Hi All,

We are first timers to Disneyland from the UK, we've been to WDW Florida many times over the past 10 years so we are very very excited about our first time in California....We are staying onsite at Paradise Pier ...

Can you obtain FP's during Magic Mornings & Extra Magic Hours in the parks? Secondly what are the disconnected FP's that are still available?

Thanks...

MM and EMH, yes, you can get FP now during this time frame.

No disconnected rides now. (Fantasmic! and WOC shows are disconnected.)

Many thanks... Any tips you can give to a first timer ? We are pretty savvy with all the planning you need for WDW but any help would be great...

You can book FP but your return times will be after official park opening. At least that was our experience this past week.

I'm not sure about DCA as we didn't stay onsite but in DL I believe Fantasyland and Tomorrowland are open. I think Adventureland and Frontierland remain closed until rope drop. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong!

That is correct. So technically all of the rides in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland will be open. HOWEVER, it is not uncommon for some rides to still be going through the opening procedures and not fully running yet. For example, the recent morning I did, people got in line for Peter Pan but first person couldn't get on until 20 minutes after the start. During that time Space Mountain also wasn't running.

I don't believe Casey Jr., SLCB, and Small World are open for EMH. You can get FP for Space and Matterhorn during EMH, I believe, but I can't remember for sure. Get there 30 minutes before EMH and head straight to Peter Pan. I'm usually one of the first 20 people on it, and then I have the rest of my EMH to enjoy other rides. Other than shows, that's the longest wait time you should have all day if you use the app, FP, and get the low capacity rides out of the way before 11 am. Other than headliner shows (Fantasmic, WOC, Fireworks, Frozen), there is no reason to ever stand in a line for an hour at DL. :)

Excellent... Peter Pan always a big favourite even at WDW isn't it.. I was hoping to experience about 30 min waits at DL & DCA. Like you say with using the app and FP @ being savvy should be manageable hopefully!!
What is the free WIFI like in the parks ?

The wifi is terrible.

The wifi is awful. I ended up just using my data because I either couldn't connect or it would keep kicking out while I was trying to use the app.

We had the same thing happen to us ... was this Friday morning? Peter Pan was down for the first 20 minutes of park opening and by the time we were on it was 30 minutes. Luckily for some reason most of the other dark rides in FL were walk-ons, so we still ended up getting a lot done during MM. The other 2 days we started out in FL, PP opened on time and we were on and off within 10 minutes.

Nope-this was back in April/May! Sounds like a not-uncommon occurrance!

And that morning I did end up just waiting for PP, I was maybe 30 people back? Also did Alice, grabbed FP for Space, Buzz, and Nemo.

From your experiences if we do rope drop @DL & DCA on MM & EMH, what we would be best hitting first and then best trying to get FP's for? We normally stay in the Parks till about 4pm and then return again on the evening as well..? Also we have the benefit of the EEMH after park closing for riding GOTG.. Thank You..

For DCA, rope drop is most critical for GotG and RSR. Each are worth riding multiple times, so I would consider going direct to GotG. Then get a FP for RSR, though you would probably be able to walk-on RSR. Are you getting MaxPass? If so, you can book a FP for one as you are walking to the other-definitely worth it in my view! Racers should be ridden at least once during day and once at night! Guardians has 6 different songs/ride sequences, so hopefully you will be able to get a couple different ones (though I have been on it 12 times, including 10 on the premiere night party, and am still missing 1 song). Right now there have been really long waits for Soarin and limited FPs because one of the screens is out, so its at half capacity, so that'd be a good idea for another earlier FP.

For DL, I would still probably do Peter Pan even with possible delays. The line will get to 45 minutes quickly and stay that way all day (except for during fireworks when it is shut down), and the line is mostly outside in the sun, so can get hot. Based on your signature, you are visiting this month, so Space will be down then anyways.

And I mentioned it, but consider MaxPass. Yes, it costs money, but it makes it so much more convenient than having to run around the park to pull FPs from different rides.

Some things you have to consider, Disneyland rides require less planning that WDW. It may be best to have a general idea and then go with the flow based on when FPs are available and what wait times are looking like. In August you have the competing factors of APs being unblocked, but also school starting, so maybe expect more crowds in later afternoon/evenings with much lower ones in morning. And DL/DCA are so close together, it makes it easy to just hop back and forth as the need arises.

Good luck and have fun!

Its such a bummer the wifi is awful! It means we probably can't use maxpass at all. I cannot get data at a reasonable price from NZ.

Same issue for me will have to pay to use my UK data allowance and then pay again for max pass, think we shall just stick to a plan and hope for the best...
