Hi All,

Not been on here in a while but have been to Disney many times - in the days before children we went as a couple always in Sept and was wonderfully quiet with great weather!

Now our children will soon be at University we are looking to go either June or Sept for 3 weeks to avoid school holiday £££ - which is best?

Thanks in advance !!

From my experience I would say that June is hotter but September wetter. June is American school holidays so a bit busier. I would pump for September. In fact, I have! See you there!

I'd do September to take advantage of the Food and Wine festival. June tends to be busier with tour groups too.

My experience for September was amazing. Never been in June, but seem usually more crowded.

I would opt for September, knowing that it can rain a lot (but who cares, you're at Disney!)

Another vote for September here. Lower crowd and a couple of events are running: Food and Wine and Halloween parties.
However, September is still in the middle of the Hurricane season, so there's a little risk of disruption. Hurricanes do not affect Orlando often, but it happens and it happened last year.

September is a good time to go, however not the first week.
In September there is the Labor Day Holiday (first week). Southern States (where school starts in August) use that as a long weekend tacking on the Friday before, Northeastern States use that week as the last holiday week before their school sessions start up later that week.
The second to the third week of the month is better crowd wise, again weather may be wetter but still nice.
Honestly the rain in FL comes as a down pour for a short time and then clears so that rain break cools things down and rids the air of humidity for a bit.
The second to third week is where I would go and have usually gone. It used to be super quiet back in the 90's and early 2000's but now with the Mickey Halloween Party it is a bit more crowded the third week, still better than June. I wouldn't go after the third week because of Halloween crowds.

June has the southern states on summer holiday at the start of the month and the northern states on summer break at the end of the month so an influx of people throughout the month.

very good advice!!

June into July is outrageously hot. With guaranteed downpour at 4pm. Not been in Sept, but lots prefer it.

Check Uni dates too, I was always done with Exams by Mid May, so could do a late May trip maybe?

but in late May you run into memorial day weekend crowds..
and also, even though kids are still in school, parents have no issues with yanking them out of school towards the end of the school year..
so the crowds are higher in may than in september...at least in our experience..

Good points! - But weather is better in May :)

Only thing with Sept from the UK is going by here and IG, thats when everyone plans their trip because it's 'quietest' which makes it more expensive for UK Flights lol

from israel, where i live, the highest flight prices by far are in the summer (july/august)
they can easily be double the price of other times of the year.
unfortunately, trips of the whole family (kids and grandkids) can only be in the summer as all of our kids and their spouses are teachers and so tied to the school year...
so we're stuck with the high air fares and insanely hot and humid summer weather in orlando...

My daughter was Born this April, so we've got a few years of going when we like haha, I'm sure she'll be after birthday trips in the future!

Apart from one Christmas trip have always gone around the end of August and into September. Last visit was mid September and this one is for 3 weeks from September 11th.

Thank you everyone that’s really helpful - if hubby can get time off in Sept that’s when we will go!!

We have been most months over the years and prefer September. Bit quieter, cheaper flights.
Only downside it is hurricane season. We arrived 2 days before Irma last year, our cruise was cancelled and we were confined to Animal Kingdom Lodge for two days. The parks were eerily empty before and after though so most rides a walk on. Didn't put us off still going September this year.
