Where to stay for disneymoon?

Hi everyone! I'm new to the dis. I'm here because I just bought the plane tickets for my honeymoon in June. FH and I are going to be at WDW for ten days and I am SOOO excited! We will be staying at Fairfield Bonnet Creek the first seven nights, but I am hoping to stay at a Disney resort the last three. Can anyone give me advice about where we should stay? Our budget is pretty tight so we probably can't stay at a Deluxe (unless we magically come across a large sum of money in the next few months), but where do you recommend for a young couple on their honeymoon?

Also, has anyone stayed at Bonnet Creek? I'd love to get some reviews about that resort.

Thanks!

On our last trip, DW and I visited POR for a future trip and thought it was very nice. We didn't get to go to the resort that I have wanted to stay at for a long time which is Coronado Springs. I think either one of those would be a great choice for a honeymoon. Hope that helps some.

Headed to Disneyland!! :cheer2:

Disneymoon0606, welcome to the Dis! And congrats on your upcoming wedding.

Where would I stay if I were you? At the one place that my heart most desired. I'd find a way to fit it into my budget.

The way I look at it is this... You only honeymoon once. (Or if you're me, you never got that dang honeymoon the first time around and thus had to make up for it on your 20th wedding anniversary last October. Where did I stay? The Grand Floridian. ;) )

By the way, to view Disney's official video clips of the WDW resorts, go to the following webpage: click here. Once you're there, you can select videos for each of the resorts. Have fun!

And since you're new around here, please check out the WDW Resorts' FAQ threads that are found here on the Dis website: click here. You'll find lots of valuable information in each of the threads.

Have fun planning!

If you don't think a deluxe is in your budget go with POR and request a mansion--the most romantic area in the moderate range (IMHO). I like POFQ, also, just look at pictures and that will help you decide which type of decor would best fit your tastes.

One more thing; there is a board here on the Dis that is devoted to Disney weddings & honeymoons: click here. The folks on that board are very helpful.

If you want to find out about the Bonnet Creek resort post on the Orlando hotels thread. They will be able to give you great information. You might also want to do a search for information on that resort here on the DIS.

Welcome.

Hi there!

My DH and I spent our honeymoon at the Wilderness Lodge. Although it is a deluxe and you are traveling at a peak time, sometimes you can get great deals at the WL. Will you be purchasing annual passes (could be cheaper than MYW for your length of stay...). If so, we have gotten the Lodge as cheap as $109 per night. Not bad!

Have a wonderful time!

Thanks for all the helpful info everyone. It would be so amazing if we could spend the three nights in a deluxe! Even my mom keeps telling me "You only go on your honeymoon onece!" So we'll see what happens. I guess if I start saving now then it shouldn't be too hard.

DW & I stayed at the Poly for our honeymoon last year and had the most unbelievable time. We said the same thing, "We only have our honeymoon once so lets go all out." About the money thing, we suprisingly got a lot of money as gifts. It paid for a lot of our trip. If no deluxe, go to POR, get a mansion, and take a horse carrriage ride.

Hi! Congrats on your upcoming wedding. My DH and I will be celebrating our 1 yr anniversary next month. On our honeymoon we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge which was spectatular. Let me just start by telling you we are not "outdoorsy" kind of people...we don't go hiking or camping...alot of people assume that thats the kind of people who stay in this resort. But it is quite the opposite. It is by far (to me) the most beautiful resort of them all. I know the Grand Floridian is beautiful as well but I always thought it was a little too fancy. The WL has amazing restaurants, a great store, a GREAT pool and a feeling of seclution. It is fun to take the boat to the MK for the day and the grounds are just gorgeous! Ask DVC members how many points it would cost for that week and sometimes you can rent the points from them for a discounted price...cheaper then what you would have paid. I am a DVC member but am not able to look those up for you right now. Its worth a try though! Good luck! :bride:

We Disneymooned at the Poly in 1995. Had a LV with a fabulous view of the Castle. It was so romantic and wonderful. We loved the Poly and have great memories of our Disneymoon. :cloud9:

Fast forward to today: now, we're going back in Nov/Dec to celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary and taking our triplets for their first trip to the World. We're staying at the GF since it's so beautiful during the holidays. You never know what life has in store for you! ;)

Congratulations!!! :bride: :groom:

My husband and I stayed at CBR on our honeymoon. We really loved it. However, on our next trip we stayed at POR in the mansions and loved that even more.

You should ask yourself how much time do you really expect to be doing things in the resort itself. On our honeymoon we were hardly at the resort and I don't think we ever even opened our curtains when we were actually in the room. :rolleyes1

I believe you really can't go too wrong wherever you may choose for your honeymoon in WDW. Have a great time and congratulations.

We stayed at the WL on our honeymoon and loved it! It was very relaxing, romantic, and wonderful! Like some others have said, if you can get a discount, it's not as expensive as some of the other deluxe resorts. It is so worth it! Which ever resort you choose, I'm sure you'll have a great time on your honeymoon!

I second the Wilderness Lodge. My absolute favorite. 27 more days until I'm there for MY disneymoon....yeahhhh

I think for your honeymoon one of the best resort to stay at would be The Grand Floridian! It has its how chapal((youll even have the wedding feel still!!)and a magnificent few of the Magic Kingdom!
Or The Yacht/ Beach Club resort. It just all depends on what mood//theme you want to stay in, if its more of a western, cornado springs and fort wilderness lodge might be the case. Disney Resorts are highly themed! So really its what sort of mood you are in! GOOD LUCK AND CONGRATS!

My husband and I stayed at Port Orleans Riverside this past december for our Disneymoon. It was really nice for being a moderate resort and did not cost an arm and a leg. I stayed at the Carribean resort and that was also a nice moderate one. Good Luck on your planning and Congratulations!

Congratulations!!!
August, 1996 we spent a 2 week honeymoon at the GF!! 3 kids and almost 11 years later, it is still ranked as our favorite vacation and favorite place to stay. We are going back in October to celebrate my son's 5th bday. GF is the most romantic place. We still talk about that vacation and how beautiful it was at night as you return from the parks to stroll along the pier, or have a drink in the grand lobby after a long day. A swing band plays music in the upper level of the lobby every night. If your budget can swing it, I guarantee you will not forget the experience.
Best of Luck!

We stayed at CBR for our honeymoon last October. It was a beautiful resort and would stay there again.:beach: I would have loved to stay at the Polynesian, but it just wasn't in our budget at the time. That is why we are going this December to stay at the Poly. It's a second honeymoon, first anniversary present from dear hubby. And he wonders why I love him so much!:rotfl2:
