I love credit cards so much!

Alright I will try to figure it out manually, I had a $350 charge via PP that the company refunded $300 of and it looks like it gave me 5% then just took back 1% so was looking for a little bit less confusing way than adding up several dozen charges ect, but I will look for the earned so far amount that might be easier.

That might be what happened I think others have reported similar outcomes to returns that earned bonuses, so sounds like a loop hole that happens occasionally. But I did edit my post as I figured out you can just calculate off the total earned. It worked on mine but I haven't had any charges since the last statement closed a couple days ago so I don't know how real time that number is.

Chase is taunting me. With my recent addition of the CIP last March, I now have two Chase business cards (with two previous business card retirees the past 2+ years) and 5 or 6 Chase personal cards. I was planning to lay low for a while and possibly apply for British Air or Marriott in a few months. But in my mailbox yesterday was an offer (with code) for the CIC with $500 back. I don't *need* the 5x at office supplies or other categories since I have a CI+ and CIP, but the cash to points offer is so tempting. I'm not in the mood for any more recon calls after DH's last week though, so just making sure the invitation and offer code don't get me past that, right?

So sounds like you're the expert so I have a question... Is there an easy way to see how much of the $1500 has been used other than "ah looks like the &*$@ green bar is 68% filled in..."??

Go into the Chase UR interface. On the left hand side there is a sidebar titled, "Your Ultimate Rewards Points." At the bottom, click the link that says, "Review more activity." Scroll almost all the way to the bottom to a section titled, "5% Cash Back Categories." This breaks down your rewards for the quarter by each bonus category as well as your total cash back rewards.

What to do, what to do... we are newish to CC rewards. Our current primary cards are Amex and SW cards we use for home depot GC and annual flights to Disney respectively. We want to step up our CC game!

I am qualified for the Amex 100k
I am also considering Chase Sapphire Preferred

WHICH SHOULD I GET???

Details:
I am 0/24, so no Chase restrictions
DH is 2/24
Excellent credit for both
DH has Amex, not eligible for 100k

We have 3 Chase SW between us (DH got 2 for Companion Pass). I am thinking to cancel 1 of his and mine (so I can be earn companion pass next time a good bonus is offered).

Upcoming summer travel includes several road trips with Marriott, Hilton and 2 more yet-to-be booked nights. 2019 travel goals would use domestic hotels (we aren't picky about brand), flights on SW or Delta and perhaps London Hotel (BA or Delta flights).

What's the best plan for us novices?

Do you have a side gig or secondary source of income that would qualify you for a business card? Things people use include selling on EBay, teaching private music lessons, mowing lawns, baking cookies, etc.

DH does and got the Chase business SW last year. Not sure if that counts towards his 5/24 because he doeant have an EIN.

I do not

That’s a good plan to save spots for the Southwest cards to try for the companion pass. It’s my favorite deal. I just wish Southwest had first class seats lol.

For now, I’d go with the CIP and then refer your DH.

You should also consider a CSP/CSR double dip. Remember you have to get them the same day.

Also, the Marriott card has a large bonus right now for 100k points.

Delta Amex offers expire tonight.

What is the 100k Amex offer? Is it the plat? How much spend is required. I wouldn’t burn a 5/24 spot for an Amex plat 100k offer.

One of the major cards you’ll see us discuss is the Chase Ink Preferred (CIP). It is the most lucrative bonus out there right now.

I'll take this from another angle --

Are you referring to the 100k Membership Rewards offer for the Amex Platinum card That's the best offer currently available for that card. Did you receive a mailer, an email, or is the offer on your Amex account? While we don't typically advise someone who is under 5/24 to jump right in with Amex when there are so many Chase cards available to you, the 100k MR Platinum offer is hard to come by, prized and sought after by churners, and you may or may not see it again.

You should take some time to think about whether this offer has value to you. We can help layout the benefits vs. of course, the $550 annual fee ("AF") and that it'll take up a "slot" in your */24 count with Chase.

Let's start with where are you located and what airport do you fly out of? It sounds like you fly with SW frequently.

I was looking at that Marriott one as we have domestic travel coming up.

I don't think I can get the Delta Amex promo because I've had it before (cancelled when we started flying SW more)

The 100k Amex is a platinum. Seems like the CSP woukd give me more value (for our travel style) than AmEx, considering the hefty annual fee. However our local small airport lounge gives Amex access, not sure about Chase. (Not a huge deal, we are fine with mid level travel!)

That's the same enhanced public offer for the CIC that a lot of us are applying for!

The usual signup bonus for the CIC is $300 cash back; or $500 cash back if you apply via BRM. The $500 cash back comes in the form of 50,000 UR points after you meet the $3k MSR in 3 months. The rumor is the $500/50k UR public offer will end on 5/20. The other rumor is Chase will be releasing a new "Chase Ink Business Unlimited" ("CIU") card on 5/20 that earns 1.5x UR on everything (the business equivalent of the Freedom Unlimited) with a 50k UR signup bonus. So if you pass on the $500 CIC offer, you should be able to get the same signup bonus by applying for the 50k UR CIU later.

Just tried to order a Walmart GF in gyft using PayPal/CIC and got two notices first the charge and instantly a credit to the card and the app said the charge was declined. So why would a decline have to issue a charge and credit?? Seems they didn't want to process the order. Said check my email for the reason but still no reason...

Edit: Just got the email "The purchase amount has been reversed and the refund should appear on your account within 7 business days." So whats the next step?

Edit2: This was my second purchase, First $50 card was successful with the same payment method.

send them a message about it. see what they say. it it happens a lot, they may ask u for verification. once done, u shouldn’t have a problem.

The $550 AF does give me pause. It is a $5k spend (we have big expenses in June, plus spend $5-7k monthly, so minimum spend is not an issue).

Fly out of Hartford Bradley airport, so limited airlines. SW is only direct option to Orlando (DVC members, fly free on SW points at least once a year)

I do travel 2-3x year international for work, must use work card though

I was wondering the same thing. With being at 0, and if the rest of the offer that goes with the 100k is good, then might want to go against conventional wisdom like you say. That still leaves option for 4 more cards (5 if double dipping the last slot) before getting locked out (or I guess more if you pepper in more Biz that don't report).

And it beats the 25k + complimentary centurian lounge pass hubby got in the mail  I thought at first it was really talking about the $550 "free" pass that comes with the card, but no there's an actual pass in the envelope good for another month. But I don't think that's enough to sway us to take the 25k sign up bonus... after 2k in spend...

I would contact Gyft support: https://support.gyft.com/hc/en-us/articles/205441916-For-mobile-and-website-help

Unfortunately, gift card apps/sites are very sensitive to potential fraud. (Looking at you too, Raise and PPDG.) Particularly if you're a new user without much of a history or pattern of purchases, they'll err on the side of caution and decline transactions. Call Gyft and see if there's anything you can do to avoid declined transactions in the future, like if there's any way to verify your identity or account.

Ps. The amex $100k came up for me on card match just bow (Read about it earlier here. Never heard of Card Match before you guys!)

Thanks!

The CIP is the Chase Ink Preferred. It’s a business card though. However, I think you would be fine to use your husbands business and just use your social. Since your husband has a legit business though I think he should go into the branch if you are near a Chase and speak to a business relationship manager. They offer a 100k UR bonus. Then he can get it and refer you. He’d get 20k for the referral and you’d get 80k for bonus.

A double dip is applying for two cards in the same day. Chase won’t approve you for both the CSP and CSR unless you apply the same day.

They also won’t approve you for the two Southwest cards anymore unless you apply the same day.

You are right Amex has the one bonus per lifetime rule. Lifetime seems to really be seven years though lol

How much do you have to spend for the 100k? I have seen the offer for 20k MSR in three months which is high. The 100k is a big bonus, but the plat has offered a 150k bonus in the past that was targeted. I’m hoping I get that offer one day lol

The spend is only $5k
