Universal Studios and Mardi Gras

Luck happened where we had to move our Universal day from many to just one, and change the date to February 5, and not stay at Universal (so no Express Pass). February 5 is Mardi Gras. I know they do stuff for Mardi Gras but will it make it too busy?

We won't be able to get to the parks until around 12 at the latest (though we're aiming for 11). We would like to get to both parks, but we thought we've have more time for Universal until recently. Both parks close at 7 and IoA has early admission. We've been many times, I'm going with my mom who won't want to ride most rides, especially those with single rider options, so we should be able to get through a lot pretty fast. But there still are some things that we don't want to miss because it's been a few years since we've gone.

Will it be super busy? Or just unrealistically be busy where we should look at another day, the only other day we can go is February 6 without completely restructuring our plans. Or is the Mardi Gras stuff cool enough to sacrifice leisurely touring Universal?

does anyone know if there would be a concert on Feb 10th? I haven't been able to find anything. Are they mostly Saturday nights?

On the UO App lists the following as Seasonal Pass blackout dates:
Feb 9, 16, 17, 23
March 2, 9, 16, 17, 23, 24, 30, 31

It does not yet specify when concert dates are, but one would think it'd be those.

*Note this may not be official yet.*

that makes sense. Was hoping to see a concert, but it doesn't look promising :rockband:

we're only there 2/10-2/14

To piggyback on this post, we're interested in taking the kids to the Mardi Gras parade but not the concerts because it's too late for them. Would choosing non-concert days to see the parade be a smart move crowd-wise? Do they have the parade every day after Feb 9? We are thinking of going to UO from Feb 7-12, with our park days being the 8-11. We don't have anything booked yet though.

In 2018, the parade was every day. No reason to think that would change. But nothing is certain until Universal announces stuff.

Actually, the real Mardi Gras this year is MARCH 5.

I was there in Feb last year and had no trouble walking up at the last minute and viewing the parade. I was there on a concert night also.

You missed March 10 and of course there is this disclaimer - Additional concert dates will be announced at a later date and are subject to change.

March 10 is not grayed out as a blackout date on the UO App at this time. Certainly could change.

Any word on any of the bands playing yet? We're there one Saturday during Mardi Gras and was wondering if it'll be an artist we're interested in seeing the night were there.

We’re watching this too, planning to be there the first weekend. From what I can see, looks like performers were announced around January 9 last year so hopefully we’ll know this week.

Just been watching Tim Trackers Mardi Gras video from last year, looks so much fun, when I first booked my trip I didnt realise I'd be there for MG so an unexpected bonus!

It is really frustrating they (and seaworld) don't do a better job of releasing that info - most people have already booked so now it is just luck of the draw if someone your interested in will be there.
