool1::cool1:
You tell Joe the same right back at him  Now it's 39 and 40!!!

Good evening friends, I hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine was fairly lazy except for a short walk I managed to force myself to take today since the weather was finally nice! Going back to the mid-40's for a few days tomorrow though so that'll be the extent of my exercise for a few days! Steve and I also saw Jordan Peele's new movie, "Us". I loved "Get Out". "Us" wasn't bad, it also wasn't what I was expecting. I.....guess I liked it? Anyone else see it? What I'm really looking forward to is the remake of "Pet Semetary" because Stephen King is my all time favorite author. My parents even brought me to his house when I was 17 :goodvibes I most likely won't like it because I normally don't like remakes and from the trailer I saw last night they've changed it too much, but I'll still watch any SK remake.

Trifecta Trip #1 (but really #2)
Day 4= good eats before we go home

Today was our last full day, but I really couldn't complain since we'd gotten an extra 1/2 day due to the expected weather in our area which led to a delicious dinner at Morimoto and our first DAH event. Today however I was going to make sure we had no dining mishaps after yesterday's unfortunate dinner event!

As we got ready for our day I munched on what remained of our 2 Magic Bars:

IMG_0847.JPG

I do need to show a picture of this every time I mention it and I do need to point out that what remained was Steve's bar, not mine. Mine was LONG gone. But seriously look at all the goodness in this!
We were out the door and headed to Disney Springs this morning because that's where I'd booked our lunch the night before when we returned from Epcot.
We went to try and take the bus but there was no time posted on the board, so after about 12 minutes we called our friend Lyft. The one negative is that you're dropped off at the WAY far end of DS when you take Uber or Lyft, down passed House of Blues. But the walk up is pretty:

IMG_0848.JPG

And while our lunch destination is actually in this picture, we had time to shop first. We hit Uniqlo and picked up something for our granddaughter, the Trophy Room for way too fancy MK slides for the boys and I looked through the jewelry store mostly at the purses they had out, and we then made our way back to Maria & Enzo's for our 12:30 reservation:

IMG_0863.JPG

This was our first time here and the menu looked great. The menu at Enzo's Hideaway also looks great but they're not open this early so M&E it was!
I can't remember what time it opened but when we walked inside it was empty. Like, there wasn't even one table with guests there. You walk in on the top level and the pizza window is up there also; there were a couple folks over there. We looked around a bit and soon another group came in and waited with us. I took this picture from our table but in it you can see where the entrance is, up the stairs under the "exit sign:

IMG_0853.JPG

I had absolutely no idea what the theme was here so I was pleasantly surprised when we walked in; it's so cool! All I got at the time was that it had to do with aviation so I looked it up later and the theme is . Some more pictures, I wish I had even more:

IMG_0854.JPG

IMG_0855.JPG
Obviously gates 1 & 2 were around and also all around the 2nd floor were those posters of different destinations. And as you can see.............it wasn't busy. It was also the day after MLK day and I assumed a bunch of the crowds had left.

Our server came over with bread and we ordered drinks. Oh, all the servers here are from Italy which I haven't seen outside of Epcot; the servers being from the country related to the restaurant. We dug in to the bread quickly because we were starving but I managed a picture of the last piece:

IMG_0857.JPG

This was your typical Italian bread, nice and soft in the middle with a hard, flaky crust. The dipping oil it came with was perfect after we added just a touch of pepper. We also ordered drinks that won's surprise you:

Sicilian Mule
Caravella Orangecello, Tito's Vodka, Q Ginger Beer
Bianca Sangria - glass
Cruzan Coconut Rum, Peach Brandy, Dry White Wine, Pineapple, Orange, Lime

IMG_0856.JPG

I'm sure I don't need to tell you who's was who's ;) Steve has enjoyed every "different" Mule he's tried in Disney and this was no different; I LOVED the sangria. The coconut rum was a nice touch.

For an app we got the
Antipasti Trio (minimum of two people)
Arancini, Mozzarella Caprese, Prosciutto di Parma

IMG_0859.JPG

Even with one Arancini this was the perfect size to share. At the time I thought this was close to the best prosciutto I'd ever had but that changed on our Feb. trip :cloud9: It was delicious though! The mozzarella and tomato was too; the arancini was good but not as good as the (previous) arancini at Citricos. They've since changed it and I've heard not so great things unfortunately. We ate all of this which bode well for the staff of M&E but not for us when our entrees came out!

By this time a few more tables had filled up so it wasn't so quiet you could hear a pin drop. I'd gone to the ladies room and walked passed the bar area; the lounge was modeled after a 60's airport Pan Am Lounge, so neat! I'd left my camera on the table so couldn't get a picture and didn't go back. But our entrees had arrived by the time I returned. For Steve:

Chicken Parmigiana
Lightly Breaded Chicken Breast and Pan-fried topped with Tomato, Mozzarella, and Parmesan Cheese over Penne Pasta

IMG_0860.JPG
He got his pasta on the side and barely touched it except to try it, because other than the chicken parm at Il Mulino this was the biggest piece of parm we'd ever seen. HUGE! And THICK. Thicker than the one at Il Mulino. The sauce was delicious and the chicken was tender; it was just thicker than Steve likes it. Still he got through more than half.

CONTINUED IN NEXT POST

MARIA AND ENZO'S LUNCH CONTINUED

For my entree I got:

Ravioli alla Panna
Three-Cheese Ravioli, Parmesan Cream Sauce, Almond Pesto

IMG_0861.JPG

This was a good size, 5 ravioli, and if I hadn't had the app I definitely could have finished it. I made good on 3.5 of them and wished I had room for more because they too were delicious. I love the sauce, it was a little different than the one on Steve's chicken; mine was a bit sweeter but not too sweet by any means.

We were way too full for dessert but the dessert menu looks awesome; we'll be back! I prefer this to every Italian restaurant in the parks and it's very close to Il Mulino for me. I know the kids would like it so it's a possibility for the next time they're with us and I highly recommend it if you're looking for something in DS.

After lunch we headed to our last park of the trip which 90% of the time is MK for us; today was no different. While the crowds weren't showing up in DS they were certainly showing up in MK! I had switched this whole day around including FP's so we had 2 for later; we did Hall of Presidents for the first time in YEARS, rode Space, HM, tried Big Thunder with our FP but of course it was down, and managed to catch my friends the Br'er's hoe'ing down the street along with some Country Bears and other assorted friends:

hoedown1.jpg

hoedown2.jpg

This was around 5, 5:30 and our big lunch had just about worn off. We had a big dinner coming up though so I didn't want a huge snack; to keep the hanger from setting in as it had the night before we grabbed - and yes I used this term in my TR so you'll be hearing it again if you followed that - we grabbed
DEEZ NUTZ:

nuts.jpg

Sorry guys but as a boy mom that phrase will most likely forever be in my head. These are probably way too sugary for many of you but for me they're just fine :thumbsup2 And they kept me fairly happy until our good-bye signature dinner!

Steve and I also saw Jordan Peele's new movie, "Us". I loved "Get Out". "Us" wasn't bad, it also wasn't what I was expecting.

Umm, this is on our list as we loved Get Out too.

What I'm really looking forward to is the remake of "Pet Semetary" because Stephen King is my all time favorite author.

I am too!!!! I LOVE Stephen King!!! It and The Stand were the first 2 SK books I read and Carrie was the first movie I saw and it scared the crap out of me, especially that last scene with the hand coming out of the grave...And, I totally agree that remakes tend to suck.

I am dying for a magic bar.

Maria and Enzo's is on my list, and I can't seem to fit it in at all this year...However, Joe and I are planning on hitting up the Hideaway Bar our first night in May.

Santa Clarita Diet comes back this weekend, just an FYI if you didn't know it already. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Timothy Olyphant.

Maria and Enzo's wasn't even on my radar, but boy your dishes both sounded (and looked) incredible!!!! We typically don't eat at DS, but if I ever need to plan a meal there, I know where I'm heading! Love the theme, too. I'd like to check out the bar/lounge you mentioned, too.

Ah that weather yesterday here was pretty nice. I played 2 hours of tennis outdoors...it was windy but still the sun was great. I think it's supposed to rain again today. I think I was told we've had more rain in Maryland the last year than Seattle...and I believe that!

I'm not hearing great things about "Us" either, despite the hype. We also loved Get Out and in fact watched it over the weekend at home since DH had never seen it but I saw it with DS18 when it came out. He and I loved seeing it the second time because you have a new perspective (and too many inside jokes...DH was ready to leave the room because of our comments) so now I'm just not sure I need to see "Us" right away. I'm also a HUGE Stephen King fan, used to read lots of his books growing up and especially Pet Semetary. I may have to see the remake also...but like you probably won't love it.

This sangria looks delicious. I've never been to this restaurant before. We don't get over to Disney Springs very often.

Antipasti Trio (minimum of two people)
Arancini, Mozzarella Caprese, Prosciutto di Parma
This looks really good. What exactly is Arancini?

He got his pasta on the side and barely touched it except to try it, because other than the chicken parm at Il Mulino this was the biggest piece of parm we'd ever seen. HUGE! And THICK. Thicker than the one at Il Mulino. The sauce was delicious and the chicken was tender; it was just thicker than Steve likes it. Still he got through more than half.
That does look humongous. I'm getting full just looking at it lol.

Ravioli alla Panna
Three-Cheese Ravioli, Parmesan Cream Sauce, Almond Pesto
This sounds really good. I think I've only had the normal pesto with basil, how was the almond pesto?

Sorry guys but as a boy mom that phrase will most likely forever be in my head. These are probably way too sugary for many of you but for me they're just fine :thumbsup2 And they kept me fairly happy until our good-bye signature dinner!
My husband says that all the time.

I don't think there's ever a day where Magic Kingdom isn't crowded.

I've definitely had the whole hangry moment/not sure where to eat deal! Ever since then I usually have something booked and then I'll just change it if we don't want to do it. Its just too risky in Disney! lol

Maria and Enzos looked good! I still need to try it!

Back to eating in Dec: not surprisingly Chris wants to eat at Narcoossee's :thumbsup2 Garden Grill for breakfast :thumbsup2 and Cape May Cafe for Dinner :thumbsup2 I like all these, we love Narcoossee's, and if any of you have read my previous dining reports you may remember Chris's love for CMC's after dinner warm towels:
We should talk with Su-Lynn and Jackie in May to see if we want to meet up at all for a meal! Or just lounge it up!

No dealing with QS much during Dec. 28-Jan 1st which are our dates, but I don't book till June so plenty of time to figure it out. I'm just so excited to be going for New Years' I had to share our recent conversation.
Agreed!

img_0854-jpg.390539
The Christmas decorations were also super cute and aviation themed! Like the garland on the tree was made out of boarding passes strung together!

I really liked my brunch and M&E is on my short list of places to repeat!

It and The Stand were the first 2 SK books I read and Carrie was the first movie I saw and it scared the crap out of me, especially that last scene with the hand coming out of the grave
My 7th grade English teacher got me in to Stephen King when she told us about Cujo and Pet Semetary so those were the first 2 books I read :) When I read "It" in high school it scared the s**t out of me so bad I thew it in the bottom of my closet for about 3 months and then eventually took it out and finished it lol.

Maria and Enzo's is on my list, and I can't seem to fit it in at all this year...However, Joe and I are planning on hitting up the Hideaway Bar our first night in May.
I can never fit everything in I want! Not going there in May, probably won't be able to get there in Oct. since I can't plan the majority of that trip and I'm trying unsuccessfully to fit it in for Dec. But we'll get back there eventually.

Santa Clarita Diet comes back this weekend
I know :cheer2::banana:

We typically don't eat at DS, but if I ever need to plan a meal there, I know where I'm heading! Love the theme, too. I'd like to check out the bar/lounge you mentioned, too.
It's funny we hardly ever ate down there; like 2 TS and a couple QS. Until lately. We love Jock Lindsey's and that includes the kids and in the last 2 years we've tried more restaurants than we did in the previous 10 years. I guess because the kids are older maybe? Or because we outgrew character meals. There are still lots of DS restaurants that don't interest us but it's nice for a change and we do like trying new places :goodvibes

I'm also a HUGE Stephen King fan, used to read lots of his books growing up and especially Pet Semetary. I may have to see the remake also...but like you probably won't love it.
Yeah, I wasn't thrilled with the latest remake of "It" but I'll still see part 2 when it comes out. I do love the original Pet Semetary though! I also love Fred Gwynne and while I also love John Lithgow from what I saw in previews he just isn't cutting it as Judd :(

I've never been to this restaurant before. We don't get over to Disney Springs very often.
Steve didn't use to love going there but he's coming around to it! And I know I sound like a broken record but we'd go to Jock Lindsey's like every day lol. I think of all the newer places we've tried, other than Jock's this has been our favorite.

This looks really good. What exactly is Arancini?
It's basically an Italian rice ball :) Creamy! Well when it's good it's creamy!

This sounds really good. I think I've only had the normal pesto with basil, how was the almond pesto?
Honestly I think I liked it better.....not quite as spicy maybe? Although also not a heavy almond flavor; I don't normally like almond except in small doses and I thought this was great.
