So what are the updates regarding travel to Myrtle Beach? We have a trip planned at the end of the month. I have been trying not to watch the news so I must have missed something.
There’s been a number of articles of outbreaks in places like WV, Kentucky, & Ohio that seem to be traced back to Myrtle. The case counts have been rising like crazy there too, but to be fair they’re rising where I live in Pittsburgh with 4 of the past 5 days each breaking our previous record.

For us, it was just a personal decision. My sister in law is pregnant and they elected not to go. So now we end up in a strange spot; should we pay them their $600 share back? And do we want to go without them? (Answer: Not really).

Distancing at Myrtle seems next to impossible, and would look nothing like the glorious pics of our private beach at Captiva I shared last week. We weren’t planning to visit restaurants or go shopping or do go-karts due to the elevated risk (I mean I’m not doing that stuff at home even). So the things we enjoy most down there were pretty much off the table.

So basically, it was a debate on whether sinking hundreds of more dollars into a mediocre trip (by our standards) was worth it without our travel companions. We chose to sit this one out... and now we got a 100% full refund from Airbnb so I’m even happier about the decision with $1,000 in my pocket (and $700 back to my brother in law) and hundreds more in expense avoided! 😊

I spent $70 on Chewy last week (I've become a hippie dog mom giving my dog all kinds of supplements--good news is her bloodwork showed her liver enzymes are better than they were a year ago but the vet thinks I'm nuts) and this morning there was a $15 Amex offer. I know it appeared today even though I thought I saw other people got it a week or so ago.
No Chewy Amex offer for me. I've got the cat food on Subscribe from Amazon, then I buy a few bags of litter from Chewy every few months. Or, if I have a good deal somewhere else, but it's hard to find the brand we use at a great price.

Uhhh....this is freaky... I have a SW flight booked over Labor Day weekend for Houston - Detroit. I just got an email “confirming our changes” and our new flight r is for Seattle - Ontario, Canada! All our other information is there and it shows up in my RR account. I haven’t touched my SW account in weeks and obviously can’t call at 1:30 am to figure out what is going on. Has anyone dealt with this before?
I have not had this happen but if you are awake, give them a call. I bet someone answers.
Not for nothing, but the Ontario is probably Ontario, California and not Canada as I don’t believe southwest flies to Canada. Also I had that happen to me on a flight between New Orleans and Providence. When they changed it, it showed up in my list as a flight to Baltimore, but if I clicked on it, it showed the final destination still providence and the layover was Baltimore. It threw me off because I was originally flying through DC. Even more annoying was after they made that change it wouldn’t let me make any changes to the flight without calling.
Yep, definitely California. In my sleepy state I panicked and wondered why they were trying to send me to another country, lol.
And my origin city! Not even in the same state....two entire time zones away. So weird!

Updating after my phone call with a very nice SW rep...he looked and saw it was a change made by their re-accommodation department and must have just been a mistake (I'm guessing somebody mis-typed a confirmation number?). He got me re-booked on a flight that actually departed from the city I live in and arrived in the city I wanted to go to :D Now I'm just hoping we get to actually take this flight!

Is there a way to check when my TSA precheck expires? I know I get it w/ my CSR, and I believe IHG cards. I just can't remember when it expires.

Also can minors do TSA precheck? I know when they fly with me, they get it. But my daughter's besties moved to TX. She's on her 2nd trip this year down to see them. Granted there was no wait, but I know she hates taking off her shoes, and I have more than 1 card w/ that offer, LOL.

Minors over the age of 12 have to have their own precheck, 12 and under can go through pre lanes if their parent/guardian has it on their BP. Any age can apply for it.

If you have your number you should be able to put that into the Pre website and see when it expires.

Check the spreadsheet where you meticulously keep track of everything that matters in life 😉 🤣

I was about to place an order on Chewy last night, noticed I could pay by Paypal so thought I'd wait until today. I went ahead and added the DiscoverIt to my PP acct. Today I went in to complete the transaction and paid with Freedom via PP instead of Discover :surfweb: I even have a sticky note right in front of me telling me bonus categories for the quarter.
Just got done checking to make sure PP had my CF as the preferred card when I saw this and realized I needed to set it for Discover not CF. Thanks.
I did wait until today to order a new food processor on Amazon with CF.

I believe masks are now required in Myrtle Beach. Besides that, most stuff here in SC is open, including dining in restaurants, despite the rising case counts.

ETA: Also, the tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT) has put a mandatory 14-day quarantine on anyone coming from our state.

It’s crazy with cases rising so I guess we will see what happens. At this point, we are still planning to go. The mask rule is for indoor places, not on the beach, right?. We just go to the beach every day. We don’t do much shopping and we can do fine with take out. Plus we have a full kitchen in our unit. From what I’ve read, there’s very low risk outside and we always do distancing on the beach.

Disney finally emailed me back after two weeks or so of me sending in an email. They said anyone who bought APs from a third party will be receiving a check refund if they requested one. That makes me really happy since sam’s club wasn’t offering any kind of refund

That makes me not want to have DS21 try for this. He too has CFU and CIP with about the same income. They must really be buckling down on even personal card approvals. Does she still have the CIP? I was thinking of cancelling that first to free up the $5000 credit limit on that one.
She does still have the CIP but the CL is down to $500. She also was approved for a SW last year but it's closed now. This was her second attempt at a CSP. I think she applied about 6 mos ago or so. Not sure why it's so hard to get approved for that card! Seems like a perfect step up from someone who has a CF or CFU. She uses her CFU all the time too. It's her main card (other than Discover categories).

Plastiq fees going up. I've been paying mortgage, car and HOA, but I'm going to have to re-run numbers. I think I may just do HOA unless I have MSR to meet. I think this is still less than my HOA charges for any payment besides auto-draft.

I wanted to personally reach out and explain some new price changes that are coming to Plastiq.

Recently, several major credit card companies announced an upcoming interchange price increase (the cost of processing a credit card), which directly impacts our costs at Plastiq. This third party increase requires our fees to move to 2.85%, effective July 1, 2020 for most transactions.

Plastiq has historically absorbed the cost of all interchange increases, and we have kept our fees flat. However, at this time, an increase is necessary. We remain committed to delivering quality tools and features, and we’re still priced lower than our competitors.

We continue to improve Plastiq and we’re excited about the launch of Plastiq Accept and our new multi-user feature. Keep an eye out for new Plastiq features and products for your business that are on the way.

I know you have choices when it comes to who you do business with. Thanks for choosing Plastiq. If you have more questions, please feel free to reach out.

Thank you! I'm good till 2022! Woooooo! And @SouthFayetteFan it's NOW in my spreadsheet ;)

Snagged the Park Hyatt Kyoto for next May and now I'm off to book three nights at the Hilton Tokyo Bay. Currently they want 80k points a night for a standard king room with an ocean view...seems a bit steep when I saw the same rooms going for around 55k/night not too long ago. We have shifted our itinerary so we now arrive on a Saturday so I guess that has something to do with it? What do y'all think - hold off on booking and hope the price drops some or just go ahead and book now to lock it in? I have no other plans for my Hilton points right now but I'm sure I could come up with something!

I decided to be the brave datapoint I wished to see in the world and figured out a workaround, so I'm now all set. The only thing left to book is our hotel in Tokyo at the beginning of our trip, and I'm going to wait until we have more Hyatt points since there are plenty of options we'd be happy with. I don't know what I'll do with myself after that except obsessively re-work our itineraries

Congrats on the Park Hyatt Kyoto!

I also thought 80k Hilton points for a room at the Hilton Tokyo Bay was steep, especially if you’re not staying the 5 nights to get one free. And much more luxurious Hilton properties run 95k/night. If the pandemic doesn't end up canceling our Tokyo trip, we’re splitting a stay between the Andaz Toranomon Hills and the Tokyo Station Hotel -- both bookable with Hyatt. This way we'll get a taste of ultra modern luxe and classic old world elegance. I figure with the Tokyo Station Hotel part of a major train station, we can easily catch a train to TDR or the NEX to NRT.

I know what you mean about obsessively re-working our itineraries. With the current state of things, I can only hope to be able to take our trips. It's easier these days to cancel a flight or hotel than to plan something perfect at the last minute. So yeah, keep planning and have hope things will get better. For our Osaka/Kyoto/Kansai region trip booked for next spring, I'm working up alternative itineraries. With Super Nintendo World's opening on indefinite hold, we may or may not go to Universal Studios Japan. That could free up some time to do other things, and revisit some items on a future trip. That, and I've got 5 nights at the Ritz-Carlton Kyoto booked as an alternative to 4 nights at the Park Hyatt Kyoto, and I'm having the hardest first world problems deciding between the two as a home base.
