Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER RESORT Information & Questions

I was just able to switch our three night stay at a royal riverside room on bounceback to garden view pofq rack rate. Cost an extra $60, but so happy to have gotten in! We just liked pofq so much better. Yay for more availability today!

Did you have free dining bounceback? We have free dining bounceback with sports booked. I wonder if I can change it to rack rate at POFQ but keep free dining?

If you change resorts you loose B.B. offer? It’s been a few years since I’ve used a B.B. offer but last time I did change and didn’t loose offer. I guess rules change.

Yay! My brother-in-law will be with us for a couple of days, and he needs a scooter. This will be very helpful for Resort-hopping as I am not super confident in his ability to get on and off of busses!

If your BIL can walk on and off the bus, another member of his party can ride the ECV on/off the bus for him if needed. A great way to "practice" this skill is to take the buses to and from Disney Springs during the day; they are typically fairly empty, and if you let the drivers know that you are a scooter newbie, they will help you learn how to best maneuver the scooter onto and off of the bus.

The ramp is the hardest part for most people - and the only trick there is to just center up the scooter, and go s l o w l y . Coming down the the ramp, don't turn until all wheels are on the ground, and you have cleared the edge of the ramp.

Most folks are pretty proficient after a couple of round trips!

The DISabiltiles forum here on the DISBoards has a lot of great info for new/inexperienced scooter drivers.

No, you can keep bouncback status during changes of date and resort as long as your original booking was made on site. However the option you are trying to change to needs to be currently available on the system for new bounceback guests, which I presume was not the case here.

Okay, dumb question since I should know this due to staying here a few times before but... are there elevators in all buildings? I have some back, hip, and leg issues and going up stairs is the hardest part for me so I just need to know what to plan for.

Andre is correct. When I originally booked the bounceback offer there was no availability for POFQ for any month of spring or fall. Can only assume availability will be worse this visit. It seemed that only deluxe resorts pricier rooms were the majority of the openings. Doesn't help that you cannot search the dates yourself but must instead keep asking a cast member to perform searches over the phone on their slow/complex system. I felt bad about asking beyond a few months. Might try again on the next visit, but it was kind of a downer experience to keep hearing there is "no availability" repeatedly while you are still on vacation.

Bank of elevators in middle of buildings. You could request location close to elevators.

Just extended our upcoming March trip by one night, so booked POFQ for that final night. i had initially booked us at Pop for the last night following several days at AKL, but the POFQ slide and splash pad pushed me over the edge to spend a little more and make the switch. I'll be traveling with my DH and 3 yo son. I'm excited to experience this resort since many people are fans. We will be there Mar 7

I’ve done a search and can’t find an answer. What bottles of wine do they sell at the resort? We’ve purchased bottles (full size) at other resorts. Just curious. Idea of the price range would be a bonus!!! Thanks!!

This is very true. My mom needed an ECV during our trip. The first few times on the bus were awkward, but by the end of the trip, she was a pro.

we will be arriving Mar 3. According to the original refurb schedule, it looked like building 3 was supposed to be done between Jan 23 – Feb 25, 2018. Anyone know the status on that? We'll be requesting Bldg. 3 with hopes of getting standard view connecting rooms (and to be close to food court/lobby/transportation) due to my recent surgery and mobility limitations. Keeping fingers crossed!

Anyone knows if there's dairy in the beignets?

I am not sure if they are naturally dairy free. But I know they have allergy beignets which I believe are gluten free, dairy free and egg free. They cook them in a dedicated fryer in the back. Just ask to speak with a chef and they can confirm it and make them for you. It does take a bit longer.

They are running behind. The ground floor of building 2 is still closed, and building 3 has only just started refurbishment work in the last day or two so will probably be closed for another month or so.

Thanks Andre! Not what I wanted to hear, but apreciate the info! Probably not the room request to make if we want to come back for resting in the afternoons.
