I love credit cards so much!

A big thank you too all of you helped answer my questions (and everyone else's discussion--I've been reading for a couple months)!

I was approved for CIC today!
I applied yesterday morning, got the 30 day message, and this morning had an approval message and got my card expedited. Should be here tomorrow by noon! I was super nervous to apply for a business card because I only have a borderline business, but all this discussion pushed me over the edge, so thanks!

DP on lowering limits: I lowered my Chase limits by 40k 8 days before I applied, but it hadn't updated in the chase credit score feature or my creditkarma. Based on that and the credit limit I was given on the CIC, I would also think it hadn't been updated in chase's system. I was just too impatient to wait any longer!
Congrats....I also only waited a week after lowering my credit limits and applying for the CIP...approved on Monday, expedited the card and received it today !!!

So here is where my DH is at (see image)...

Plans for him next (in no particular order) are...

---DD CSR/CSP. I need to PC the CSR to a CF, but I am not sure the best timing, because what if I want to book something with 1.5xUR before he gets another CSR? All our URs are in his CSR account. I have a CSP I guess I could upgrade if needed to book, but seems like alot of trouble. Also, he has approx $100k in chase CL so I need to free up some of that. I am still thinking this through.

---Cancel SW Prem and plus after their anniversary points post...June and Sept.

---Possible SW biz this later year and cross fingers double dip works in late 2019 for a 2019/20 CP??

---PC the CIP to a CIC (I have a CIP that is processing mortgages so don't want to touch mine)

---Hoping for good sign up bonus on SPG personal

----Hilton BIZ amex soon

Suggestions on order of doing these things? Or anything I am missing?
Thank you for posting this. I have the same cards and will be doing almost the same thing. I just got the Hilton biz last night. Was really easy.

Can anyone who has been to Europe and familiar with euros please help?? My daughter will be going to Italy next month.
What is the best way to get Euros? I put her as authorized user on one of my chase cards with no foreign transaction
fees. I would like her to have some euros on hand also. I went to bank today at it was $253 for 200 euros. That seemed
rather high so i declined. Can you get them from ATM out there? Is it safe using your debit? Anyone familiar with fees?

Thanks.
Who do you bank with? I used my PNC debit card to access a Canadian Atm in Canada and was able to obtain a better exchange rate. PNC also waived the foreign transaction fee which was nice. Maybe your bank will waive Atm fees if you have a certain account?

ATMs give the best exchange rates, but you have to be careful about the ATM fees (although even with fees, you still might come out ahead). How long will she be there? Several of my kids have lived overseas for months and for them it was worthwhile to open a US bank account that had a relationship with foreign banks. I recall that when my son was going to China for a semester, he opened a Bank of America account that he could access at certain branches of a certain Chinese bank.

Also, is she going on her own or with a group? If she's going to be arriving on her own, especially after a long flight, it might be worth the bad exchange rate to get $50 or so in local currency. That way, if the ATM at the airport is down, or in an inconvenient place, or she's just tired, she will be able to get a taxi.

It all depends on what the fees would be on your particular card, but like a commenter upthread I used my USAA debit card to withdraw cash and got whatever ATM fees there were refunded (this was eight years ago though so the fees charged may have changed since then). I'm assuming your daughter will be flying into a major airport hub like Milan or Rome? If so, the easiest thing to do will be to get euros at an airport ATM. Besides that, she should be able to find ATMs scattered throughout the places she visits, especially near tourist sites, unless she's in a teeny village in the countryside that doesn't get much foot traffic. It should definitely be less expensive than going into a bank stateside to get foreign currency.

I'm curious why you picked up a second Blue Business Plus. Does that card even have a sign-up bonus? Is it just to "park" MRs?
I probably wasn't 100% clear but this was 2 Player mode.

I got one when it first came out during my Schwab AMEX run of 2017. I got one for my wife during the great 20 month personal card celibacy of '16, '17 and early '18. Both were with signup bonuses.

Just tried to order a Walmart GF in gyft using PayPal/CIC and got two notices first the charge and instantly a credit to the card and the app said the charge was declined. So why would a decline have to issue a charge and credit?? Seems they didn't want to process the order. Said check my email for the reason but still no reason...

Edit: Just got the email "The purchase amount has been reversed and the refund should appear on your account within 7 business days." So whats the next step?

Edit2: This was my second purchase, First $50 card was successful with the same payment method.

So sounds like you're the expert so I have a question... Is there an easy way to see how much of the $1500 has been used other than "ah looks like the &*$@ green bar is 68% filled in..."??
Actually - I will concede I'm not the expert on that one. I maxed out my CF last quarter with apple pay and will do so with paypal this quarter so it's just a math problem to hit exactly $1,500 in one transaction lol.

I think somebody else said there is a way to tell exactly though...any takers on that Q?

Sort of, both ways I know require a little calculations. In the UR portal, rewards activity, at the bottom there's a section for the 5% quarter. It'll break down how much was earned in each category in cash and then you can multiple to get how much you spent to get there.

Or above that it shows the points earned on the qualifying purchases. You can either add up the points or the purchases.

So far Discover is winning on this front, especially since they updated their calendar to show the $ amount exactly you've earned at least, and they have better search features on the transactions.

Edit: Actually I was reading the 5% category section wrong, Chase does have it like Discover. If you multiply your "Total Cash Back Rewards" by 100 that gets you your points. Divide that number by .05 and it'll get you your spend.

Alright I will try to figure it out manually, I had a $350 charge via PP that the company refunded $300 of and it looks like it gave me 5% then just took back 1% so was looking for a little bit less confusing way than adding up several dozen charges ect, but I will look for the earned so far amount that might be easier.

It's probably what I would do. I'd imagine what you'd get in the 5% categories would outweigh the extra .5% on everything else for a couple months.
I think I will. I made a split second decision when I got the CFU because I decided to double dip it with the Marriott. I wanted to get the Marriott before I picked my car up from the shop with its hail damage :p I can probably max this quarter with a Freedom still between grocery and paypal
