Experienced DAS user but question

We use the DAS for our ASD child and it is wonderful but I have a different question.

We are AP holders so DAS is usually good for about 90 days before we have to renew it. We are headed down tomorrow and I was wondering if I could enter a park during the morning hours to get his DAS return time(with him still being back at condo with the rest of the family) so that when we go to the parks in the afternoon we can just use it along with our FPs already scheduled. He usually only makes it about 2 hours before the sensory gets to be too much which really limited him to about 2 fps. I was thinking if we could arrive a few minutes before that first FP and utilize his DAS this would allow us to get 3 rides in that 2 hour window before he starts to have issues.

So does his band have to show that he has entered the park that day to get his return time?

No reason you shouldn't be able to do that. He has to be with you to use the DAS, but anyone can get the return time.

It may or may not work.
When DAS was first put onto Magicbands, the DAS holder had to have entered the park to make a Return Time. Anyone in the ‘DAS Group’ could get a Return Time, but the DAS holder’s ticket had to have been used first to get into the park.
(DAS is authorized for up to 60 days, so if you last ‘renewed’ it 90 days ago, you will need to renew it).

I don’t know if that is still the case. Every time we were thinking of doing it, we had someone who had to be linked to DAS, so our daughter had to be in the park anyway.

I tried this my friend went before I was on the park the CM said the DAS ( I use the DAS) holder must be on the park.

And the DAS is good for 60 days

Unfortunately this won't work. About a year ago Disney closed the loophole where they didn't require a magic band to be scanned into the park gate in order for Fast Passes / DAS to be available. People were bringing in like 20 magic bands to get a ton of fast passes. :/ So now your ticket / band MUST be scanned at the gate before you can use any of its functions. It may still work, but you risk getting your ticket nullified or banned.

You could try stoping in GR and explaining your sons need they might be able to do something for your son

Also if you can get there when the park opens the lines are short then. You could have your first FP for when the park opens go to a ride close by with a short wait do this ride then your FP. Might be too late to change FP now but afternoon tend to be very crowded times

Thanks all. I do remember the SDFP loophole that was being used and it makes sense that return times are part of this loophole that was closed.

We normally do later fps with all the kids and in an attempt to relax on vacation, but I think we will try to get there a little earlier on our HS day as this is THE park that we are trying to get that return time for SDD since we got fps for the other big items for him.
