Really nervous about doing another solo trip <=(

I've caused so much trouble on here and I feel like I don't deserve to posting another thread but I want to go back. I want to look at the site and sounds of Disney World now instead of just the characters I even managed to book a behind the seeds tour because I've never done that before and wanted to see how they grow their fruits and vegetables and get some advice on gardening if that's possible. The trip is already booked during the Thanksgiving break but I am just a nervous wreck, the only characters I want to see is Donald and Daisy Duck because they are favorite from the cartoon shorts and Ducktales. I just don't want this trip to turn into a disaster like last time, seeing the characters a dozen times a day or anything like that. I just want to relax and really enjoy my trip at Disney World. :groom:

What went wrong last time? Also, enjoying the sights and sounds and Illuminations are my favorite parts!

Don't ask him that! It was creepy and inappropriate. MODS...please ban this guy or lock his threads down. Has he been warned at least?

I saw some thread that devolved into a discussion about furries, but I don't actually remember that poster saying anything except that he saw a butt load of characters, which isn't my bag, but I was curious as to what went wrong. Also, I'd think that drinking in the general environment of WDW would be something everyone would enjoy, so I wanted to encourage him to do just that. Maybe I'm missing something?

I cheated the system like most do but got caught

Maybe I'm just too naive, but I don't think most people cheat the system. I have to admit I skimmed over many of the OPs statements before because he seemed really into meeting characters and that just isn't an interest of mine. I was sorry to read that OP was so down on Disney and am happy for him that he is giving it another chance. I am in the middle of my first solo trip to Disney--and my longest ever trip to Disney--and I am having an absolutely wonderful time. The only constructive comments I can think of to make (and this is with me making some assumptions about OPs previous visit)--do the attractions--all of the attractions. Ride the rides--all of them. If you don't want to repeat one, fine, but try them all at least once. See the shows--all of them. If you don't want to repeat one, fine, but try all of them at least once. Really expose yourself to what Disney has to offer. There's a lot there. I love it. So do most of the other people on the disboards. Our favorites are not necessarily the same; our skippables are not necessarily the same. But Disney has a large enough number of favorites and a small enough number of skippables for each of us that we all seem to be going back again and again.

Y E A H, I don't think "most" people cheat the system. Don't know how you managed to cheat on fastpasses, don't particularly want to know.

Look, dude, I was the first to jump in and defend furrydom on your behalf because what you talked about was vague enough that there wasn't really an indication whether it was "inappropriate," but looking at this...I think the thing to remember is that at the end of the day, you're the same person in WDW that you are at home. If you're not enjoying your visits to WDW, maybe it's time to examine whether there's something more general in your life that needs to be addressed...or whether you don't really like WDW as much as you thought you "should." WDW has broad appeal, but that doesn't mean it's perfect for everyone.

Beyond that..just ditto what srwarden1928 said. Ride the rides, watch the shows, enjoy the pool at the resort.

I made other fast passes on a family member's account and used their magic band but they find out that she wasn't in the park but her magic band was being used for fast passes so in total I had six fast passes for day I was in Disney World. They suspended my account and I had to call them to reinstate my account. If they would adopt Universal Studios fast pass system I would not have to do that but they make it very difficult to ride any rides that have a standby up 190 minutes.

James, may I suggest you lower your expectations and try not to cheat the system? You say if Disney adopted Universal's system you wouldn't "have to" cheat. I say if you chose not to cheat your overall Disney experience would be better for you. Yep, 190 min lines are horrible. Cheating to beat those lines isn't good for other guests. Sometimes you have to miss a favorite ride. I'm sure you understand this but sometimes self-interest takes over and you do the wrong thing.
I've caused so much trouble on here and I feel like I don't deserve to posting another thread but I want to go back.
How about choosing to not cause trouble here? How you post and what you post is your, personal choice. Make decisions wisely.

Don't know how you managed to cheat on fastpasses, don't particularly want to know.

edit to add: It strikes me that if you can't have a good time in the parks while dealing with waiting your fair turn in long lines, a Thanksgiving week visit might not be the best option. Have you considered your game plan for how you'll deal with that this time around?

My wife and son do not like Kali River Rapids, so my other son and I used their magic bands to Fast Pass twice - was that against the rules? This was last Monday at 9 AM, the ride was a walk on.

Probably not. They were both in the park and didn't want to use their FastPass. What James did was make FP reservations with a family members account who was not in the park that day. I see a difference. It seems Disney did, too.

I don't know whether it's officially against the rules, but the difference is that in your case, there were 4 people physically in the park (paid tickets, that whole shebang) who had made legitimate FastPass reservations, and all 4 FastPasses were used -- just by the same 2 people. In James's case, there was 1 person physically in the park (therefor only one paid ticket). I'll be honest, in Disneyland last month we did swap around our MaxPasses once, but it was because we'd had a mix-up re: who was reserving which passes on their phones and we'd ultimately still reserved and used 2 for one ride and 2 for another for a total of 4 people physically present in the park -- it was just a different 2 people who rode each than had reserved them. I did not view that as cheating, though I was briefly nervous we'd be called out for the 6'2" guy riding with me under a woman's name.

Ha, I was nervous about that as well. I have looked at the FP screens, and it says "Angela, Happy Aniversary - 15". I don't pass for Angela in most situations.

<edit> went back to Disney World during the week I was banned, ran into the guard rail in Magic Kingdom parking lot causing over $3,000 in damages to my car, Disney was account was suspended for breaking the fast pass policy ( I cheated the system like most do but got caught). I don't get it what else you want done to me?

Goodness that sounds like a Disney trip that you'll have memories of! :D

Yeah there are subtle changes each year that you have to pay attention to in Disney's Terms of Service... they love getting your money and taking more of it each year and taking some priviledges away LOL The recent changes to FP+ were pretty unexpected for lots of people used to all the old loopholes!

Just give it another try with low-key expectations... meet some mascots and eat some yummy food... hang by the pool and watch some movies at your resort... :D Have a great trip and ignore all the criticism. It's YOUR vacation not theirs!

I think it's awesome that you have an interest that keeps you a child at heart - like ALL of us Disney lovers! Celebrate your joy!

I know that I am going to regret responding but..
Really Dude! Take responsibility for your actions instead of blaming everyone else. It was against WDW policy which, by going, you agreed to follow. If you don't like it - DON"T GO - it really as that easy. There are a million other places in the world. It is your choice to stand in line for 3+ hours or not. If you like Universal's fast pass sysem go there instead. It is all YOUR choice - it is NOT everyone else's fault.

Well, I can't comment on the other stuff, but I had great success with same day FPs when I went. Just keep refreshing the app (I liked to do it while in lines or when we sat down to eat or wait for a show or something). Those e-ticket attractions can be found with a little effort!

Okay I learned my lesson and I learned from my mistake. I'll be good for now on and no more questions or postings about the characters. I will still go and wait my fair turn in line and not complain about it or wait for a fast pass. I wasn't blaming anyone for anything but if you say I was then I was I'm not going argue that. So lets all take deep breath, forget this all ever happened and move on. No need to hang onto the past what's done is done I can't change it.

Protip: saying what boils down to "You're wrong about the thing you said, but now I want you to stop arguing with me about it" indicates that you don't understand why what you said bothered someone and probably won't change your ways going forward. It's a classic non-acknowledgment, non-apology. You're making a lot of promises without showing any indication that you understand the actual reasons people objected to the things you said -- treating symptoms and ignoring underlying cause.

Good for you James.
