Where are we, Jersey? Bye, Phoenicians! An August 2017 TR * NEW DINING/TR LINKS*

I commented to someone above (I think Su-Lynn), coming up with TR and dining report names is serious business! The first few reports I did, I almost lost sleep trying to come up with a title people wouldn't just skip over. Lucky for me an entertaining CM pretty much gave me the first part of this title  But we'll get to that!
It really IS serious business! I thought I was just so smart with my one from a couple years ago - PeopleMover is my kind of thrill ride, but I probably lost a bunch of potential readers because they thought I was super boring :rotfl:

Oooh, looking forward to that story!

I'm so good with the cliffhangers :rotfl2:

Happy Friday! Just under 24 hours until my stepson gets married :goodvibes Even though it's not my kind of wedding-my kind of wedding being girly and frilly and princess-y-I'm looking forward to it and I'm just happy that Jay is happy. I'm also super happy that it's supposed to be 75 degrees in NY on Oct. 21st and no rain since the ceremony is outside in an apple orchard!
Tomorrow is also 3 weeks until Steve and I are back in WDW for our quickie F&W trip, our first time at the festival since 2007! Eventually I'll post our plans but I'm really excited that we'll be meeting up with @Jenny Sanders and @buzzrelly for the first time, hopefully @chunkymonkey and her DH again, maybe @ashw100 (I need to go back and read your PTR but I'm thinking we're there the same time??) and we're going to be spending (drinking) lots of time with @kastoney and her awesome family!!!! So definitely more on that soon but now it's time for a little advice:

Heavy Balls Can Really Do Some Damage......
We finished up in WS and, as sad as I was to not have more time to hang there, we moved on toward the IG to our next destination. Since our boys have been to WDW so often we usually try to do new stuff each time now: new restaurants, new resorts, new experiences. Luckily Pandora was helping out in this area as did staying at YC and WL since they'd never been to either, but on our last 2 or 3 trips they'd requested bowling at Splitsville and for one reason or another we'd never made it there. This time I was determined we would. Normally I hate doing non-park/non-Disney stuff since we're IN DISNEY, but getting out of the heat mid-day this time around was a good thing anyway so I wasn't minding it as much.

We got to the IG and boated over to the BW to catch a bus to Disney Springs. We got there at 2:37 and by 2:45, we were doing this!

Here are some shots from around Splitsville:

I loved this mural:

And my boo bowling:

IMG_6877.JPG

Everyone was kicking my butt because I suck at bowling, but we were having lots of fun. And even though I was losing I had the coolest socks there-I completely forgot when I got dressed that morning and put on flip-flops that I'd need socks for bowling, so I got to buy $10 Splitsville socks:

IMG_6884.JPG
Stop the jealousy guys! I still have them and I'm willing to sell them. Let's say......$25 plus shipping ;) Now I'll wait for the offers to start "rolling" in..........
Like I said, we were having a blast! It's pretty cool inside and it was empty, there were 2 other lanes being used and when one left another family came in. A few tables downstairs were taken also with people just eating. Speaking of eating, yes we did! I'll save the details for my dining report but I would definitely return here not only to bowl, but just to eat, too.

Loved this sign hanging by or lane:

My other two boos:

IMG_6876.JPG

Don't let him fool you, he's having a great time but UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES can a 15 year old look that way in pictures!!

And finally, our balls:

IMG_6883.JPG

How freakin' adorable are these??? I'm assuming at the other Splitsville locations the balls are plain. I prefer my balls decorated. I guess I'll take Disney anywhere I can get it :P You all knew there had to be a ball joke or two in here, right? You understand it had to be done?

CONTINUED IN NEXT POST

It’s great that the weather will be unseasonably warm for the wedding. I hope everyone has a great time. And happy birthday to your son.

Yep. Those are socks. I bet Splitsville sells a lot of them, especially in the summer.

:)

CONTINUED FROM LAST POST

We bowled 2 games in an hour which is the length you pay for and had 6 minutes to play a 3rd; it's not cheap so we weren't feeling paying for another hour. Them balls is heavy too and my hands were tired!! We had plans for the evening anyway and wanted to chill a bit at the resort first. So, our visit to Disney Springs consisted of simply walking from the bus to Splitsville and back to the bus, but we totally enjoyed our time there and I'm sure we'll be back again!

IMG_6889.JPG

We were back to WL by 4:40 and didn't have to leave for our evening out until about 7, so the boys chilled while Steve and I looked around in the gift shop. I was in the market for a new Dooney and Bourke; I'd seen one in the parks I kind of liked, but Steve had noticed one in the resort gift shop he thought I'd like better that we hadn't seen anywhere else. I hadn't noticed it so he wanted to show me. Did I get it? Not today...........
Oh, when we first returned from DS we found these on our dresser in an envelope:

IMG_6890.JPG

Aren't these adorable? First I thought it was a club level thing but they were actually a DVC "gift". The offer has to do with taking a DVC tour which we didn't do, but we did appreciate the complimentary Disney artwork postcards!

We hadn't really eaten lightly at Splitsville but by about 6 the boys were hungry again. Finally, CL dinner!!! Here are just a couple of the pictures I took of the offerings:

So pretty!
IMG_6891.JPG

IMG_6893.JPG

Ricky and Steve had the shrimp and liked it, it was a big shrimp in there! But yeah one shrimp so Steve ate like 5 lol. Steve also tried the lemon chicken and said it was good.

IMG_6894.JPG

Nobody was a fan of the samosas but that just had to do with the actual food item itself, not how they were prepared there.
After everyone ate enough to tide them over we got ready to go out and were able to take the boat to our final destination of the evening-

Congratulations!!!!!! How awesome. Hope you guys have a great time. Remind me to tell you about my kind of wedding, aka the exact opposite of yours, next month! I'll give you a clue: Elvis!

Tomorrow is also 3 weeks until Steve and I are back in WDW for our quickie F&W trip, our first time at the festival since 2007!
Ok please tell me you are math challenged and its only 2 weeks cause I needs a break and don't think I have another 3 weeks in me.

e're going to be spending (drinking) lots of time with @kastoney and her awesome family!!!!
WOOHOO!!! I think I'm more excited to hang with you guys than the trip as a whole :drinking1

Heavy Balls Can Really Do Some Damage......
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Everyone was kicking my butt because I suck at bowling, but we were having lots of fun.
Fun is all that matters! This is coming from the person who quite literally bowled a 7 one time.

Stop the jealousy guys! I still have them and I'm willing to sell them. Let's say......$25 plus shipping ;) Now I'll wait for the offers to start "rolling" in..........
Red rover, red rover, send those sexy socks right over :-)

This is awesome!

These are as perfect a decorate ball as I have ever seen. Did you make a ball joke? Guess I just balled right through them :P

img_6893-jpg.278337

Ricky and Steve had the shrimp and liked it, it was a big shrimp in there! But yeah one shrimp so Steve ate like 5 lol. Steve also tried the lemon chicken and said it was good.
These look and sound great, but weird the portions are so small. I would have eaten 10

UP NEXT: A PIRATE'S LIFE FOR ME!
Is this foreshadowing you decided to stay at CBR with me pirate:

It's going to be a beautiful day for a wedding! Have fun!

Tomorrow is also 3 weeks until Steve and I are back in WDW for our quickie F&W trip, our first time at the festival since 2007! Eventually I'll post our plans but I'm really excited that we'll be meeting up with @Jenny Sanders and @buzzrelly for the first time,

So…we leave a week from today and are staying just over a week…check your calendar again. I'm hoping you are going sooner than you think :P

I loved this mural:

I love that…it'd be the only thing that gets me bowling in WDW. And PS-do NOT tell Mike there is a bowling alley there or I will be dragged there!

I got to buy $10 Splitsville socks:

Those are cute!

Don't let him fool you, he's having a great time but UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES can a 15 year old look that way in pictures!!

These boys :sad2:

And finally, our balls:
OMG!

I'm not a fan of undecorated balls, either :D

Oh, when we first returned from DS we found these on our dresser in an envelope:

Aw, nice! That doesn't make you want to spend thousands of dollars to become a DVC member?!

Ricky and Steve had the shrimp and liked it, it was a big shrimp in there!

Oh my, Mike could clear that tray if he were there o_O

Just under 24 hours until my stepson gets married :goodvibes
Yay! And yes, what a perfect day we have here in New York for a wedding :goodvibes Can't wait to hear about it!

Yes, I have noticed this... :rolleyes1

I would have been disappointed had there not been!

Red rover, red rover, send those sexy socks right over :-)

Ah...foreshadowing....

Finally, CL dinner!!!
Looks yummy!

the ceremony is outside in an apple orchard!

Oh I love that! I'm sure the wedding was beautiful!

Heavy Balls Can Really Do Some Damage......

Oh dear...

Normally I hate doing non-park/non-Disney stuff since we're IN DISNEY, but getting out of the heat mid-day this time around was a good thing anyway so I wasn't minding it as much.

Amen! August is brutal! Indoors = good!

Everyone was kicking my butt because I suck at bowling

Oh my gosh, me too! I'm a terrible bowler.

I'll save the details for my dining report but I would definitely return here not only to bowl, but just to eat, too.

we totally enjoyed our time there and I'm sure we'll be back again!

So you'd recommend then? I keep thinking about going, but it never works out.

t’s great that the weather will be unseasonably warm for the wedding. I hope everyone has a great time. And happy birthday to your son.
Thank you, we did! I'll share some pictures in my next update :)

Yep. Those are socks. I bet Splitsville sells a lot of them, especially in the summer.
LOL I'm sure they do. And that's why they don't charge 2.99 a pair!

Cannot wait to meet you!!!! Hopefully, we can have a cocktail together before our dinner ressies...
That's my plan for sure :drinking1

Hope you guys have a great time. Remind me to tell you about my kind of wedding, aka the exact opposite of yours, next month! I'll give you a clue: Elvis!
OMG :scared1: If you show me pictures of your wedding with an Elvis impersonator marrying you, I'm going to........well, I guess not be surprised

Ok please tell me you are math challenged and its only 2 weeks cause I needs a break and don't think I have another 3 weeks in me.
I am most definitely math challenged and I'm not afraid to admit it :thumbsup2 LOL, seriously though, Ricky's surgery is 3 weeks from when I posted that and as excited as I am for Disney, his surgery is always on my mind so I just wrote 3 weeks instead of 2. Now worries, you're leaving in LESS than 2 weeks!

WOOHOO!!! I think I'm more excited to hang with you guys than the trip as a whole :drinking1
That's why I was so extremely excited those dates worked for my mom to watch the boys :banana:

This is coming from the person who quite literally bowled a 7 one time.
Ooh, someone I can beat! I make double digits but sit around 30 :rotfl2:

Red rover, red rover, send those sexy socks right over :-)
I'm going to wear them each day we're together next month

These look and sound great, but weird the portions are so small. I would have eaten 10
I think because the lounge food isn't supposed to serve as a MEAL, but plenty of people were eating like 10 jars so regardless of what the lounge is supposed to be, people most definitely use it for meals.

We have enjoyed the Splitsville bowling and food also. Looks like a fun afternoon
It was a great afternoon!

So…we leave a week from today and are staying just over a week…check your calendar again. I'm hoping you are going sooner than you think :P
Yes, I know I failed in math skills here, thanks to you and Kari for pointing that out :P It was TWO weeks from Saturday, which is much better! I just have Ricky's surgery on my mind also which was 3 weeks from last Friday, and no matter how excited I get about Disney unfortunately that's always on my mind :(

I love that…it'd be the only thing that gets me bowling in WDW. And PS-do NOT tell Mike there is a bowling alley there or I will be dragged there!
LOL ok, I promise I won't!

These boys :sad2:
Exactly  At least you have a daughter to break up the nonsense (or just change the nonsense maybe!)

Aw, nice! That doesn't make you want to spend thousands of dollars to become a DVC member?!
 If it means free postcards a couple times a year, sure!

Oh my, Mike could clear that tray if he were there o_O
Oh so could Steve, and I think it nobody else were around he would have.

Yay! And yes, what a perfect day we have here in New York for a wedding :goodvibes Can't wait to hear about it!
Truly we couldn't have asked for better weather! And sadly I only took a few pictures but I'll post some when I do my next update :)
Congrats to him and his bride!
:thanks:

Ah...foreshadowing....
GOOD foreshadowing :thumbsup2

So you'd recommend then? I keep thinking about going, but it never works out.
a
I do recommend if you want something different to do and don't mind something outside the parks. It's not Disney but as you see in the pictures there are Disney touches, and since you pay for an hour it really won't take up much time (minus travel) We were done bowling before we finished eating and they don't kick you out of the lane even though you physically can't bowl anymore, although not sure if it's crowded if they'd ask you to move to a table. But if you do want something outside the parks (like my boys, not necessarily me!) definitely try it. I'd go back!

One shrimp per cup - yeah, I would have had five of those, too. ;)
Ha ha I know, they definitely don't make it so you can use the CL service for full meals! Although people were.....some had VERY full plates and some would fill them up 3 or 4x. The CM's didn't seem to bat an eye so that probably occurs all the time, just depends on the person and how you feel using the lounge like that knowing it's not meant to be that way. But hey, everyone's paying for it!

:thumbsup2 I will pm you my number!

I haven't heard of this before, those are cool though and bonus you didn't have to take the tour
After we got home I remembered getting a colored print, 8x10 size, a few years ago when we stayed at BWV. I still have it, I can't remember for sure if it said call to take a tour but I do know it said something like "compliments of DVC" so it most likely did give us the option to tour. We actually own a timeshare in Va. Beach and have done tours with other timeshare companies  Not that I'm against the extra FP's or gift card or whatever they'd give us if we took it, those tours are just such a time suck!

LOL I'm sure they do. And that's why they don't charge 2.99 a pair!
And here I was thinking it was just normal Disney prices. Silly me.

Still praying for y'all!

Ooh, someone I can beat! I make double digits but sit around 30 :rotfl2:
I won't tell you what my average used to be.
BTW: I have 3 16lb balls, and yes they do some damage.

I think because the lounge food isn't supposed to serve as a MEAL, but plenty of people were eating like 10 jars so regardless of what the lounge is supposed to be, people most definitely use it for meals.
No different than anywhere else...if we have any free food at work, it's amazing how people pile it on and/or make to go boxes. Put something in the break room and it's like sharks with a feeding frenzy. Say free food and it seems as if people haven't eaten for months. :rotfl2:

The WL CL food looks so much better than mine from Poly!!

We got those little postcards last week, too. I loved them!! You posting about them reminded me that I need to take them out of my carry on backpack. Xavier is getting the Stitch one and L is getting the C&D. I let my mom have the Mickey and gang...even though I wanted to keep it for myself. I'm so giving, LOL!!

I didn't pull quotes, but now I want a gray goose slushie and Chris's face on SE cracked me up!!

Still praying for y'all!
Thank you  16 days to go............

BTW: I have 3 16lb balls, and yes they do some damage.
 You definitely have the right to brag then!

if we have any free food at work, it's amazing how people pile it on and/or make to go boxes. Put something in the break room and it's like sharks with a feeding frenzy. Say free food and it seems as if people haven't eaten for months.
lol, it's the same when the PTA does something for the teachers (and I love all the teachers). Give them a breakfast or lunch for some occasion, or during Teacher Appreciation week in May when we do both of those and a cookie day, holy CRAP does that food move!!! They come in with Tupperware :rotfl2:

The WL CL food looks so much better than mine from Poly!!
I have to get back over and see if you posted pics, but I did go and read your review on the Poly thread - you should post on the CL thread, too! I'm sorry it wasn't better but hey, nice that you got to experience CL there. We did have fantastic CM's who were very helpful, not only to us but other guests we observed being assisted. And all the food was good!
