Any plans for the holiday weekend?

Like I said in the Labor Day thread, some of us retired folks make a point of staying home on holidays. So nothing in our household.

Do you have any plans and if so, what?

It has to be a mess for some families. It is not a State Holiday here in California, so schools will be in session, but banks are closed, Federal offices closed, no mail delivery, etc.

I don't want to get into the politics of Columbus but it is still a Federal Holiday as Columbus Day and a State holiday in 16 states. It is a State holiday in 4 other states under other names such as Indigenous Peoples' Day.

It is no longer a holiday for Court workers. We had Native American Day a few weeks ago instead.

Not a holiday for me or DS. Same old same old. Never been a holiday that impacted us, nor is it celebrated around here.

It is a state holiday here but not all public schools have off. Some districts use it to complete their fall break, DS#2 has Monday off, Teacher Workdays for Tues & Wed, so kids get a fall break.

Neighboring county had their fall break a week ago so they are going to school Monday.

Regular weekend for me. Took today off to go out of state for a relatives high school band and football game. Returning home Sunday. Working Mon to Wed.

Need to burn some vacation days, so flying out Thursday to Sunday for a family wedding.

Regular work day for me. I teach preschool/childcare and our district schools are open too. As for what I'm doing this weekend... no major plans. I begin a week of petsitting on Sunday.

We do not get the bank holidays off so no long weekend for us. Another weekend of rain so we canceled our plans for today.

I have plans for Monday to go apple picking with my cousin and her two little ones. 🍎😊

DH has off work, DS doesn't.

As controversial as the name is, a fall long weekend is a big money-maker around here, so I think it will stay and just continue to slowly shift in what it "celebrates".

Monday is a regular work day for me.

Saturday is supposed to be rainy, the third such Saturday in a row, but Sunday should be clear. We might go to an Italian festival.

We toyed with the idea of flying to Atlanta to watch the Phillies-Braves playoff game, but decided against it.

i was happy to learn that the automotive repair shop my oldest's car was towed to wednesday IS OPEN monday so they can get the repair completed while oldest works from his home b/c his employer's brick and mortar locations close for the holiday (win/win/win for him-double pay, no commute to work, working in his comfies while his car is repaired). as for us-fall hit us with a fury and winter is not far behind (we've already had some below freezing temps❄️, i would'nt be surprised to see snow by halloween) so we will work on finishing up winterizing-tarp a few items, put away the bird feeders/summer decor, clean up some shrubs to haul off...
