Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

You will receive a full balcony or patio (1st floor). Room 5163 CL waterview does not have a balcony due to the roof / wall architecture on that corner.

Note: Not all full balconies are equal, there are some variations due to the wall architecture.

Thank you knowledge poster! This picture is very helpful. Except I'm confused again...

What are the rooms directly below the circle? Are those the X163 rooms or are the X163 rooms along the left side of that corner.

The vertical stack are x163 water view rooms below CL room 5163 (red circle). They all have a balcony or patio. They also have a set of windows around the corner which make these rooms 2-3 feet longer due to the roof line / wall architecture. Also due to the additional windows on the side wall, these rooms have a slightly different room layout.

Here is an example of a different full balcony that we call the "Port hole" rooms. They are scattered along the YC overlooking Crescent lake / boardwalk.

Note: Not all full balconies are equal, there are some variations due to the wall architecture.

OK, that helps a lot.

For the longest time, I thought 5163 was the only YC room without the full balcony. Then recently I learned about the other X163 rooms with different balconies, which I thought meant "no balcony". It looks like the balcony is fairly large, but the view area is smaller than most at the resort.

The pictures are very helpful.

I'll try to make a point of checking out these rooms from the outside during my stay in October.

:thanks:

Hi everybody, I just booked my first BC stay for a quick solo trip over Veterans Day weekend for Food & Wine! As a kid I grew up staring at this resort across the water on our family stays at the Dolphin so I’m really excited to finally stay here.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1, Post 15.

:cool1:

Same! Sort of.

When my husband and I first visited WDW together, it was just MK and EP, and the Swan and Dolphin hotels. We used to fantasize about how awesome it would be to someday stay at a place that was WALKING distance to our favorite park. And then the dream got even better with the addition of the Beach and Yacht Clubs.

I hope you absolutely love your stay.

(We have yet to stay at the Swalphin)

Hello everyone,

We are staying at YC and I only have one complaint/observation. Our room smells strongly of mold/mildew. Not sure why that is but has anyone encountered this staying here before?

I notice it more last night after dinner. The lobby smells amazing even with the construction and the hallways are all clean fresh but as soon as we opened our room door, the most unpleasant musky smells hits you in the face. The wall paper near the ceiling between the beds seems to be peeling off. Not sure if the rooms are vulnerable to moisture.

First off, thanks so much for everyone who replied about receiving surveys. YAY! I don't have to change my post.

Use it all of the time! If coming from BC, head over to BW via bridge towards ESPN Club. Walk past ESPN, Ample Hills, Bakery, etc. until you get to the Surrey Bike rental kiosk. Take a left after you pass this. You'll pass by Wyland Gallery on your right and then take a quick right. Health club and game room will be on your left and you'll come out by the clown slide pool. Stay to the left around the pool and you'll run right in to the pathway to DHS. If you miss the pathway you'll be in the canal! :boat:

Thank you so much for posting this.

As I have confessed before, I am directionally challenged. I have no navigational skills AT ALL! I have never tried to use the shortcut from BC to YC.

But here is my question- I assume that this is not the way I should go if coming from the YC. Is that correct? Is the best route to travel right from the YC lobby, pass the boat dock and go over the sail bridge and follow the path from there? Or is there a quicker way I am missing?

TIA

Hi everyone...it's been a long time since I've been on this thread! We are frequent Disney visitors but it's been a while since we've had a YC / BC trip planned.

I just booked another trip for very early January...but this time it's just for my daughter and her friend. She is a twenty-something and this will be her very first trip without us! My DD has a definite love affair with the Yacht Club. We've stayed there twice and she has loved everything about it since she was a young tween. For this first trip sans-parents, she really wanted to head back to the YC.

My DH is a CM so we are fortunate enough to be able to take advantage of some nice pricing. However, for the dates my DD wanted, all we could get was BC (which we've never stayed at). Now, usually we are CL people and we are major suckers for a great view. However, we told our DD that you've got to work your way up in life, so a standard room it will be! We are helping her pay for the trip so she knows she is incredibly lucky to be staying in a Deluxe as it is. She is a great kid and is grateful that she's able to go to Disney at all.

Back in the day, my DH and I did have one stay in a YC standard view room. We looked out over a lovely rooftop and a dumpster! :rotfl: So, while I do want my DD to "work her way up to nicer things", I'm hoping to help her avoid the worst case scenario in terms of the view.

So, my question is, what is the nicest standard view to request at BC? Will a lower floor give them a better chance of avoiding a barren rooftop or service area? Maybe I'll just request "no dumpster please"! Our last three trips were Poly TPV, BWI Boardwalk View, and GF TPV...I fear that we have instilled unrealistic view expectations in our children...oops!

:welcome: back!

What a nice trip for your DD and friend! I'm sure they appreciate it.

We had a BC SV room that overlooked the front entrance parking lot. It wasn't a bad view, some greenery, we could see the entrance fountains and could see fireworks from both EP and MK, at a distance. This was a CL room, on the 5th floor, so perhaps the 3rd and 4th floor rooms also facing the front entrance parking lot would have similar views. Not sure about balconies in those rooms.

The ones described by Tess also sound wonderful!

:thumbsup2

We were at BC last september and there was a day that minnie, Donald, and a few characters came to the pool and did some fun dances poolside. Do they still do this and which days? Thank you!!

There have been characters spotted in the afternoons occasionally. My impression is that it is hit and miss, not a set schedule, but I could be wrong.

Are the characters wearing the new Cape May Cafe beachwear or are they in different attire?

:beach:

Does anyone know bed situation for the 4 rooms at YC Club Level with shared balcony - Do they contain 2 Queens with daybed?

:welcome:

Do you have an upcoming trip?

Great question! I'll check the YC View Thread to see what we have for descriptions of those rooms.

:cool1:

Just a quick room and view report from a recent stay at YC - Room 5194 - Club Level, Standard View. It's the room shaded in yellow on the attached map, about half-way "down the hall" from the CL lounge. 2 Queens and a Daybed. This room had a tub vs a shower (didn't know they had any tubs post-renovation, but I guess a few exist).

The view looking left looks towards that multi-room "shared" balcony that has been discussed in some posts above recently.

Happy to answer any questions!

Oh, and we did have lotion in the room. Obviously YMMV! 8-)

Awesome review of your room.

:thanks:

When I bumped into Donald and Goofy outside between YC and BC in August 2019:
Goofy was wearing an orange shirt with a picture of a sandcastle and a shovel, what I think was a blue bathing suit, and a blue bucket hat.
My picture with Donald was a selfie and I have short arms so I can't see most of his outfit. It appears to be a torquoise blue Hawaiian shirt with pictures of beach umbrellas, palm trees and other things on it. He was also wearing a straw hat. I don't know what else he was wearing.

I don't know if having the characters there will be a regular thing -- or if I saw, um, new friends of Donald and Goofy who were practicing at hotels before being assigned to more challenging locations.

:welcome: to the thread!

Sorry about what you are experiencing in your room.

This is not a typical complaint we hear. My suggestion is to talk to someone at the front desk and explain the issue and ask if there is another room you could move to. It is not ideal to pack up and move, but I would not enjoy staying in a room with a musky smell.

If you stay put, see if running the air conditioner helps.

Please let us know if your situation improves or not.

Either way will get you there in about he same time. Taking a right from the YC will get you to the pathway adjacent to the canal quicker but closer to Jelly Rolls. The "shortcut" going the BC route via BW will make up
for that distance by joining the canal closer to DHS. I think we're talking about a minute or two advantage going right!

so excited to be at Yacht Club tomorrow!!!!!!!! Someone mentioned construction ... is something going on besides Beaches and Cream??

5176 has 2 queens and a daybed. I don't think they are all the same though.

I have never smelled mold in any YC room. I'm allergic to mold and have asthma so would have definitely noticed.

With all this talk about room requests, I was wondering - do you think it is better not to do online check-in so that you can talk with someone at the Front Desk to see what requests they have not been able to meet and possibly get a change of room if one is available?

You are still able to do so, even when you do online check-in.

Are guest surveys still a thing?

Please reply only if you have received a survey to complete following a Disney stay in the past year.

I have a section devoted to the importance of the surveys in the FAQ post, but I suspect this is outdated info.

:thanks:

We had a pre-YC one night stay at ASMo on Aug 31, and received a survey via email on Wednesday-ish. Haven’t received one for the YC stay yet, but we only checked out yesterday.

At YC, we booked garden view, and our requests were king bed with easy access to SAB. Got 2148, which is a king room with a gazebo view, right at the corner closest to the elevators so you’ve got extra breeze on the balcony (no neighbor to the right). Used the stairs way more than the elevator. Great room location for us since DH is part fish and has to visit SAB regularly or he gets grumpy. No lotion, sunscreen or pen/paper, but we had tissues (they were on the nightstand, not in the bathroom, so had to hunt a bit for them). Housekeeping said there’s no lotion or sunscreen anymore, but you can buy it in the gift shop. Huh.

Dorian couldn’t afford to visit Disney, so we had a great trip with low crowds. No waits to speak of anywhere. Walked on to so many rides that we didn’t use most of our FastPasses. Glad we didn’t cancel.

Some time on Wednesday night/Thursday morning, construction tarps went up in half of the lobby, the half where bell services is normally. The globe is wrapped up and behind the tarp. Looks like they are refinishing floors maybe? The work was going on in a small area by the bell services desk, and was relatively quiet when we walked through.

Thank you! Had not heard about this although a previous poster did ask about construction/work going on around the resort.

We had a ground floor room that smelled of mold, room 1148, a room with a king bed. It was during a time when they had lots of rain. We ended up keeping the room because we liked the location.

We are doing the ASMo stay prior to our YC stay also. How did this work for you guys?

I'm glad to hear you had such a wonderful trip in spite of and probably due to the concern about Dorian.

Thanks for the excellent, detailed description of your room. Of course, I want to hear more! Did the room have a daybed, chair, ottoman, desk/table? Did the bathroom have a tub/shower combo or shower only?

Do you happen to have a picture of the view that you could post or email to me at beachclubdee at yahoo?
