WORST DISNEY DINING EXPERIENCE

Hollywood Brown Derby... the service was hostile so much so, that we chose to leave so I can't speak for the food. This was a few trips ago & it is still ringing in my head. " Oh, she wants CHOCOLATE milk (insert eye rolling from the waiter).

This must be a common thing here. We had what was the most horrendous service that I've ever encountered by a server. Rude, nasty, just horrible. We were there one December and we were seated across from a door. One of the servers must have opened it to get some air. After a few minutes, it was freezing. The people next to me got up and left. We asked our waitress if she could please close the door. She said, nope sorry. Two minutes later, my husband got up and closed the door. Another neighbor thanked him. The waitress came back and said " I thought I told you no". On top of the fact that our food was disgusting, we had just had it. We spoke with a manager who agreed that everything was horrible and he actually comped our meal because of it. I would never go back.

I think I posted it earlier in the thread, but my worst experience ever was also at Hollywood Brown Derby ... but it was the middle of summer and they kept the door to the lounge area open for servers to come in and use the terminals. It was 100 degrees and humid, and we were seated right next to the door. Worse, "Olaf's Frozen Dance Party" was blasting so loud we couldn't hear people across the table. How that place is considered "Signature Dining" is beyond me - I would choose California Grill or Jiko 20 times out of 10 over Hollywood Brown Dumpy.

Wow!, I'm glad your meal was comped. I don't see the need to go back either since there are so many other great places.

I'd drive to MCO and pay hourly parking for leftover airport panda express just before they close one evening instead of suffering through Hollywood brown derby (or Hollywood & slime) again. I don't understand the appeal of that place at all, but apparently others disagree as people always seem to want to go!

Two terrible meals:

Tony's Town Square: horrid nasty food with service that was painfully slow. Will never eat there ever again. Their red sauce should be a crime LOL

Artist Point: food was mediocre at best and our service was abysmal. Not to mention it was so dark you could barely see your food.

Hollywood and Vine for food that isn't worth the price, service that was poor from all except the characters, and atmosphere. Summer 2017

Crystal Palace for a server that was more interested in listening to the MLM pitch at the table next to us than doing her job. Spring 1998

Columbia Harbor House for an underwhelming lobster roll. Spring 2017

I just realized that the last time I ate at Hollywood Brown Derby was in '92 or '93. And I an a AP holder who goes to WDW multiple times a year. Guess that says it all.

Guess this was one time I should've listened to the majority vote...Bongos...blech...I was so excited to go & have the grilled seafood platter on arrival day. Neither DD15 nor I enjoyed our food, with the exception of the flatbread appetizer, cause that was edible. H&V was a waste, but Sanaa and Boathouse were delicious. A few years back we had dinner at Crystal Palace for the last time, due to the fact that even the easy stuff (chicken, etc) was not even up to Old Country Buffet standards.

It looks like she made a reservation to get a table in the restaurant, with her only intention was to meet and greet characters. She never had any intention on eating nor paying the bill and she's mad that they wanted to kick her out. :rotfl2:

Wow

I’ve had a few bad experiences due to people in my party. Very few due to food or service and in all those cases they made it up to us in one way or another.

Only experience that really stands out was negative due to other guests and even then it was probably more because we were in a bad mood. Staying at ASMu and had a really early ADR for Chef Mickey’s. Overslept and ended up basically jumping out of bed and Ubering to Contemporary. Still half asleep and feeling gross, we weren’t really in the mood to take pictures with any characters, but we did and the food was pretty good (hard to mess up breakfast). Very loud couple with their young daughter next to us. I think they said they were from Minnesota. No we weren’t talking to them; they spoke super loud. Their daughter had a unique name and they must have said it 100 times over the course of the meal. They were obsessed with having their daughter run up and hug characters. So when a character was heading over they would yell at them to stay back, dad would get into position and start filming, then mom would call the daughter, and then she would run full speed at the character and hug them. They did this with every character. Sometimes multiple times because dad didn’t get a good video the first time. It has become an inside joke between us to yell the daughters name when we see a character.

That was my take on it too! The "rude woman" sounds like the hostess noticed some people crashing the character's with camera's, then noticed them sitting at a table.

OT, but what is MLM?

I cannot remember a bad dinning experience in Disney but I did witness someone have a "bad" experience. I was eating at California grill with my family a few years ago when a table near us was celebrating a birthday and the waiter brought over this GORGEOUS cake that looked perfect. This family however tried to cheat the system to get a free meal by saying that the cake was ruined since there was the tiniest little crack in it. Sobs and sobs later, I sadly do believe that family got what they wanted :(

Ours wasn't really anybody's fault, but it was at BOG. We were placed in the west wing. DD was newly turned 3 and the whole thing petrified her. She spent most of the dinner crying in my lap. My 82 year old MIL was with us and she's already 1/2 deaf so hearing the soft-spoken waiter was hard for her. My father was also with us and at nearly 80 his eyesight isn't so wonderful and the room was too dark for him to read the menu. Thank goodness our phones had lights! For our next trip I specified at checkin that we not be seated there again.

Worst solo-dining service experiences: WDW has the dubious honor of being the only place where I have gotten up to use the restroom between entree and dessert and came back to discover that my table had been cleared off and the next party seated! It happened TWICE. Both times at signature restaurants!! The second time it happened, I went ballistic. However, they made good on it in a "pixie dust covered" way.

This is my worst dining fear as I often dine solo myself. For this reason, I don't go to the restroom until the end of my meal if I can help it. Or, I'll go right before I get called to be seated.

I've always been put in the ballroom and had to make an ADR for lunch in order to try the West Wing.
