It's MARVEL-ous on the MAGIC! Oct 2017 Canada Coast Cruise COMPLETE! See Ya Real Soon!

Great pictures of Peggy's Cove! I'm disappointed by your maple syrup experience though. I'm definitely biased, since Nathan's family owned a sugarbush for many years and they still help out there after selling it. Nathan has been giving tours of the boiling rooms ever since he was old enough to remember the spiel. It's not a tourist destination by any means, but it sounds like their experience is much more immersive than what you guys saw on your tour! Maybe they do more during sap season in the spring, and it was just like that because you went during the fall. :confused3

Your pirate outfits are adorable! What great interactions you had with Hook and Smee :goodvibes

Great update! Peggy's Cove looks so pretty, even if it was windy. Glad you made good use of your Rainforest Room pass. I'm still debating getting one, but I think I will. I love how relaxing it looks in there. All your ports look really fun. And I love your pirate outfits. You & Steve look like you have so much fun with the characters, too! I love that you had Captain Hook all worried about that Croc! :goodvibes:

We always used to go to Maple Syrup days at our local nature center for demonstrations and tastings. It sounds like your stop was a bit of a letdown, but I mean a little shopping and a little candy can't be all bad, right? :)

Thumbs up on your choice to spend some time in the rainforest room for the afternoon!! I LOVED that place!!!!! Every time you mention it, I want to drop everything and book a cruise.

No fireworks though, bummer. We got dressed in our finest pirate bear and before dinner, we took some pictures in the Atrium.
Pirate Night is so much fun!!! What a bummer for no fireworks though :(

Don't you love Steve's "arrrgh!" face?
The outfits look great!

And Steve was VERY into his role! Ha!

My goodness that town is gorgeous. I want to climb into some of those pictures! Hope the weather didn't make for rough sailing. That's one of my fears about cruising -- that I'll just feel sick the whole time. Steve's argh face is hysterical. Looks like a fun pirate night!

As you can see, the coach was not even that full, so I made Steve go sit in his own row of seats, LOL.

Haha…of course! And that looks like a Disney Bus, so you must've felt right at home!

The lobster was good but not as good as the one we had on PEI though. The meal only came with the lobster, and a small side of mac salad and cole slaw. There really was nothing else part of the entree. I don't even think we got bread or soup (I saw others get it though but not sure if they were part of our tour). So I did not think lunch was that filling at all, especially because the lobsters are a little small. Or maybe it's just me. It's probably just me. #hungryhungryhippo

That's not a substantial meal…I would think they'd give you SOMETHING else to go with it :confused3

Apparently Steve and his mom were not full either so they went and got themselves a lobster roll!

I don't blame them…that looks pretty good!

That little town looks so pretty. I had more quoted but my Mac started acting funky and reloaded the page because it was using too much energy, or something? I think because I was trying to export videos of my own at the same time. Anyway, all of my quotes were lost :sad1:

My outfit was a rather lazy one.

You guys look amazing, AS USUAL!

Don't you love Steve's "arrrgh!" face?

Perfect!

Those two always give some of the best interactions. The chipmunks too.

They are so funny when they play off of each other!

Maybe they do more during sap season in the spring, and it was just like that because you went during the fall. :confused3

I know! I was expecting something a bit more interactive or functional but didn't think we'd just be watching a video. But I guess it's more of a merchandising center and not really a sugarbush as you say. I'd love to visit a real life sugarbush one day, that must be really fun.

Your pirate outfits are adorable! What great interactions you had with Hook and Smee :goodvibes

Pirate night is always so fun in terms of costumes and characters!

:goodvibes:

Thank you! It was a charming little seaside village. I think it'll be pretty awesome in the summer months.
The Rainforest Room is seriously like my favorite thing ever. It's a must-do for every cruise, especially in the newer ships, their rooms are soooo nice!

Thanks! It's fun to dress up for Pirate night! Although I think I skipped most of the one we did in 2016 just because we were at Remy that night on the Fantasy. I partook in a little bit of fun though before dinner. :)

We always used to go to Maple Syrup days at our local nature center for demonstrations and tastings. It sounds like your stop was a bit of a letdown, but I mean a little shopping and a little candy can't be all bad, right? :)

Yeah it is what it is...a way for tourists to spend even more money!! Haha, it was fine though and glad it wasn't a long involved stop as we were all pretty tired from being windblown at Peggy's Cove. And you're right a little sweetness never hurt anyone. :)

Thumbs up on your choice to spend some time in the rainforest room for the afternoon!! I LOVED that place!!!!! Every time you mention it, I want to drop everything and book a cruise.

Haha, I know!! Me too! A little bit of bliss every day - it was vacation after all!

I love how you used your bandana. It's super cute that way! I might have to borrow your idea if my head's not too big that is!

Thank you! Haha I had to do it that way because if I tried to tie it like a kerchief it won't stay on my head properly. So the headband look worked better!

The outfits look great!

And Steve was VERY into his role! Ha!

Thank you!!
Yeah he was...I think I created a monster! pirate:

My goodness that town is gorgeous. I want to climb into some of those pictures! Hope the weather didn't make for rough sailing. That's one of my fears about cruising -- that I'll just feel sick the whole time. Steve's argh face is hysterical. Looks like a fun pirate night!

It's a really pretty seaside town. It's kinda like a storybook setting.
Er, the weather was not the best sailing back...it was thankfully at the end of the trip when most people have found their sea legs.
Steve has really taken to this whole character thing, haha. I think more of Disney is rubbing off on him.

Haha…of course! And that looks like a Disney Bus, so you must've felt right at home!

Yes!! Just like Magical Express! Except that we don't have to go home!

That's not a substantial meal…I would think they'd give you SOMETHING else to go with it :confused3

Right? I'm not just hungry all the time...right?

That little town looks so pretty. I had more quoted but my Mac started acting funky and reloaded the page because it was using too much energy, or something? I think because I was trying to export videos of my own at the same time. Anyway, all of my quotes were lost :sad1:

Aww, it's happened to me more times than I can imagine too. That sucks, but glad you're here regardless :)

You guys look amazing, AS USUAL!

Thank you!! :)

(PSA: Is anyone going to be at WDW from June 9-11, basically like 2 weeks from now? I have booked myself on a solo weekend trip and wanted to see if anyone else is going as well!)

Day 6 Part 3: Pirate Night Dinner

Here are some pics from the Pirate Show in the atrium. Since it was indoors it got crowded so there wasn't enough room to be front and center. I just took this from some corner I nudged my way into. I think it was also at this time I put down a placeholder for another cruise. We did not pick one at that time but I think most of you know that our next cruise is Sept 2019 Alaska on the Wonder. So excited but it's a LOOONG time away.

Dinner tonight was in Carioca's which seemed fitting - a nice tropical Caribbean vibe for Pirate Night! Although now it's Rapunzel's Royal Table which I am even MORE excited to dine in. I feel like I need to book a cruise on the Magic again like right now...you know, solely for research purposes. :rolleyes1

I love how everyone is into Pirate night. Not everyone was into Marvel Day at Sea, or Halloween on the High Seas, but you find that almost everyone is into Pirate night!!

We started with the bread which was various rolls and cornbread, which I think they term "Johnny Cake", served with a mango sauce.

I liked the mango dipping sauce. I'm a fan of tropical fruits in general.

For an appetizer I tried the Boucanier: Smoked Saucisson, Baked Brie, Brioche and Honey with sliced Figs and Caramelized Orange

I had no idea what it was when they set it down in front of me. Was it baked brie, topped with sausage and fruits? Was it a casserole with a sausage on top? I did not taste really see or taste any fruit though. I was not a fan of this and I'm not even sure the explanation on the menu matched the dish.

Yeah...you would be confused too. I tried to eat a little but but I had no idea what was going on. I must have looked so perplexed as our server Desmond asked if he could get me anything else and so I perused the menu and end up with:

Sri Sumbhajee’s Vegetable Samosa with Potato Peas, Garlic, Cumin and Ginger served with Tamarind Chutney and a plain Yogurt Raita.
This was much better than the appetizer I had before although not earth-shattering good.

I believe Steve got the Carrot soup

I had to give most of my crab "arepa" to Steve since I wasn't sure if I would be allergic to it. I think I thought the fish was ok but not memorable.

Steve got the Jerk Chicken which was served with rice and beans. He said it did not taste like jerk chicken though! Tonight must have been a night of misnomers as we didn't really think the food matched the descriptions!

Peggy's Cove is just dripping in charm!!!

Gorgeous photos as always!

Yeah, the pirate night menu is always my least fave as well....but that macadamia tart, drool. I had it last week on the Wonder, hands down one of my fave desserts on Disney!

Love how many people dressed up for pirate night on your cruise, though!

(PSA: Is anyone going to be at WDW from June 9-11, basically like 2 weeks from now? I have booked myself on a solo weekend trip and wanted to see if anyone else is going as well!)

I wish! Sounds fun!

I think it was also at this time I put down a placeholder for another cruise. We did not pick one at that time but I think most of you know that our next cruise is Sept 2019 Alaska on the Wonder. So excited but it's a LOOONG time away.

:cool1:

I'm proud of my Father in Law for being the swashbuckler that he is!

I had no idea what it was when they set it down in front of me. Was it baked brie, topped with sausage and fruits? Was it a casserole with a sausage on top? I know! I was expecting something a bit more interactive or functional but didn't think we'd just be watching a video. But I guess it's more of a merchandising center and not really a sugarbush as you say. I'd love to visit a real life sugarbush one day, that must be really fun.

If you ever find yourself in New Brunswick in the spring, we'll make you pancakes, and show you the boiling room, and make maple taffy on the snow. :P

I'm proud of my Father in Law for being the swashbuckler that he is!

:rotfl: Awesome!

We started with the bread which was various rolls and cornbread, which I think they term "Johnny Cake", served with a mango sauce.

My great grandmother always made us Johnny Cake!

Tonight's towel/blanket animal. Octopus?

Great update! And thanks for making me glad that we won't have pirate night with that menu on our upcoming cruise. :rotfl: Seriously, the dessert is the only thing that looked good and you always choose a nice variety of things when you order. I love how your FIL got into the whole pirate thing, too!

He looks so serious about it too!

The only down side, is it looks super crowded!

Sri Sumbhajee’s Vegetable Samosa with Potato Peas, Garlic, Cumin and Ginger served with Tamarind Chutney and a plain Yogurt Raita.
This was much better than the appetizer I had before although not earth-shattering good.
Yum! I love samosas! So good.

I love how everyone is into Pirate night. Not everyone was into Marvel Day at Sea, or Halloween on the High Seas, but you find that almost everyone is into Pirate night!!

That was our observation too. DH and I were practically the only adults who dressed for Marvel Day at Sea but it seemed like at least half the ship was in pirate gear.

This one really threw us too. I was expecting a link of sausage with some cheesy bread thing on the side and instead got a casserole. Which we did not eat. The fruit really overpowered it. Our waiters didn't comment though.

Our bus took a drive and after about 25 minutes we ended up at the Maple Syrup factory. OK I fell asleep on the bus so I was a little groggy coming out so I don't really have pictures. Basically we were all taken to a room and we watched a video of the syrup process and we were handed each a maple syrup candy individually-wrapped. We could then taste and buy maple syrup products in the store area. this "factory" seemed to be a designated stop for tourists and I would probably skip this next time as you can get very good maple syrup products else where near port and other destinations. I think I was expecting more of a factory setting and live scenes of them bottling stuff. We did however just take advantage of the time here to pick up stuff for friends and family and they sold cute little bottles of the syrup which are easy to take home.
Yeah, that doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun! I prefer Sugar Shacks from Quebec: a huge cabin-like banquet facility where they have the kettle and syrup making apparatus outside as well as troughs of snow. Then they ladle some of it onto the snow, you grab a popsicle stick, and make your own syrup lollipop. It also usually has a huge AYCE meal, which is family-style for the long tables. Most of it is breakfast food style (even at dinner), but it ALL has maple syrup. YUM!!

Lots of interesting foods for dinner!! I really liked Steve's lettuce in a cup LOL Nice of your server to bring you something else when your odd sausage-topped fruit something-or-other. I don't actually remember from our cruise (a million years ago!) but food is all included, right? You can just get something else, no charge?
