Refillable mug at the Fort

Wondering if buying one refillable mug is worth it for our family. 10 nights at the fort. Where can you fill it? Is there somewhere near the pool? We've had the dining plan in the past, but always on trips with little down time at the resort. Hubby drinks some pop, kids love lemonade and sweet tea but it's a huge treat for them, and everyone likes hot chocolate. Lots of pool time and down time planned, but don't want to get a mug if it's a pain to go get it filled somewhere.

You can fill it at the meadows, by the pool I believe, and at Trails End. If you have a lot of downtime at the Fort planned, it might be worth it. For us, we only got it with the dining plan, we will not get them this year, for us just not worth it.

We have gotten the refill mugs for our last 3 trips to the Fort. For us ( family of 3 ) we think they are worth it. You can fill them at the pool snack bar, and at Trails End.
If you are a coffee drinker, you can refill them at the Meadows, I believe I have seen a coffee station there, not 100% sure. TE also has coffee and soda, and lemonade out of the soda machine. It is not a 24 hr. use, when the pool and TE closes then there is no place to get a drink at the Fort until they reopen in the morning.

You can also use your mugs at the other resorts, if you go resort hopping, they will not work at the parks.

The Meadow Trading post has coffee, hot tea and hot chocolate. Trail's End has the hot drinks + soda products + sweet tea. You have to ask the attendant for the tea.

We got them free our first trip ( free dining in the cabins) and have purchased them both of our other 2 trips. We love them! I have 3 pop drinkers, and my daughter and I live for the lemonade - our one son that only drinks milk or water we buy a special cup at Walmart before our trip just so he doesn't feel left out.
The best thing is after our trip we continue to use them at home! That way Disney feels just a little bit closer during those loooooooong months between vacations

Great, thanks everyone. Can we just bring one of our old ones along and have it reactivated? I think we have 8 of them in a cupboard at home!

I asked about reactivating, and was told they couldn't do it, had to keep buying new every trip. FYI, if your there longer than 14 days and want to use them, you have to buy new ones.

If you stay longer than the 14 days they can renew them. We stay much longer and when we get close to the 14th, they just reprogram them.

When you say reprogram, do you mean you pay, or they just add on to it?

If they can reprogram for a longer stay, then why not reactivate if you bring your used one back? Even if they charge you have the price of a new cup I would be willing to do that.

I still have my "lifetime" mug from my stay at Port Orleans many years ago.

I am sure they CAN reactivate them but they probably don't want to deal with it. It's probably just easier to try and sell a new one.

Also, it's not a "Re-program" as much as it is a "Database Update". The mugs are RFID which is essentially an "Electronic Serial Number". Every time you scan it, it checks the database to see if it's valid. I suspect "Older" mugs may have an RFID number that might not be in their system or might be "Legacy" (yes, things change that much) and thus if they tried to re-activate an old one, it could end up being more problematic then just selling a new one. The price is the same either way though. Re-activating a newer one (for the LONG stay beyond 14 days) would probably not have the same issues as re-activating one that might be several years old.

We found the refillable mugs difficult. The resort is just big, it was so far to go to fill it, especially in the July heat. We had a car so it was so much easier to buy bottles of soft drink and keep it in the fridge. But then we were there to see the parks as well. Any time in the resort we just spent relaxing.
