Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE RESORTS Information & Questions

Hi, i have another question....this is my first post covid trip anywhere....can you tell me about housekeeping and what to expect at the Swan in April? Do they still come everyday? Thanks!

At the Swan and non-Disney, housekeeping showed up 1 day during our 3-4 night stay.

We were told we could request it, but I see that doesn't always work out.

The only negative we had was housekeeping. I asked at check-in about cleaning and was told they would come every day. They came the first day and not again. I asked and was told on 2 separate times that they would make sure they came the next day but they never did. I would have been ok if we had known but to expect them each day and then show back up to the room not being cleaned was a disappointment,

Were the towel carts in the hallways? I need my towels :wizard:

Not good, for sure.

Last May we had to ask three separate times over 2 days for towel/trash service before we actually got a visit. Had to practically cause a scene at the desk after 2 faithfully promised visits didn’t happen. Disappointed to hear that 10 months later, they don’t seem to be doing any better.

Our most recent stay was short (at Reserve) and we just opted out entirely, so I don’t know how that would have gone.

This may need its own post as it's not these hotels specifically and may need further discussion...but the new dynamic pricing for point stays is active now. Points went up A LOT. The hope of using the new top off a free night certificate with points is out the window too.

Are these articles pre- or post- Covid?
S/D/(SR) rates are going up, from what I've been observing over the past couple years. My suspicion is they are trying to make up for lost convention revenue. (Or alternately, the conventions allowed them to have lower hotel rates to lure in vacationers.)

I also think one of the keys to S/D/SR is to be eligible for special rates. Those rates are where the savings are.

Might not have the screaming deals of the past, however, still generally going to be significantly cheaper than the least-expensive Disney Deluxe.
Booked our June trip for an AP rate early and kept checking back almost everyday. Landed on a great deal of 220$-320$(2 nights were the higher price) a night.Total after taxes ended up being 2200 for 7 nights. Pofq was about 100$ cheaper so we made the switch to swan reserve for the benefits and walking distance.

As of right now same reservation would be 340$ for everynight. Gotta book early and check constantly imo.

How early can you book an AP rate? I mean, if our trip isn't until December, when do you think that the AP rates would be available to change our resv? It doesn't look like any of the special offers are available right now for our dates.

I started booking a year out. I can't rember if I had to wait till closer. What ever the max was that's when I booked. But I think it was a month later that the rates actually dropped lower and swapped to the reserve vs the dolphin I had booked.

Just checked it looks to be 11 months. I saw AP rate at 10 months tho. (Just did 10 months from now to check)

I’m booked for Marathon Weekend at the Swan in January with the passholder rate.

Does Kimonos tend to have long waits for a table?
You can make reservations for Kimonos 407-934-1609, do be aware they are currently closed Monday & Tuesday. Check the SDR Mobile App as closing and hours could change at any time.

Once again the Boyvoy members have been Bonvoyed by Marriott (yes there is whole website dedicated to being bonvoyed). While this upsets me I'm not upset at SDR, looking at things from a property owners view they get dinged pretty hard since Marriott hasn't paid them even close to the value of their rooms. But makes me very happy I used the last of my points for a few nights on Ohau. For those that don't know what's happening here is a good story explaining everything; Ugh: Marriott Bonvoy Ditches Points Charts

Many years ago we stayed at the Dolphin and used a "teacher" rate. Does anyone know if that still exists? And if so where do I find it on the web site? Thank-you very much! We hope to go over fall break in 2023 but I am excited to start planning!

It doesn't look like the Sunshine Flyer goes to the Swan. Does anyone know if you can ride SF to the YC or do you have to show proof of resort reservation?
