So..they are charging for parking...

I was told if you have a handicapped tag you still get complimentary valet parking. Is that true or has it changed?
Valet parking at Disney Deluxe hotels is complimentary (Free) for any Guest with a valid disability parking permit and a current room or dining reservation at that particular resort.

I’m guessing the parking fee does not have to be disclosed when you are booking the room? I was pricing out some rooms and I didn’t see anything in the ‘booking engine’ pages on thru actual reservation that indicated there was a parking fee if you have a car.

Elsewhere on the Disney website under ‘parking’ it does list the fees.

Is that something that doesn’t have to be disclosed when booking a room?
I’d sure be upset if I found out about after arrival.

It's listed on the booking page AFTER you pay the deposit.

Most hotels have the information available prior to booking, but you may have to look for it. For example, when booking a Hilton brand hotel, it’s usually shown on the home page for the hotel, but it’s near the bottom of the page and off to the side. It also sometimes appears under amenities. It also shows in the fine print if you click on the room rate to see what your total would be if you book. But it’s not in your face and a casual first time guest may or may not stumble upon it before booking. When booking through a third party, they typically tell you what fees are not included, but again, it’s not in your face. I refuse to pay for parking, so I always search for this info before booking. If I can’t find whether or not there are resort and/or parking fees, I move on to another hotel listing.

I would say it’s usually as available as the hotel cancellation policy, and about as easy to find.

Hmm. Seems sneaky.
Wonder if that’s ‘industry standard’

Here in Chicago it is. Parking fees are listed in the parking section, no mention during check out. We're going to a concert at Wrigley Field this summer and I just booked a room for that night yesterday. I had to find what the parking fee was under the parking section.

In Chicago though, most of the hotels don't even own their own garages. They are usually outsourced. And granted I've lived in the area my whole life so maybe people who haven't don't know, but I'd be shocked to find a hotel (in the actual city, not suburbs) that doesn't charge parking fees. Disney has had free parking for years up until very recently and lots of land, so I don't think it's an apples to apples comparison.

Also, not sure what you are paying for parking for your concert but there are parking apps that may be able to get you a better price if you don't mind walking a few blocks.

Oh yeah. Already have my SpotHero reservation. It's $15 for 24 hours instead of the $65 the hotel is charging. And only 2 blocks away. :thumbsup2

I see your posts all the time and you seem to have a wealth of knowledge on WDW. I probably should have realized you were from the Chicago area with your Blackhawks Avatar but it never dawned on me until you said so, LOL.

I like to stay at the Best Western River North when I go downtown. They used to have free parking which was amazing, but all good things must come to an end and they now charge $25/night which is still a great price (for Chicago) and their garage is onsite. It's not the Ritz Carlton but it is clean and a great location. Not far from the red line to Wrigley, either. But $15 for 24 hours is great, nice work!

Get ParkWhiz as well so you can price out the competition (and they have different locations, too.) :)
