***Official March 2021 Thread***

Please add us to the list: 12-23 at Boardwalk Villas. My mom & sister will be with me. We were supposed to be bringing my two adult cousins from Japan for their first WDW visit, but with covid still making the rounds, they decided against traveling. We scrambled to change the airline reservations (Thank you, United for being so helpful!) & was able to reduce down to a 1 bedroom villa, whew!

I had already ordered our magic bands over the summer & I was surprised they were shipped since our stay was when the "no-free-magic-bands" era. I guess they were letting anyone with resort reservations order them up until Dec 31. Yay!

I also had purchased MYW 7 day base tickets thru my local ITT office for 5 of us, but we're only using 3 tickets. the 2 remaining ones don't have expiration dates, so I'm saving them for a future visit. I just tried to call to extend one of them to 9 days or even asked to add park hopping, but because they show up as "military", I was told I have to see Guest Services in person to find out if I can pay to upgrade them. Kind of a bummer as I'm a planner & I would like to plan our days & know if we will be able to park hop or not. Along with @bamamom, I'm hoping closing times will be extended to make park hopping worth it & not over crowd Hollywood Studios or Epcot as the two that are open "late".

I was happily surprised I was also able to start booking my ADRs earlier than expected! I was on the WDW website just seeing if I could find availabilities for restaurants requested by my group & found I was able to book them already! I was able to get lunch ADRs for everything that we wanted to try/revisit so they're really happy. It was quite different switching gears from planning a First Visit for my cousins into a visit for jaded 6 timers. We cut out all of the dining to see characters & went for food we really enjoyed or new-to-us menus that looked interesting.

We found a great person thru the Instagram/Facebook page Ear for Each Other that does charcuterie platter that look so very yummy! I placed my order late last night, so hopefully we'll hear back from him soon. There are a few former CMs, but his platters looked right up our alley. It's a really great resource & I'm considering ordering some bday cupcakes for my sister since we leave WDW on her bday.

Got you added. I keep hearing people say they could book ADRs a bit early. Hoping I get the same pixie dust.

Is anyone here doing a split stay? We have to move rooms on our second night of our stay, so we have two separate hotel reservations (within the same hotel). Will I be able to book ADRs for my entire trip on the 60-day mark of our first day there? Or will I need to wait until 60 days from our second room reservation?

We are staying Swan March 27-April 4th we are too excited! It will be 15 yo dd first WDW trip. I am just starting to plan 😳 and i need to start walking. Looking forward to learning lots of tips!

I just found out today that the NBA is doing their "thing" again and it's effecting a lot of the resorts starting early FEB into March. I "think" Beach Club and Wilderness are completely closed for reservations. And a lot of players will be staying in the Towers at Coronado as well. I must have missed the conversation on this. We only have a few weeks before the 30 day mark and I am curious what everyone's thoughts are on the situation. We are booked for Coronado from Feb 27th through the first week of march.

Thoughts? Advice? I am not sure how this effects the crowds either... 😕

So I'm just curious, do y'all bring backpack, fannypacks or any other bags into the parks?
I use a string bag because it is easier for me to use than a bulky backpack. We have been to WDW twice since they started using the scanners at bag check and they are great. I've never been stopped for an extra check, even though I've had a stainless steel drink bottle and my cell phone in the bag. I've just walked through the scanner with the bag on my back and my hands empty. :)

We will be there Feb 28th to March 5th and this would affect our trip, too. But I do know that the WL is currently having an extensive resort room remodeling, so they wouldn't be affected by the NBA.

We will be there the same dates at you, but I am staying at Coronado and they are putting the players in the tower. I am just wondering how that will effect the crowds. I know after some debates it "seems" like early March should be better than later in the month. But I didn't notice the NBA situation until now. I can't really move my trip again due to my airfare issue (so I am stuck). But wasn't sure before it was too late if we should change resorts.

Usually, sports teams don't have much effect on the parks. I would only be concerned about the services at the resort they are staying at. You have time to change resorts if you are worried about it. The first week of March is a good time to go to WDW since it is before most schools have spring break. :)

I think if it's two different reservations then you have to do ADRs as two separate reservations but I could be wrong (maybe I am). I've never done a split reservation so I don't know. I also have ready people have been able to make them before their 60 day mark so maybe that would be the case for your split stay.

Got you added to the list. How exciting for your DD's first trip. I love going with people who are experiencing their first trip. I really need to start walking again. It's been a while so I am out of the habit. I need to get back into that ASAP. How long has it been since you've been? If it's been a while, a lot has changed in the past several years.

I have no clue on the impacts that would have but I am over here worried about the cheer stuff that has been changed to mid to late March. My daughter was a cheerleader (from the age of 3 until she graduated high school) so having cheerleaders around doesn't bother me a bit, it's more of the crowds it may cause at Pop and AoA that worries me.

They are still going ahead with that? Ya I went during a pop warner event once and it actually annoyed me. The massive groups of "over stimulated" teens in groups moving around from attraction to attraction and not to mention blocking the pathways was pretty obnoxious. It was like each time we almost got to a ride they mass would beat us and extend the line out 20-30 people. lol

ANYHOW.... I am glad I am going earlier than that. My kids are annoying enough for me.

High School Cheer nationals was and is on the schedule for early Feb, but Varsity has announce that they will be giving new dates for mid to late March around spring break. I am a cheer parent and this is so hard on us. We need to schedule lodging and dining, but have no dates. We cannot make travel plans or even request off work and March is getting close.

I have no idea if they are or not I just know I have been told by several people that they said it was postponed but they didn't know the dates yet. Like I said it wouldn't bother me the cheerleaders being there, it's just the added crowd it may add to the resort that I'm concerned about. But then again, it's spring break so it's probably going to be crowded anyways so I may wouldn't even notice the extras at the resort.

I can only imagine how stressful it is on y'all. As a past cheer momma, I feel for the added stress of the unknowns.

Well it's less about teens being teens really and more about the swarm moving about. I found some walkways completely blocked outside of the ride rushes. I guess though any special event can add to the crowd situation though.

I am doing a split stay - first night at boardwalk followed by 8 nights at poly. Unfortunately you will have two different dining dates.

My daughter did All-Star cheer for 7 years and has opted to stop after last season being cut short. My son cheers for high school and this is his Senior year. We are really hoping to end his season in Disney :) I am just one of the lucky parents with a job that will allow for short notices. Any competitive sport is hard in a normal season, let alone one like we are dealing with. I know it is not in the control of one entity to make the decision. Varsity, UCA, Disney, states, schools, athletes and parents all have to be aligned for any team to be able to participate. One day you can be scheduled for an event and the next it be gone or up in the air, OR...a team member can be quarantined for sitting in class next to a COVID positive student the day before you leave and the whole team misses out because of it. To have to sit at home away from people for a week or two when you are not sick is very hard on athletes that put in hours and hours a day to be able to win at their sport. We are on the edge waiting for these March dates to come out so we can plan and pray that nobody gets quarantined. The unknowns are definitely getting to us cheer parent. :)
