What Resorts Do You Refuse to Stay At?

I would never say I'd never stay at any of the resorts, there are a number of them that are last resort for me or I will just stay one night at the beginning of a split stay. I'm not a fan of the value resorts and can't imagine I would ever stay at one for the entire length of a trip, I just don't like the small rooms, the noisy common areas and the lack of quiet pools. I haven't stayed at AoA and don't see me staying there unless it the cheapest alternative for that one night split stay. I refuse to pay moderate rates for a value resort. I've never stayed at a moderate an entire trip either, they are usually one or two nights at the beginning of a split stay. I can see in the future us staying at one the entire time though since I'm getting ready to retire and funds won't be as fluid as in the past. I'm not a fan of the monorail resorts, we enjoy Epcot and HS more than MK so they don't make sense to us and I hate being forced to rely on the monorail to get to Epcot. I would probably stay at one during a split stay, we used to stay in them all the time but they were the only on site resorts at the time.

Saratoga Springs or Old Key West. They hold no appeal. I'm iffy on the Grand Floridian as it is more formal than I like.

Have well over 130 Disney resort stays ... so some of these are home away from homes ...

No desire to stay at (based purely on theme and looks):

- Contemporary (blah blah blah)
- Grand Floridian (colors)
- Polynesian (I'm a 70's kid and all that brown, and Brady Bunch style don't appeal to me)
- Beach Club, probably Yacht too (Been many times to eat but it just doesn't WOW me, at all)

Have stayed at and won't return:
- AllStar Music (hate the layout, hate it's a value with no Disney connect, hate it's so dark and feels unsafe)
- FW Cabins (loved the cabin, not the campground and transportation nightmare); no way I'd actually camp, broke that habit

Have stayed at and while didn't wow me, for a very low price I'd stay again:
- POFQ
- CBR
- ASMo

Have stayed many times with good trips but no attachment per se:
- ASSp

Have stayed at and will absolutely return :lovestruc:
- CSR
- POR (hoping dogs go away)
- POP
- AKL
- WL

Haven't stayed at but for right price would like to:
- AoA (hoping dogs go away)
- BWI

The full DVC resorts don't ever cross my mind I think because they look like condos. Have visited to look.

I don't like camping, so wouldn't stay at the campgrounds...unless it was free, then I'd give it a go. But it *would* have to be free. I also have to say we went to the Grand Floridian to see the gingerbread house a couple of years ago and we felt underdressed and out of place.

I cannot get behind BLT - I don't get the appeal at all. So if I was paying, I'm not staying there.
Now free ... whole different ball game.

we hattteed CBR last year. I would only stay there again if there wasn't any other option. We loved CSR so its not a moderate issue. The room was old, smelt bad and faced into a courtyard which was clausterphobic. I didn't mind the walk to the food court just hated our room. Interestingly, the barbados section has been tore down so i guess disney agreed ;)

Yeahhhhhh my family's options have been supremely narrowed down since the Pet-Friendly Disaster.

We won't stay in the pet-friendly resorts, we didn't like any of the themes of the values, and deluxe is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too money.

Unfortunately this means we have ONE resort that we will book at, and if there are any dogs (aside from proper, working service dogs of course) on the grounds of French Quarter, we will be investigating off-property options that are NOT pet-friendly!

Wouldn’t travel from Scotland to stay at a campground even if the flights were thrown in for free!

Values don’t appeal (remind me of a day trip to Butlins when I was a kid...and not in a good way).

Contemporary just looks so boring and box like. Hate the large atrium as just lacks all soul and personality

Had wanted POFQ but sold out so going to be staying at Riverside and hoping it’ll be quiet after the madness of the parks.

Contemporary is my FAVORITE resort due to the nostalgia. Stayed there as a kid and then got a job at Disney driving the monorail.

Won't stay at any VALUE except for AoA suite.
CBR or CSR. Too big/Too blah (POFQ Favorite MOD)

I would actually stay at any if the price was really cheap but my least favorite that I have no desire to stay in are All Star Sports, Pop, Boardwalk, CR, the campgrounds. Of those we did stay at Pop and it was crowded, buses were always full to standing room only, food court was messy, beds uncomfortable, and I did not like the uncovered bus stop area.

what is your favourite resort?

I do agree with these thoughts. We are actually booked there next February. My DVC friend got me a reservation there and my cost isn't much different than a moderate would cost me with my military discount. We are wait listed at Wilderness Lodge, but if it doesn't come through we will be at BLT. While BLT certainly isn't my first choice, I will be happy with it at the price I got. And its another resort I can cross off the list! Lol

I won't be staying in any of the resorts that now allow pets:
  • Art of Animation
  • Port Orleans Riverside
  • Yacht Club
  • Fort Wilderness Cabins
If I'm paying for it, I won't be staying in those either.

If someone else is paying for it, I would fight staying at those resorts.

If I had no choice, I would do it, but would be on my guard during my time at the resort.

Otherwise, I would stay pretty much anywhere, deluxe to value.

I don’t like the look of CBR. We won’t return to BWI (I’m really not a huge fan of staying in the Epcot area). I’d only due a value if absolutely necessary.

if it's free;
Anywhere without the gen pop dogs.
And not in a tent.

We've paid to stay at:

All star movies
All star music
Pop
Aoa

Not keen on the look of sports
Would return to pop

Stayed at all the mods
No desire to return to cbr

Loved the cabin at FWR

GF does nothing for me
Nor do YC
BC
Swan & Dolphin

I agree. I haven't stayed at the Contemporary yet but as a kid I dreamed one day of being able to afford it. Now I'm going in April but instead of two rooms at the CR we have a 1 bedroom villa at BLT. I can't wait. My other visits were at the Polynesian and the Grand Floridian. I love GF! It may look formal but I wear jeans as so many others do. It's not a problem.
