I was one of the few who thought same around these boards but I am still a bit stunned to be honest. So glad I didn’t buy direct for the benefit of “staying at future resorts”. My 2019 resale points are getting me into 2 of the newest DVC builds thus far. I’d be seriously irked if I was a RIV owner.

What is their strategy here?!
I'm convinced the company obviously has no strategy, no long term thinking, and seems to be throwing **** at the wall to see what sticks. I put this down to too much bureaucracy in the company but this announcement, in my view, makes any restrictions on any resorts untenable and obsolete.

Several people posted they would only buy tower if it was new. With today's announcement and RIV's good promotion, might sales boom for RIV?
 
Time to add on to my poly contract!
Me too! We ALMOST added on to our resale Poly contract when GFV 2.0 went on sale because we thought it would be our last chance at direct points with no resale restrictions. But ultimately our heart is at Poly so we didn’t go through with it. And so glad we waited !!
 
So curious now if Cabins at FW have resale restrictions. Maybe they're worried the properties aren't selling as well as they hoped.
Those will since its a new resort and not being added to an existing one.

New tower is consistent with BPK being added to VGF. (Yea yea apples and oranges new build vs refurb, but still same end result)

I don’t necessarily know this will push people to RIV at all. I have been holding off adding more points because I really want to own at poly tower. I was thinking about adding on at RIV with the new incentives with the assumption the new tower will be a new association and I could still have access with direct RIV points. Instead, I will just forego direct completely and buy poly resale… I am still going to hold off as I don’t think this announcement made anything official.
 
I am very surprised.
Being the same association is actually better for me. I will try to occasionally book a 1 bedroom here using SAP and it will also make 1 bedroom BLT reservations easier.

More options for my SAP is good.
