*** The Official August 2018 Thread*** - let's have some fun....

We're there in August this year!

Arriving on the 2nd and staying in Caribbean Beach Resort for a week, then moving to a villa offsite, but the WDW ticket runs until 15th.

I think I'm more excited than the kids about this, although my youngest, who will be 7, is saying that he'll try some of the rides he wouldn't do last year when we were there. I think he might bottle it when we're in the queue, but we'll see.

I'm mostly typing this out so that I can get it clear in my mind but if anyone has input into our plans then please post! Any days we don't have breakfast plans we will either eat at Mara or grab something at Starbucks

Aug 21 - arrival @ 5:30pm, check in at hotel, I will leave DH and DS at AKL and go to DS to exchange our Canadian vouchers and activate tickets.
Aug 22 - Epcot no breakfast or lunch plans, Dinner ADR @ Tutto Italia
Aug 23 - MK no breakfast plans, lunch ADR @ Plaza, going to try for a dinner ADR @ BOG when they open ADRs tomorrow
Aug 24 - AK no breakfast or dinner ADRs, lunch ADR @ Tiffins
Aug 25 - DHS no breakfast or dinner ADR, lunch ADR @ SciFi, also looking at booking the Fantasmic! Dessert VIP - any input on this???

Here is where our plans changed because of the possible MNSSHP on the 28th. We were going to take Aug 26 as our no-park day but instead will switch that to the party day. this way we will be able to maximize our 7 day tickets and hit each park twice.

Aug 26 - Epcot - no breakfast plans, lunch ADR @ 9 Dragons, late dinner ADR @ CG and planning on staying to watch the fireworks from their viewing area.
Aug 27 - DHS - still no breakfast plans! No lunch ones either but dinner ADR @ Sanaa
Aug 28 - MNSSHP (I hope!) Breakfast at Sanaa, lunch ??? dinner ???

We check out on the 29th but are staying at a hotel near MCO because our flight home on the 30th leaves at 7am. This is our last (sob) day at the parks.

Aug 29 - AK - no breakfast plans but lunch @ Yak&Yeti

Whew, that seems like a lot of plans!

So, here are a couple of questions:
1. Any insight into the F! dessert/VIP package? We have done the World of Color dessert at DL as well as the old F! dessert also at DL.

2. On our no-park/MNSSHP day I was thinking of resort hopping and finding somewhere for us to have lunch, any recs? We do not want any character meals or buffets.

Thanks!

We did a late lunch at WCC and took the boat over to MK after. Definitely recommend.

First I want to say that Tiffins is AMAZING! I've eaten there 3x, twice for dinner and once for lunch, and if I had it my way I'd eat there every single trip. We absolutely love Citricos but Tiffins has replaced Citricos as our favorite signature :cloud9:
As for the Fantasmic! Dessert party, we have it booked for next month and I'm really looking forward to it! I know someone who did it shortly after it started and had pretty positive things to say about it, so we'll see :) We're going during spring break and haven't seen F! in a couple years so I think getting the package will work in our favor, otherwise I like that the desserts are boxed up so you can take what you don't eat with you.

For those of you who have been able to book ADRs on the website, what internet browser are you using? Chrome didn't work for me at all on Sunday and I ended up using the app which worked great. I have a split stay though and wasn't able to book the whole 180+10 so the second leg of my booking is tomorrow morning & I'm wondering if I would have better luck with Internet Explorer or something. I wouldn't mind using the app again, I just prefer the website- when it works :upsidedow. Thanks!
I just did mine in Chrome. In the past, I've used Firefox as well.

Oh, yeah, and I did my ADR's . . . it was a busy weekend / week for me.

Got everything I wanted at the exact times I wanted, with just one exception. Rose and Crown on our first night. I was hoping for 7:30, best I could do was 6:45. Got an 'Ohana at 5:15 on a MK day, so should give us time to eat, and get back to the park before Happily Ever After. Got an 8:00 CP breakfast, 1:00 Tusker House lunch, 7:00 Chef Mickey's, 8:00 1900 Park Fare. Life is good. Hope FP+ go as well as ADR's did.

According to a CM I spoke with this morning while try to make an ADR during the dates, it's looking like BOG will be closed for some kind of short refurb August 20-25th. Others here on the boards are reporting the same.

Ugh bummer for me and the kids that like BoG but a win for DH and the kids that do not care for it lol

That sucks, the night I was trying to get was August 23!

Anyone book BOG dinner today to try out the new menu? I got it for our arrival night 8/18, we've always loved it and we're excited about the changes!

Joining in the fun!

I have not booked yet, but planning to book a bounceback when I am there 10 days from now!

Planning on Art of Animation August 16-20. Our first trip to WDW in the Summer.

It will be myself, DH, our boys (12 & 5) and my parents. This will be our 5th time going as a family, but first time my parents are joining us.

We plan to do AK and HS for Toy Story Land, with a day at Typhoon Lagoon. I made ADRs for Ohana dinner - our fav, 1900 Park Far breakfast - will be a first and 50s Prime Time for lunch.

I booked for 8/18 as well. It’s my daughters fave and the new menu looks good. Being down there 12 Days we book a few 2 credit places as it’s too much to eat a big sit down meal every day anyway.

We were planning to do an ADR for 8/16 but with the change to 2 credits and a menu that appeals to only one person in our party, we are going to do an extra 'Ohana dinner instead. We (3/4 of our party) are not adventurous eaters and the menu just didn't make us want to go there now. We've had many lunches and breakfasts there, as well as a couple of dinners. We liked it, but we're ok not having dinner there again. We have a lunch and a PPO breakfast booked at BOG, so we will still get into the castle. We love the lunch there especially.
Glad you got the ADR you wanted:-)

Same here - I had TP reservation finder set up for our party of 7 for August 5-10 and was anxious to find one, but with the change of menu and 3 in the party of 7 who can be picky eaters, no way I'm paying all that money for food that may not be eaten. And there are open reservations for party of 7 for every night we are there so I guess I'm not the only one who would rather go somewhere else than pay the higher price.

Yep, snails and octopus are not things that my party will eat. At least there are so many places at Disney that we do like... an extra meal at 'Ohana is ok with us. I guess I'm just surprised at the new menu. Some people will like it, but not us. I'm glad we still like breakfast and lunch there. The pressure of finding a dinner at BOG is over.

Some excellent choices there I'd say! We absolutely love 'Ohana, one of our favorite meals on property. 1900 Park Fare breakfast is good, interaction with the Mad Hatter has been amazing every time we've gone!
