Hello Fellow Disney Lovers. After reading the boards obsessively since planning my first solo trip, I wanted to report back on how it went...it was absolutely wonderful:flower1:

I stayed at CBR in Martinique. It was an excellent location. I felt safe and it was very convenient to Old Port Royale, the buses, the pools and the Coca-Cola refill station.

The staff were absolutely wonderful and welcoming.

I upgraded my one day per park passes to an Annual Pass. I was really glad I did as it gave me the flexibility to park hop at anytime. I always found myself wanting to return to Epcot each day for dinner and strolling through the world.

My trip was very laid back. Having good use of Fast passes allowed me to schedule a morning or afternoon at the parks with plenty of time to sit by the pool and visit Disney Springs and then return to a park for some evening activity.

The only thing I did not love about CBR was the food options. I was on QS dining plan. Next trip I am planning without dining plan. It was too much food for me and on my last day, I had 9 snack credits to use. I used them to purchase pastries from France and a ham & cheese croissant for my trip to the airport the next day. I also stopped at the German pavilion and purchased the caramel popcorn, caramel apple and chocolate caramel squares. All traveled well home in my carry on. I had brought ziploc bags with me from home...just in case. My last credit was used on a snack mix from the resort gift shop. All of these things were unnecessary, but I didn't want these credits to go to waste. I also ordered an alcoholic beverage with my meals only because it was included and it made the dining plan a better value, but not necessarily better for me. I also felt the change in coffee vendors greatly improved the taste and quality of the coffee. I brought my french press with me this trip because Disney coffee was historically terrible, but I don't think I will next trip (5/6-5/10).

I never felt lonely or awkward being alone. Other posters reminded us all that no one is paying attention to you, they are having their own good time...I definitely found this to be true. Being solo really helped me to navigate crowds and certainly to take advantage of single rider lines and to adjust my day according to how I was feeling. I changed it up quite a bit...because I could. No one to disappoint. The only park I took advantage of extra magic hours was AK. So glad I did because I got to do Flight of Passage twice...once from rope drop and the other using my fast pass. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this attraction. If you don't use fast pass or rope drop, you are looking at waiting a very long time. Once I walked by and it was a 195 minute wait...yikes.

I also really enjoyed walking from HS to Epcot using the walking path. This was so enjoyable and relaxing and something my family never wanted to do. The other thing I loved being solo was the time I had to reflect and take it all in. One thing that I loved noticing was that WDW is really a wonderful global community. In a time where there is so much divisiveness in our country and the world, it was nice to see people form all over the world all there for the same love of family, fun and Disney. I loved sharing smiles and joy with everyone around me regardless of whether we spoke the same language. Seeing families and friends share their excitement about the attractions we had just been on or anticipating was just absolute fun! This was a great trip all around and I am planning on going back in May and hopefully the end of September as well :P

Sounds like a great trip! I just got back a few days ago- weather wasn't too bad- just a few real cold days, and crowds weren't bad at all.

Hi David. I agree. The weather and crowds were not too bad. The busiest day I encountered was on my day of arrival on 1/6. I went to Epcot and it was wall to wall people. I worried that the rest of the week would be the same, but it was ok :-)

i'm going on my first solo trip in march! i'm a little bit nervous but i think it should be fun!

I was very nervous too, but the cast members were great. I did make a special request which was pretty general..."I am traveling alone and would really appreciate being in a convenient and safe location for a solo traveler." I was very appreciative for their location assignment.

You will be amazed at how much fun you can have by yourself:-)

that's a good idea to ask for that! i'll have to remember to do that

I've always found that the CMs seem to be much more talkative when I'm solo. I've gotten all kinds of insider tips. I remember one time when I was solo, a CM told me that a TV crew was filming that day- "But don't tell any of the guests."

I will concur on 1/6. Epcot was mayhem that evening.

How fun! I’m planning my first trip to WDW in March and I’m going soloalso. A little overwhelming trying to plan and a bit nervous but excited as well.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I started planning my first solo trip for DEC '19 and I am a little nervous about getting lonely for a week. Your post helped calm my nerves

Just keep planning and anticipating the wonder of it all. December will have lots of exciting things to take in so I think you may be too busy enjoying the experience to remember you are solo:earboy2:.

Thank you for sharing. I am thinking of doing a solo trip during the Christmas season. I am a little nervous about it, but I have read so many positive comments about solo trips.

So happy to hear you had a great time! I finally got around to taking my first solo trip too and I am in complete agreement, it was absolutely wonderful and I'm itching to go again - never once felt lonely. I also loved hearing how you changed up your plans from time to time with no worries, that has to be one of the most wonderful points about going alone, whatever you happen to feel like at the time, awesome! Agreed on skipping the dinning plan, I mean QS might be okay but I wouldn't want to be tied down to lots of reservations. I really enjoyed being able to just snack around here and there.
Hope you have more awesome adventures on future trips as well! Oh, and thanks for letting people know that going solo is actually an awesome way to see Disney World!

Thank you so much for posting!! I, like you, upgraded to an annual pass the last time I was there with my daughter, I am heading down in 2 weeks with a friend and then to CBR with my daughter in June. Thinking of doing a solo trip(my first one ever) at the end of September as well. Appreciate your info on your trip and love that you are already planning for more!
Oh and agree the meal plan is way too much food. My best value was Mexico i would get the tacos with a patron margarita it think the cost would have been around $22. I like grazing hence no meal plan. Would you go back to CBR as a solo or try somewhere new?

I just did my first solo trip Dec 2018 and it was amazing. It was great to see all the decorations. I was gone a total of 13 days between Disney and universal and didn’t ever feel lonely. And there are so many happy people in Disney it’s easy to start up a conversation with a stranger from time to time waiting for the bus or something! Unlike the OP since I could do the trip however I wanted I did it full steam ahead the whole time. Walked over 100 miles. If I would’ve brought someone else along with me they would’ve killed me halfway through the trip. It was great to do the trip my way and change plans depending on what I felt like.

I'm local to WDW and had zero concerns traveling solo if a family/friend couldn't make it. We had AP's last year, but I let them run out. We take a hiatus from each theme park until enough new attractions/experiences warrant the time/purchase. As such, we'll probably purchase our next AP to overlap the 50th Anniversary.

Glad you really enjoyed it!
