2018 Free Dining Watch Thread V3

Do you know if it will mess up my reservation if I have to take a day off?

Yes, changing a reservation may mean you give up the promo. You will only be able to change dates with the promo if your new dates are in the promo inventory. You can't simply drop dates from reservations unless guest services gets involved and gives the ok on the change.

I was planning on setting my alarm for 3am and now I'm thinking I might just try to get a few hours and then get up around midnight. Wouldn't it be nice to have it drop at like 12:30 then we could all be dreaming sweet Disney dreams by 1am??

That would be glorious. That would mean it would be 9:30pm PST and I could go to bed at a normal hour and not wake up every hour to refresh my phone like I did last night!

P.s. with 4 days and little kids , I would suggest 2 days at MK, 1 day at AK, and a split day at Epcot and DHS.

The Epcot/DHS debate I've been having with myself is neverending. My 4 year old (who is will be turning 5 while we are there), is a Frozen Fanatic (no surprise there). The only thing outside Epcot I could find that was really up her alley was the Frozen Sing-A-Long at DHS. With Toy Story Land opening this year, I was pretty set that we would just forego Epcot and go to DHS (although to be honest, neither of my girls have gotten into the Toy Story thing, just me and my husband LOL). I was thinking about replanning the DHS day and replacing a full Epcot day instead.

I should go search some posts for the best little kid friendly stuff in Epcot and see if it's just worth committing to that instead of DHS. Soooo many choices. :teacher:

Thank you for the tips!

How long is your cruise? Tickets expire 14 days after first use, so, if your cruise isn't long, it would actually be advantageous to buy a ticket longer than 3 or 4 days to cover some of your park days after your cruise.

The cruise is 7 nights. We would buy the 10 day tickets but not use them until the 2nd stay so this would satisfy the package requirements. We would then get MVMCP tickets for the first stay. The only problem is that it's a 3 night stay if the requirement becomes 4 nights. We arrive in Orlando after 6pm on the Thursday and will leave early in the morning on the Sunday morning so there is no where to add the 4th night.

Can I get a VISA now so I can get the FD offer for early August? Do I have to have the actual card now in order to get the FD?

A travel agent can definitely modify a reservation online in most circumstances. I just double checked a client's reservation to make sure that it had the "modify reservation" link and it's right there for me to use.

I'm so glad you used that phrase! Yes, in most circumstances. Unfortunately, nobody knows what will happen to the consumer or TA sites when this promo drops. Disney just updated the TA site and it hasn't been tested with the traffic of a popular promo as of yet. A few years ago, the TA site completely crashed on FD drop day. Fingers crossed that doesn't happen again.

My advice to anyone staying up tonight to try to book or modify - if you find what you want and can't book or modify online, be on the phone at 7 am. Or even 6:55 am and just keep hitting redial and hope your call gets picked up as soon as the lines open. After 7 am, the phone lines will build and it may be a very long day on hold.

Oh yes, I understand your dilemma now! Well, that's too bad. I would definitely be on the lookout for any room-only discounts that may apply to your dates! I have a mid-November stay which looks like will not qualify for FD, so I'm hoping for a RO discount!

I am going for a quick weekend at the end of August but not staying long enough for FD. But, I'm totally coming down for a weekend for the express purpose of booking a bounceback for next year, so yeah...I have a problem.

Lol, I’m so glad to hear I’m not the only one! My husband and I are also heading down in early September for an extra long weekend, our is excuse is we’re hitting the food and wine festival, but secretly we both know it’s to book a bounce back (hopefully a good one, fingers crossed!) for our 2019 family trip! We’re considering FD for sept, but if the requirements are 4 day tickets, it’ll be too much for us

It literally took me about 3 minutes to modify mine last year..........then I couldn’t fall asleep afterwards, let alone trying to sleep beforehand!!!!!!!!!

I was Spazzzzzzing!!!:dancer::dancer::dancer:
Really, what resort and how many days? I am booked at pop since last month for 8/25-9/5 and 10 day park hopper plus with quick serve plan and prefered pool room. Fingers crossed it's just a few minutes for me too! What do you think?

I was searching the posts for something I had missed, and had to laugh at the number of times "do the math!" phrase appeared. Did you know that if you enter "math" in the search box, there are TEN pages of messages that contain that word? :rotfl2:

Tell THAT to your 12 y.o., when he asks "so why do I need to learn this stuff?" :rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1 Just passing the time.

What is the quickest way to tell if it dropped when I wake up in the middle of night if I wake up in the middle of the night?

Well, my kids really liked Soarin' in addition to the Frozen stuff in Norway at Epcot. We also did the princess storybook dining for lunch at Akershus and loved that. Don't forget that a lot of the princesses meet in the countries around the world. Look online for times of day they're there, but there's Snow White in Germany, Jasmine in Morocco, Belle in France, Mulan in China, and more.
